May Day Carnival & People’s Assembly – Sat 01 May 10 – London On International Worker's Day, Saturday 1st May 2010, the Four Horsefolk of the Post-Capitalist Apocalypse will take to the streets again at the head of four May Day Carnival Parades.

All four Parades will converge on Parliament Square at 2:30pm, and the carcasses of the four party leaders will be hung, drawn and quartered, or guillotined in accordance with the wishes of the assembled multitudes in a May Day Carnival. A People's Assembly will convene on the green, where people can meet as equals to decide what we really want. Election Meltdown has been invited by the Peace Camp at Parliament Square to set up a Direct Democracy Camp from May Day, Sat May 1st, till the so-called election on Thursday May 6th. Bring tents and sleeping bags, besiege Parliament and join the People's Assembly!

“The English people believes itself to be free; it is gravely mistaken; it is free only during election of members of parliament; as soon as the members are elected, the people is enslaved; it is nothing. In the brief moment of its freedom, the English people makes such a use of that freedom that it deserves to lose it.” ~ Jean-Jacques Rousseau (French philosopher and writer whose novels inspired the leaders of the French Revolution, 1712-1778)

If you are satisfied that you are being represented in this election by politicians of honesty and integrity who put yours and the planet's interests before theirs, then you need do nothing but select between such morally upstanding individuals.
Otherwise, if you are furious about the continued onslaught in Afghanistan, about more and more money being poured into bankers gambling debts while ordinary people's jobs go to the wall, and about the complete and utter silence among the party leaders on Climate Change while relying on a volcano to save the planet... then come and join the camp!
“Real change comes about not because we vote for it, but because we fight for it, shout for it, work for it. Placing hopes and fears on who holds power, or who will gain power through voting, is wasting time which might be spent in creating alternatives, both for ourselves and for our communities.” ~ Chumbawamba, 1987
Can we oust the bankers from power?
Can we get rid of the corrupt politicians in their pay?
Can we guarantee everyone a job, a home, a future?
Can we establish government by the people, for the people, of the people?
Can we abolish all borders and be patriots for our planet?
Can we all live sustainably and stop climate chaos?
Can we make capitalism history?
YES WE CAN!

DEATH TO THE OLD, CORRUPT ORDER –
POWER TO THE PEOPLE'S ASSEMBLY!
David someone on radio 4 just this second didn't know who David Cameron is, are we really sure this everyone gets an equal vote thing makes total sense?12…45
AF : A lucky soldier! Lance Sergeant Richard French thought his friends were messing around and throwing things at his helmet while he was manning a radio at a new command post in Babaji, Helmand.
However, the 28-year-old soon realised it was a much more serious issue - the second he spotted the grenade he leapt for cover.
He said: "I thought the blokes on stag were throwing stones at me as a joke, so I started to shout some friendly abuse at them.
"Then, in an instant, I realised what had happened.
"I shouted 'grenade' and dived on the floor to my right.

BP want to start extracting oil from the tar sands, the single most destructive project on earth – fuelling climate chaos and trampling the rights of indigenous communities.
We want to stop them.
On Saturday 10 April, hundreds of people from London and beyond will gather at the pumps to send a message to BP: "You're not going into the tar sands without a fight!"
Come to a mass action! Bring yourselves, your friends, whistles and drums if you have them, and a Zone 1-2 travel card. Meet at Oxford Circus and be ready to make a move to our final destination.

This action is part of the BP Fortnight of Shame. Organised by London Rising Tide/London Tar Sands Network, in solidarity with the Indigenous Environmental Network.
» No Tar Sands
The BP Fortnight of Shame (01-15 April 2010) is a call to action from the UK Tar Sands Network, Rising Tide, the Camp for Climate Action and the Indigenous Environmental Network to force BP to reverse their crazy plans to move into Canada's tar sands. It runs between the annual Fossil Fools day on 01 April, which in recent years has seen a flurry of action against the fossil fuels industry, and BP's Annual General Meeting on 15 April. Grassroots groups across the UK and around the world, will be taking action in solidarity with First Nations communities in Canada to stop BP's deadly plans in their tracks.

