USA and drugs offences I might be visiting the USA in May this year. Apparently you have to get a travel visa or something even for a short holiday now?
Also apparently visas get rejected if you have drugs offences on your police record. I happen to have a caution for a class C substance so was wondering if anyone had any idea if this would give me trouble getting into the states for a week.
UK : Scot : Rookie cops monitoring social networks to catch gang members This has also been going on in England, mostly in Metpol and Norfolk force areas but may exist in other constabularies..
Of course most people won't criticise the feds for busting youths with dangerous weapons but these operations are expanding - cops are hardly going to ignore people bragging about drugs and parties online (rightly or wrongly cops consider the rave culture and gang culture to be linked :hopeless:)

Petition to Stop Mandatory Noise Control on Clubs Please stop them from ruining the way we listen to music in clubs.
I think noise limiters are suitable in some venues. Especially those that are not designed for loud music and are in the middle of residential areas.
However, if this is passed then every club and live music venue up and down the country will eventually be limited to silly levels.
Please Sign Here - You will need a valid email address.
It has been brought to attention that the government wish to consider it a legal requirement in the new tax year to introduce laws insisting anyone applying or re-applying for an entertainment license must have a noise control device fitted to the venue. This will be the final NAIL for ALL entertainment in the UK as the level at which these devices CUT you off is dreadfully low and damaging.
PLEASE DO NOT INTRODUCE THIS LAW, WE LOVE LIVE MUSIC!

Organising a Rave? hey im gonna be organising a rave in london and having found my building and sound system etc im suddenly having doubts. does anyone have any experience with dealing with the met? i was wondering wat the chance is of them turning up and if they do whether theyll be looking to lock people up or just shut down the party? also wat is the chance of them confiscating equiptment? and if the do turn up and i try to leave with the equiptment whether they will just let me leave now that the party is over.
any advice would be gladly welcome. cheers
Equipment Confiscated can anyone help .. so hypertheticaly of course .. i was under the impression if one was to do a party say in a warhouse and he or she had permission from the warhouse owner but had no liscence as such .. if the rig was being transported in a hired vehicle that vehicle would not be impounded because it doesnt belong to you so if your rig is in that vehicle it would be safe .. so if this is the case i someone was to hire i rig could that also not be confiscated due to it not belonging to the party organiser ? ( or is all this confiscation stuff just urban mith and the police will do as they please on the day or night ? ) ... ??? .. also if it was confiscated how easily is it to get ruturned ..
BBC Look East News on Horsey Gap Party I was sitting down today and i switched on the news to see a report on last nights party at horsey gap.The head of norfolk police was banging on about how our systems just want money.
I was obviously shouting at the tv by this point in anger and i don't see any reason why they should be cracking down on us.
Wwe go to rural locations for a reason.
We at least try to clean up after our selfs.
Anyway every Saturday night theres a load of coppers in a hall in norfolk waiting to drive off to a party as soon as some fossil sees a small convoy drive by.
I was also shocked by the force the police used. The report showed most people by the rig and about 30 police officers stormed in, rugby tackled the dj and people were running back to their cars.
This is a mess and must be costing US a fortune.
Rant over!

Form 696? Just got a mesage with this init
COPIED FROM THE GROUP : Save live music - Stop form 696 - Stop bureaucracy killing off live music.
***********************************************************
A new piece of bureaucracy will force licensees to reveal a mass of information about performers.
Publicans and managers of other small venues are forced to comply with a new piece of bureaucracy called Form 696
The form demands that licensees give police a mass of detail, including the names, aliases, private addresses and phone numbers of all musicians and other performers appearing at their venue, and the ethnic background of the likely audience. Failure to comply could mean the loss of a licence or even a fine and imprisonment.
It applies in 21 London boroughs, but professionals in the music business fear that if it becomes accepted, it will be copied in other cities.
These new rules will make putting on live bands next to impossible for most small venues. An 'open mic' night could not happen under such rules. Please join this group to protest against form 696 and new bureaucracy which could kill off live music in London and potentially the whole UK.
Feargal Sharkey (singer of Teenage Kicks) is campaiging against the new rules - see below for more details.
Please sign the petition on the 10 Downing Street website against 696.

