Fuck the EDL (and the police) The bastard EDL were having a protest in my hometown of Birmingham today, there was also an opposition rally being held by the UAF (unite against fascism) so I thought why not, lets get involved and show these bastards that they will not freely spout their hatred in my town if I have anything to say about it. Was cool to go out and meet a lot of nice peeps, some hardcore anti-fascists there and quite a big anti-police vibe - rightly so if you ask me, they were being dickheads all day, heavy handed with everyone. I saw them quite forcefully rag up a woman and throw her to the ground just because she was being quite vocal about her views. As they were letting us out of the kettle we had been kept in for two hours they filmed everyone so they had all of our faces, sure I understand this is probably just to make it easier to identify anyone involved in trouble later in the day, but it just pisses me off how much power and control they have over us.
I also saw one copper being forceful with another man and when the man asked for his badge number the fed completely ignored him and was covering up his badge number, he asked for it about 10 times and the fed ignored him everytime (the guy then began to film this). There was, unfortunately, a lot of young asian lads who had come just to cause trouble with the EDL, wearing balaclavas and being aggressive - not helping the UAF cause at all really and giving themselves a bad name, they are almost just as bad as the EDL really. There was a lot of decent people there also just peacefully showing support, and I'm glad I finally got off my arse to go one of these things, I think I'm going to start going to a lot more.
I also was a bit mashed still from last night and I fell asleep lying down on some steps and some people woke me up, they thought I had collapsed and were about to give me CPR!! LOL
UNITE AGAINST FASCISM PEEPS AND FUCK THE POLICE!!! raaaraaa12

Ding Dong the witch is dead! Every one really should buy it. This song has to reach number and get played on the BBC...
BBC Radio 1 is planning to play Ding Dong the Witch is Dead, the Wizard of Oz track being bought by anti-Thatcher protesters in the wake of the former prime minister's death, on its chart show on Sunday.
However, in what is thought to be a first for the BBC chart show, the corporation is considering having a Newsbeat reporter explain why a song from the 30s is charting to Radio 1's target audience of 16- to 24-year-olds – none of whom will remember Margaret Thatcher's controversial premiership.
In what could be seen as the first major test for the new director general, Tony Hall, BBC insiders said the track is likely to be played if it makes it into the top of the charts in defiance of criticism from Tory supporters.
The Official Charts Company said on Thursday morning that Ding Dong the Witch is Dead was on course to reach number four, up from 10 the previous day.
The Daily Mail has been leading the charge against Facebook and Twitter campaigners trying to push the song, which has become the anthem of anti-Thatcher protesters.

The decade of destruction List natural and government/war related incidents from 2010-2020..
' this is the decade of destruction.
Ok so my memory of previous events is pretty terrible, so lets start with...
2011 - England riots caused from police shooting mark dougan
2012 - Japanese nuclear melt down, earthquakes, philapeanes earthquake, loads more which I can't remember, government exposed by Julian asange seeking refuge.
2013 - earthquakes worldwide (same as every year), possible war on Iran, invasion on multiple middle eastern countries and rebellions on their leaders, America threatens n. Korea, bomb explosion in Boston.
so, constant earthquakes and 'natural disasters' constantly occurring, constant bombs going off killing tens of people daily in middle eastern countries, government spending more money on power than helping Africa (a dying country and population in dyre need)12
UK: Rave party organisers ‘not told of noise complaints’ – March 2001 Rave party organisers 'not told of noise complaints'
By thisisessex - Wednesday 14 March 2001

The organisers of an illegal rave party in Colchester have defended the event which they say was a huge success.
Despite the fact they did not have permission to be on the disused site of the former railway social club in Magdalen Street, the pair say they were never told about residents' complaints about noise.
The first calls about the loud music from the "free party" were made in the early hours of Sunday and continued throughout the night.
Organiser Matt, who refused to give his surname, said the event began at about 10.30pm and revellers were still enjoying the music at 8.30am.
He said they went in at midday on Saturday to clear up and make it safe.
"We did not have permission or anything like that but it is a derelict site."
He said there were no plans to return to the site, adding: "We never go back to the same place twice."
But he said he and the other organisers spoke to police officers who asked if everything was OK.
"They turned up with an ambulance because they thought someone was unwell, but they weren't and then we invited them in but they said they didn't need to.
"They came back at 8.30am and took our names and addresses and were very nice and pleasant to us but they did not mention once that there had been complaints about the noise or ask us to turn it down," added Matt.
A spokesman for the police said they were still looking into the event but had not intervened because of the scale and the amount of people there.
"It would have taken half the county's police force to go in there and break it up safely and we did not feel that was necessary," he added.

