UK : LDN (W) : Woman poisoned ex-lovers curry goodness gracious me! there's probably a Bollywood movie in this..
An interesting legal/political point is that these Sikh Indians were able to obtain a deadly poison (restricted in this nation) via "indian herbs" yet a British Muslim would probably get busted hard for keeping any sort of stuff like that at home..
A "jealous" woman poisoned her former lover and his new fiancée with a deadly toxin mixed into their curry, an Old Bailey jury has been told.
Lakhvinder Cheema, 39, died and Gurjeet Choough, 21, nearly lost her life in January 2008 after Lakhvir Kaur Singh spiked the dish, the court heard.

Ms Singh, 40, of Southall, west London, denies murder and attempted murder.
The couple had eaten a curry together at Mr Cheema's home in Feltham, west London, and then had become violently ill, said Edward Brown, QC, prosecuting.
Driver fined ‘for blowing nose’ An Ayrshire businessman says he has been fined by the police for blowing his nose while driving.
Michael Mancini, from Prestwick, said he was sitting in stationary traffic with the handbrake on when he used a tissue to clean his nose.
He claimed he was waved over by four police officers and given a fixed penalty for not being in proper control of his car. He has refused to pay the £60 fine and the case may now proceed to court. The 39-year-old, who runs a furniture restoration business in Ayr, said: "The traffic was nose to tail in the high street and the traffic stopped and I thought that was quite a good time (to blow his nose).
"I stopped the van and put the handbrake on. I saw four police officers nearby. The traffic moved on and I was waved across by an officer...

UK : NW (MCR) : White powder scare at Manchester airport ooops.. wonder what the powder was? don't think it was anything sinister but might have been someone being careless with a consignment of drone (hence why the feds didn't immediately arrest on drugs offences)
Part of a terminal at Manchester Airport closed and a chemical alert was declared after security staff found white powder in a piece of luggage.
The departure area of Terminal 3 was closed after a man tried to carry the unidentified powder on to an aircraft.
The man was planning to fly from Manchester to London.
The man has not been arrested, but is helping with inquiries, said police. A police source said the incident was not believed to be terror-related.
Tests are being conducted on the powder.
A Greater Manchester Police spokesman said: "Shortly before 1255 GMT police at Manchester Airport were called by security staff from the check-in desk at Terminal 3, who had discovered a non-identified white powder in a bag which a man was attempting to carry on to a plane.
"Officers attended along with the fire service and they declared it a chemical incident. Tests are currently on-going to establish what the powder is.
"The check-in desk at Terminal 3 has been cordoned off and a man in his 20s is helping police with their inquiries at the airport."
Flights departing from Terminal 3 were facing delays but arrivals and those leaving other terminals were not affected, the airport said.

UK : England : 31% drop in young offenders in 2 years
in 2008-09 21% less 10-17 year olds received their first reprimand or warning or conviction
in 2007-08 10% less 10-17 year olds received their first reprimand or warning or conviction
DCSF: Youth Crime: Young people aged 10-17 receiving their first reprimand, warning or conviction, England, 2008-09
Although people say govt statistics are often spun, I have also been independently monitoring crime figures in SE England (and more recently Eastern England) for about 15 years and I would agree with the above, also going by the attitudes of many of our younger users (aged 16-19) on this forum. I actually take my interest in criminology very seriously (ironically I turned down a transfer to the Home Office a few years ago!)
The reason this good news isn't widely reported is because its being overshadowed by crimes committed by slightly older people (from age 20+ to my age group) but I think as teenagers get a bad press it should be more widely mentioned..

Visiting the site early on Tuesday, Mr Putin added a bouquet of roses to the assortment of flowers, candles and victims' photos outside the club.

Cold Calls on Mobiles? I've been getting loads of cold calls on my mobile phone recently. I haven't given my number out to any companies, rang any sex lines (that i can remember) so i can't see how they have my number.
I'm getting several a day and it's seriously pissing me off now. You get em on the house phone which happens but to me a mobile is much more private and i can't believe these cunts can get away with it.
Has anyone been getting similar calls on their mobiles and also is there anything that can be done about it? :crazy_diz