19 Year Old Sentenced to Prison for Violence at Rave "A 19-year-old man who charged at police in riot gear while at an illegal rave in Norfolk has been ordered to pay an officer compensation.
Ryan Broomfield, of Stile Close, Mulbarton, admitted affray at premises in Boundary Road, Great Yarmouth, on 19 August 2007, at Norwich Crown Court.
He was given an eight month sentence in a young offenders institution, suspended for two years.
He was also ordered to pay Pc Jonathan Loud £400 in compensation.
Broomfield was also ordered to do 180 hours unpaid work.
'Hit out'
Malcolm Robins, prosecuting, said police were called to premises where an illegal rave was taking place.
The police, in riot gear, met opposition from a crowd who attacked them.
Pc Loud said in a statement read to the court that his shield was pushed into his visor causing his nose to bleed.
He said Broomfield was aggressive, hitting out at the shields and gesturing towards the police.
The court heard that Broomfield said he had drunk 24 cans of Fosters lager.
Michael Clare, mitigating, said Broomfield was ashamed of his behaviour.
Recorder Guy Ayers said: "You attacked a police officer causing damage to his face. Police were simply carrying out their public duty."
Tight, anyone know the bloke. First actual time spent inside by anyone due to goings on at a party (except for drugs) i've heard of sinse being involved in the scene.12

Social services face inquiry over rapist who fathered nine children with daughters
An investigation has been launched into the failings of police and social services in the case of a father who made his two daughters pregnant 19 times during almost 30 years of rape and physical abuse.
The man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was given 25 life sentences yesterday. He will serve a minimum of 19 years and six months in prison.
So he raped these girls for 30yrs, pleaded guilty to 25rapes, got 25 life sentances, yet he's only going to serve 19yrs and 6mnths?! doesnt make sense to me. :hopeless: :you_crazy:
Prison First time posting on here -
Wondering if anybody knows about what to expect with prison. Got into some serious bother in the summer and have court coming up. I’m pleading guilty and have been told to expect a custodial. Any party people here know people who’ve been in and how they found it? Is it as rough as some people say or is it more like the holiday camp they go on about? Would appreciate any info/advice
Down goes another one… 10 people have been arrested after police raided Pacha nightclub in Victoria, which is now closed.
Officers, acting on intelligence, executed a search warrant at the club in Terminus Place at around 12.30am on Saturday.
They searched over 200 people and arrested 4 on suspicion of possessing Class A drugs with intent to supply, 3 on suspicion of possessing Class A drugs and 3 for other offences.
Police say around 100 pills, 30 wraps of white powder and 6 wraps of brown powder were found discarded at the scene.
Following the raid, the club's manager agreed to a voluntary closure pending a review of his licence.
But Pacha's owner, William Reilly, denies any drugs were found in the club. In a statement, he said: "Pacha was stripped and searched for drugs and found to be clean."
The statement on the club's website goes on: "This is a massive shock to the management and staff of the club as we have worked closely with Belgravia police and never had reason to believe we had a drug problem within the venue.
For over 15 years the Pacha group have worked closely with the police and councils to deter drug use in the venues.
This lack of trust and heavy-handed approach has done nothing to stop drug dealing in clubs but drives a wedge between the police, public and management."
But police defended the raid. In a statement, Scotland Yard said: "This was a highly successful operation which has taken a number of drug dealers off the streets of Westminster and sends a robust message to those that operate licensed premises."
"The vast majority of licensees work hard to prevent this sort of recreational drug use from taking place in their venues and we will continue to work with all licencees in the Westminster area to ensure people can enjoy these venues free of drug dealing and the associated crime it attracts."
According to Pacha's website, it will reopen next week.