NL : Elections – Mark Rutte remains but victories for Green thinking and God… Interesting set of results - at least Wilders did not get the large surge of support expected; it does look like a lot of the centre right support shifted towards the two Christian parties of NL, whilst left wingers moved away from the traditional PVdA (Labour Party) towards more environmentally friendly parties such as the GroenLinks (Green Left) and PvdD (Party for the animals) which got 5 seats.
A party aimed at Muslims (Denk) also got two seats.
A shame the NL Pirate Party didn't win any seats in spite of making it clear they were not a single issue tech obsessed party (they are in fact just as "right on" and diverse as all the other progressive organisations in NL) but that did also mean a lot of their policies crosssed over with GroenLinks and PvdD..

UK : James Bond would not be employed by real MI6/Secret Intelligence Service To be fair this doesn't surprise me one bit; in real life this kind of work is mundane, dogged by bureaucracy, thankless and psychologically demanding. Also Bond is getting progressively older in the movies (and so would be the villains); IMO in the next one they should have him chasing them on a mobility scooter and being reminded by "M" to take his pills every few hours :laugh_at:
One of our patients a few years ago was ex-GCHQ from the cold war, having transferred there from the Post Office/BT - I felt a bit sorry for him as not only was he suffering both dementia and PTSD, he still couldn't talk to any carers about his work and he was always trying to escape out the doors.
Once I was working on telephone lines in the roofspace, and he was watching me intently trying to find the interception point (he used to tap the lines to Malaya and HongKong from China, I think he had got it into his head that he might be able to spring the doors open somehow)
Whilst I was up the ladder he (accidentally) decided to grab hold of that to steady himself instead of his rollator which he had placed next to it (to get a better look at what I was doing); giving me such a fright (the job was hectic enough as it is as its dark up there and I'd temporarily disconnected the main line to the nursing home) I ended up knocking the hand lamp down - this fell to the floor with a great crash and narrowly missed him by 1m, at which he decided to back off slightly (although I was more worried for his safety than mine!).
The noise attracted the matron, who asked both of us - "how do you keep track of all those wires?" - we both explained the colour code for multipair cables, which is blue/orange/brown/green/slate(grey),with group identifier colours white, red, black, yellow, violet that hasn't changed in a century and in spite of his Alzheimers he still remembered it raaa.
(the first few are still found today in cat6 cable)

The Million Mask March on 5th November by Anonymous On Saturday the 5th of November at 6pm in Trafalgar Square Anonymous will be holding the annual Million Mask March to protest against the establishment. This is the 5th event so far as the first one took place in 2011 as part of the global occupy movement. Anonymous has invited everyone who hates government policies such as austerity cuts and allowing corporate tax dodging etc to join this mass protest. Here is also the Facebook event:

NL : 10 000 people attend pro-multiculturalism rally in Amsterdam, 0 police reports They tried the same thing in Ipswich but only 30 or so people turned up (as it wasn't as well publicised compared to the Dutch event - for some reason left-leaning social activist folk in Ipswich don't seem to be online at weekends (or very much at all)) and others still whinged about it in the comments section of the newspaper.
In NL the pirate party (and I expect some other political organisations) had been publicising the event for 2 weeks or more to the point I could easily work out the route (in spite of being 500km away). Best of all there was literally zero police incidents - in comparison the Oktoberfest in Germany kept the Polizei very busy indeed with all sorts of unpleasantness.
The news report in Dutch is below with some pictures...

DE : Germans debate new advice about emergency supplies packs They suggest 10 litres water per person, enough food supplies for 10 days, real cash (in Euro notes and coins) and spare primary batteries for torches, transistor radios etc.
This is the first time since the Cold War the Germans have updated their emergency supplies suggestions (which were about the same anyway) and is part of a wider debate about civil protection and emergency planning procedures. It does to be fair make sense given that Germany is a physically large country bordered by coast on one side and is prone to extremes of weather (on top of the current global/political situation where it is under strain both from migration and a backlash from its own citizens especially disaffected young men....)
Article from Dutch NPO (the Dutch are also encouraged to keep these supplies but on a lesser scale and it is less commonly practised).

