UK : East : Pig Tractor when I saw the title I thought my friends had actually built a tractor pulled by pigs (like huskies on a dog sled) but that would be silly even by British standards as it would take a lot of time to train them and folk would get overattached and not want to make them into pork and bacon (like the dude from Groningen singing "heb jij mien zwien ook zien" :wink:)
but the idea is to plough that field, as its not quite big enough for a full size tractor and not environment friendly and you would hold up traffic driving it up there anyway.

“It was tangled in fishing netting, with line and rope all round its neck and was finding it hard to breathe.
“There was a deep cut part of the way round its neck caused by the net.
“I used the scissors from my horse grooming kit to cut off the netting – it was a bit panicky and kept trying to bite me!
“I then cleaned the wound with the saline solution and it went back into the sea.”
Miss Warrington, who works at the Clifftop Café in Felixstowe and is also a volunteer at the town’s Blue Cross animal rescue centre, said her gran and a beach walker helped hold the seal while she worked on it. Her dog Tilly, a Blue Cross rescue dog, found the seal.

Rant.. ANimals..and why they piss me off Ok I want all of you to know i am Not a animal hater... But it REally pisses me off when i see Stray animals on the street... I personally will not own an animal... only bc I do not want to take care of something when i have a heard time taking care of myself. So the way i see it i am doing the world a favor...But i fucking cant stand it when i see sick dogs and cats on the streets bc someone wanted an animal but didnt take care of it.... I dont know why it pisses me off like it does but I just makes me want to punch a cunt..... ANyone else feel the same or is it just me12

A pine marten is related to the stoat and weasel, but bigger (about the size of a medium build pet cat). Presumably it gets sent off and a red card for this..

UK : Scot : He is the walrus… A walrus has turned up on a small Scottish island in what has been described as a "once in a lifetime" event.
The animal, thought to be a young male, was spotted on the shoreline of North Ronaldsay in Orkney.
It appeared to be in good health and happy to be the centre of attention.

Otters' reproductive organs may be affected by chemicals in our waterways, according to scientists.
Experts studying the reproductive health of the mammals in England and Wales were concerned to find a decrease in the weight of otters' penis bones.
Other health problems in males included an increase in undescended testicles and cysts on sperm-carrying tubes.
Experts suggest that, based on previous research, the changes could be linked to hormone-disrupting chemicals.
The study, funded by the Environment Agency, was co-authored by the Chemicals, Health and Environment (CHEM) Trust and the Cardiff University Otter Project, and features on BBC One series Countryfile.

MY : Man finds stray bear cub outside house. Sabah is fairly rural, It is a bit like the Malaysian equivalent of Kings Lynn.. :wink:
but the forest is still some km away - you are not supposed to keep this bear as a pet without a license and not in a suburban residential area either! Once the Zoo have checked the cub is OK, it will go to the Sun Bear rehab centre which is in the Borneo jungle and more suitable for it.
KOTA KINABALU: The non-stop barking of his dog made a 38-year-old businessman step out of his house to take a look.
Blue Lum saw what looked like a puppy in his car porch.
“I left it alone and went in to watch television,” he said.
When the barking continued, Lum's son went out to look and was shocked to discover there was a sun bear cub outside.
Lum said he immediately asked his son to come back into the house and then called the Civil Defence Department.
Kota Kinabalu Civil Defence Department officer Mohd Hazle Shah Hamid said a call was received at about 10pm and officers were immediately despatched to capture the cub.
“It was not violent when our officers carried it and put it in a cage.
“We suspect the sun bear cub was being kept by someone as it was unlikely to have wandered here from the forest,” he said.
Rangers from the Lok Kawi Zoo arrived about an hour later and the cub is now in their care.
The sun bear or honey bear is found in the tropical rainforest of peninsula Malaysia and the islands of Sumatra and Borneo.
