The father and mother of six children killed in a house fire were this morning arrested on suspicion of their murder.
In a dramatic development, Mick Philpott, 55, and his wife Mairead, 31, are in custody being questioned by detectives about the horrific blaze.
Just two weeks ago the couple, both from Derby, wept uncontrollably at an emotional press conference as officers described how petrol had been poured through the family’s letterbox and set alight.

A naked man was shot and killed by Miami police when he reportedly refused to stop eating another naked man’s face.
“I wouldn’t say he had mental problem, but he always felt like people was against him. No one was for him, everyone was against him,” his ex-wife, who filed for divorce in 2007, told WPLG.
The victim is alive in the hospital, trying to recover from injuries suffered in the attack.
The strange, horrific drama was filmed by the Miami Herald’s surveillance camera on Saturday, where the naked man was found eating the other naked man’s face off the city’s MacArthur Causeway.
A witness to the disturbing crime, Larry Vega, had been riding his bike past the scene. He tried to get the “cannibal man” to stop, but he would not relent.
“I told him to get off and the other guy just kept eating the other guy away,” he told WSVN-Fox 7.
Vega then notified authorities, who commanded the “cannibal” to stop.
“The guy just stood, his head up like that, with pieces of flesh in his mouth. And he growled,” the cyclist added.
To make the story even more frightening, when the officer fired, police said the attacker continued to chew on the other man’s face, forcing the officer to continue shooting until the suspect was dead.
Police believe the “cannibal man” may have been hallucinating due to a “drug-induced mania.”
Eugene may have suffered from a cocaine psychosis or an overdose of bath salts, a synthetic drug that has been likened to a new form of LSD, according to reports. The drug causes the body to heat up, making some people to strip off their clothes, the Miami Herald reported.
“Seventy-five to 80 percent of his face was missing, and he was actually swallowing pieces of the man’s face,” a police official told NBC 6.

A Pakistani doctor who helped the US track down Osama bin Laden has been convicted of high treason and sentenced to 33 years in prison.
Shakil Afridi was also ordered to pay a fine of about 3,500 US dollars (£2,200), said government official Nasir Khan.
If Afridi does not pay, he will spend another three and half years in prison.
Mr Khan is a government official in Pakistan's Khyber tribal area, where Afridi was tried.
Afridi ran a vaccination programme for the CIA to collect DNA and verify bin Laden's presence at the compound in the town of Abbottabad, where he was killed last May by US commandos.
US secretary of state Hillary Clinton has called for Afridi to be released, saying his work served Pakistani and American interests.
Afridi was detained some time after the raid on May 2 last year, but the start of his trial was never publicised.
"He was working for a foreign spy agency. We are looking after our national interests," said a Pakistani intelligence official.
The US operation that killed bin Laden severely strained ties with Pakistan. The Pakistani government kicked out US military trainers and limited counter-terrorism co-operation with the CIA.
The relationship got worse in November when the US killed 24 Pakistani soldiers at two posts along the Afghan border, an attack that Washington said was an accident but the Pakistani army insisted was deliberate.