DK/DE : German tourist in Denmark killed by 30kg stone thrown at moving vehicle This is worrying - although bored teenage kids throwing small stones onto roads is (or was) a common problem in many areas (including just down the road from me in Essex, Eastern England) and the DR news reports many similar incidents, most kids across Europe struggle lifting anything over 10 kilos, other than those training to be bodybuilders/athletes.
These kind of concrete blocks also cost a good few Euros each and thus are not casually left lying around (otherwise folk will nick them).
I have hauled a few of them myself about 11 years ago when I was helping a friend build his recording studio in SE England (they are as you would expect good for soundproofing) - when doing a job like this no matter how fit and strong you might think you are (they are the limit of what a normal person can lift single handed) after a few minutes of that you really do not want to haul them one more cm further than they have to go.
As the detective says himself it would likely have taken at least two grown adults and a motor vehicle to transport these items.
Unfortunately a German vehicle always stands out as the license plates contain distinctive designs on them which relate to the Länder it was registered in; and all this Brexit stuff has stirred the pot in other countries than the UK...
At least the strong building regulations and quality control of Europe mean that the detectives even know what company made the blocks and roughly where they might have come from, hopefully they can catch this dangerous criminal.

UK : East : ‘Terrorists’ comment to Muslim shop worker lands Ipswich man in court The penalties here seem fair and the offender does appear to show remorse - turns out he is himself an immigrant to Britain and appears unaware that in British English "booze" is widely used as a slang term for any alcohol, not just cheap/strong stuff - the use of this term is not a comment on his drinking habits.
She wouldn't even have known about his previous alcohol problems, and nor would anyone else had he not kicked off to such an extent he ended up before the beak!
Also if the young woman at the shop cannot be named in Court due to her age, she is
UK : East : Police patrols in Ipswich stepped up since Brexit Currently there are double the number of Police cars on routine patrol in Ipswich (including fast traffic and armed response vehicles) especially in areas with higher multicultural populations and around school collection time (14:00-16:00 depending on type of school).
I'd expect this in London and other cities but to be fair Ipswich has remained fairly safe and tolerant in comparison; although I can't help but wonder how much of this is because there are bobbies watching to make sure people don't do anything out of order (and Norfolk is coping as the extra units are now shared between the two counties)
However I've noticed a slight increase in tension amongst teams of younger staff if they are a mixture of English and European people and older work colleagues who have children and grandchildren have told me there is tension rising with namecalling of kids and families; other staff at work who are from overseas are saying stuff like "if we go back to our country on leave can we return and keep our jobs? will we get stopped at border control now?"
also all the younger people who voted Brexit have suddenly realised their foreign holidays and duty free goods are more expensive.....
That said I don't think there is any major threat and although the ARVs and traffic units look scarier I suspect the main reason they are there really isn't because there are maniacs with guns but during bad economic times people become more angry and distracted when driving and more collisions occur.
I remember the same in the USA in the region where all that oil was pissing out everywhere near gulf of Mexico, the sherrif was interviewed on the BBC and said had SWAT teams on per$manent standby and FBI assistance but his force actually had to deploy more traffic resources and the family protection teams as domestic disputes rose through the roof (I am also seeing a lot more SNT (safer neighbourhood team) activity on the estate I live in and seen two bluelight runs in the last two days))
NL : A big power cut in SE Amsterdam, 25 000 buildings off supply Was reading an article about a large drugs bust in the same region (café owner busted with 1800 xtc-pills, 1 kilo cocaine, firearms and stolen goods!) but also noticed this as well.
Some equipment in a big substation (the incoming electricity can be as strong as 150 000 V or 50 000V; it gets transformed to 10 000V) has gone badly wrong; electricity networks engineers went to inspect it but found the whole building was full with smoke.
That usually means the cooling oil in the trafo has overheated; the smoke is often highly toxic so the Fire Brigade must decontaminate the area first before any further work can be carried out. The electricity company advise it will be 01:00 CEST before they can start restoring power.
9 trams are stopped in the street (also causing a traffic jam) many people are tweeting they are stuck in lifts (at least KPN and T-Mobile have put accus in their mobile base stations!) - the Fire Brigade are also freeing these people. I was surprised they did not call 112 rather than tweeting but I suppose that also means their friends and family know what has happened...
