UK : East : Old skool crime in Norfolk.. this sort of thing was a comedy cliché (the sort of thing you'd see in Carry on Films or Benny Hill) when I was a boy in the 1970s! :laugh_at:

UK: East : Cops support Unity Tribe license app after new conditions agreed.. good news, bearing in mind that the cops can't be expected to simply ignore drugs laws just because people have asked permission to use the land..
Police have withdrawn their objection to a planned “legal rave” after organisers ramped up security measures to prevent a repeat of drugs problems witnessed at last year's event.
The Unity Tribe festival at Cockley Cley Warren, near Swaffham, is being planned by a team of volunteers as a social enterprise, with all profits from the dance and techno music event given to local charities or environmental causes.
A licensing application submitted to Breckland Council requests permission to provide live music, dancing facilities and the sale of alcohol between 8pm on Saturday, September 11, until 2pm the following afternoon.
Norfolk police's licensing officer Tony Grover originally objected to the application, saying that the event management plan (EMP) did not include sufficient measures to ensure a “safe and drug-free environment”.
His letter to Breckland's licensing department said, although there was no serious disorderly behaviour, the free flow of festival-goers between the arena and the car park in 2009 meant the supply and use of illegal drugs could not be effectively prevented.
But now Mr Grover has said he is satisfied that an amended version of the EMP, drafted by security firm Event Guard, had resolved those issues, so he would withdraw his representation.

Patrick Fousek, who was on probation at the time, wandered up to two women outside the supermarket in Salinas, Monterey County, and asked to borrow a mobile phone. The women claim the 38-year-old struck up a conversation before casually asking if they wanted to buy his daughter for the equivalent of £17.

UK : LDN : Sweeney pelted with stolen watches! if you want to know the time, ask a policeman. :laugh_at:
Fraser Hart stocks watches manufactured by Rolex, Cartier, Breitling, Bulgari, Gucci and Chanel. As officers raced to the scene, CCTV operators spotted several suspects heading down Dolphin Street at high speed. Several officers pursued the suspects, assisted by a police helicopter, and were pelted with stolen watches.
Two men were eventually arrested in Sandy Lane, Sutton, after the moped crashed. Two others were arrested in Cecil Road, Wimbledon, several hours later. Police believe the men may be linked to a larger criminal gang responsible for series of similar raids across the capital.

UK : East : Violent teenager and gang member sent down – from Leiston! A 17-YEAR-OLD who is part of a gang of youths believed to be terrorising a Suffolk town has been jailed for eight months following a string of offences.
The teenager, who cannot be named because of his age, was given a detention and training order for a number of incidents.

UK : East : 3 assaults in Norfolk And we wonder why the cops and councils don't want people on the streets late at night :hopeless:
OK its usually claimed that alcohol "is to blame" but a lot of other people drink (myself included) and don't go beating up people... also round here I've noticed an increasing amount of violence at dance music events - not robbery like in London but people just deciding to punch anyone they happen to disagree with...

UK : East : Babergh – a model for transparency in licensing laws Babergh is a small District Council in South Suffolk. I expect few people outside the area even knows they exist!
This, however is an excellent idea. you can check every venues license, its permitted hours, capacity etc. So the everything is transparent to citizens and if you are putting on an event you can choose the most suitable venue, and there is no risk of ambguity about its legality (such as the issues which befell hall parties elsewhere in the region).
if they merge with Mid Suffolk I hope this is extended to this region...

UK : SE : TVP’s operation Mitch locks down the ridgeway from TVP website
With the Harecoursing season having come to its end, Operation Migrate, our rural crime initiative, is being rested until September. However the Wantage and Faringdon neighbourhood teams are taking the lead in running Operation Mitch which will be actively targeting the illegal rave scene that often plagues our area throughout the warmer months. comments I have seen on other forums claim the area is being patrolled every weekend and even people who have got older, retired from the scene and are only there for picnics etc because they live nearby are being stopped and searched!
also now they can talk on Airwave to Wiltshire units and don't have the sketchy VHF radios any more what picked up so much interference in summer cops often had to let raves go ahead!
just proves it shouldn't have been rinsed in the mid 2000s..
UK : LDN(S) : Sweeney hunt South London swimming pool robbers! ROBBERS took advantage of bumper summer takings at a popular lido, holding up staff before making off with cash.
Police were called to Brockwell Lido in Dulwich Road, Herne Hill, just before 6am on June 28 following reports of a robbery.
Flying Squad officers are hunting four suspects in connection with the incident at the outdoor pool and leisure centre.
A police spokeswoman said the suspects entered the premises and threatened the duty manager, who believed the suspects had a gun.
She said: “It looks like the victim feared a gun was involved, but it wasn’t seen.”
The suspects stole cash from the premises then ran out, police said.

UK : East : Licensed premises restrictions in Bury to end A wholly obvious message here is rather than restrict all late night venues, to permit them to open with existing licensing rules but for the cops to deal robustly with those actually causing problems!
A “special area” licensing policy was brought in by St Edmundsbury Borough Council in January last year in Bury St Edmunds covering the area bounded by both sides of Abbeygate Street, Guildhall Street, Westgate Street, Crown Street and Angel Hill.
The rules forced licensees wanting to extend their hours or open a new venue to demonstrate their plans would not have a detrimental effect on neighbouring residents and businesses.
But council officers have recommended that the policy, which runs until January next year, should be discontinued due to lack of evidence that the cumulative effect of licensed venues was having a disproportionate impact.

Stop and Search Used Illegally Against Thousands Tens of thousands of people have been stopped in the street and searched unlawfully under controversial section 44 anti-terrorism powers, the Home Office has revealed.
Fourteen police forces are urgently trying to find the individuals involved so they can apologise to them after being told by the Home Office that errors had been found in the way 40 separate stop and search operations were authorised since the powers were introduced in 2001.

Marriage Visas and Weddings Receptions Abroad Okay, so does anyone know more in depth about this than me? If one person is traveling from Peru to England. A marriage visa for people in the UK is 18 I think.
So how do you go about getting married through a quick reception wedding in another country. Not the kind with loads of guests. The ones that are always shown to be a spontaneous Vegas wedding.
You have to pre book, Anyone have any ideas on usual charges? How long do things take to go through. What the interview for a marriage visa is like?
Can anyone who knows about marriage visas’ message or comment please its much less personal through internet searches they don’t directly answer things. (Yes its genuine not a fake scam)
UK : Police budget cuts the Conservacrats are slashing UK Police budgets...
realistically though this has happened before (even with Labour) and it has not resulted in cops being more lenient on illegal raves or party drugs (as it leads to complaints from locals) and raves can be stopped with existing resources in many areas - but what it may well result in is well run and safe TENS events and other legal events being tolerated...
I saw a few days ago a statement from a Superintendent of a Midlands constabulary stating that he would not expect to deploy additional police into any event using TENS in his force area as he trusted the organisers to provide sufficient marshals/stewards.
To get this level of tolerance does of course mean no fights, no NHS ambulances, no turf wars between dealers and no stupid behaviour outside the venue but surely its something worth working for? raves survived through the last Tory government because they genuinely were less hassle to the cops than townie events and the cops acknowledged that..