Election Meltdown Mobilisation gathering #5 – Sat 27 – Sun 28 Mar 10 – London The Great COP-15 Cop-Out in December 2009 showed how The Powers That Be cannot even be prevailed upon to meet their own woefully low expectations in co-operating to halt the Catastrophic Climate Chaos Crisis into which they are plunging humanity and our ecosphere. So it's time to begin making ourselves ungovernable by their discredited and bakrupt Parliamentary representative democracy, by developing our own dynamic and blossoming Participatory direct democracy – through the People's Assemblies called for by the emergent Climate Justice International.

From co-creating a May Day Carnival in Parliament Square, fed by four convergent Carnival Parades, to taking up the call from the Climate Justice International to convene People's Assemblies in the Square and elsewhere, these are exciting times for those who would actively create a popular, truly democratic, and ecologically harmonious future for human civilisation and our biosphere. We're an Open Network collective, open to individuals and groups who'd like to collaborate face-to-face and online, to build a better world for all life on Earth – so YOU are invited, to help broaden out these initiatives, add in your own to the mix, and spread the word before the UK general election: there IS a 'System Change not Climate Change' alternative to the mainstream party's planet-wrecking austerity measures – because We Weave Our Destiny With Our Own Hands!

Three Fingers for Corrupt Swindlers – protesters outside Westminster Magistrates Court when four corrupt Parliamentarians first appeared on false accounting charges
On Tueday 30 March 2010, at Southwark Crown Court, three Labour MPs and a Tory Lord will be put on trail for Theft and Embezzlement. Eliot Morley MP, David Chaytor MP, Jim Devine MP and Baron Hanningfield are being used as scapegoats to vent public outrage at the corrupt politicians without the real criminals having to change their ways. The courts cannot provide the justice we need. The system must be put on trial, not just these four corrupt scapegoats. Election Meltdown therefore calls for a PEOPLE'S COURT to put the whole system on trial. People from all over the country will come to Southwark to add their voices to the clamour for REAL CHANGE, not just false reforms!

Englishness – the "forbidden" identity I definitely feel that more progressive people should not be ashamed of being English, nor is being English only available to those of white skin.. but at the same time it should not be an excuse for intolerance against other nations in the UK or their cultures..
First, we found that the belief that government and polite society disapprove of Englishness is a key ingredient in the soil in which populist nationalism has flourished. A concerted progressive engagement with English identity and culture would help starve this unpleasant plant of much of its oxygen.

Protesters at Tesco site in Bristol Evicted BBC News - Protesters at Tesco site in Bristol evicted
Protesters at Tesco site in Bristol evicted
Bailiffs have evicted nine of the 10 squatters occupying the site of a planned Tesco Express in Bristol.
Police said four people had been arrested for public order offences.
One man remained on a flat roof above the former Jesters comedy club in Stokes Croft with his arm encased in a barrel of concrete.
Sabet Choudhury reports.
"last independent high street in britain" :hopeless:
Something to think about… Next time you go for a long drive (especially to a party or other not strictly essential bit of travel), or buy a new gadget, or do anything else what consumes oil (including using your computer!) - It doesn't matter for shit if you disagree with the war (which is fair enough and understandable) - you still can't avoid having some blood on your hands..
Our lifestyles in Britain and Europe depend on oil and the reality beyond the politicians' many lies is this is what these dudes are fighting for - this abundance of energy gives us the power to obtain and take drugs, go to raves and post on forums like this...
Everyone was up for 0345 hours this morning to go out on more clearance patrols. Then at about 0615, there was a big explosion. Everyone looked at each other instantly. Then over the radio net came “CONTACT IED!” another look of shock came across our faces.
Seconds later – “We have a casualty!” everyone went quiet, then “it’s Foxy!” The adrenaline and training kicked in. We started to prep the ‘9 liner’, a situation report needed to send up the chain of command to make them aware of what had happened and of the injuries sustained.
Moments later the medivac helicopter was wheels up from Camp Bastion. Over the net – “he’s in a bad way!” Again, we looked at each other.
....
Roughly 15 minutes later the boss heard confirmation over the radio – “Your casualty is KIA”.
I looked at Donny (who had just replaced me on the radio stag) in disbelief willing him to say that I had misheard it. He just looked down and shook his head.

Its just on radio 4 now but if you get it off I player in a bit its really worth a quick listen, skip (if u wish) the first bits and there's an interview with someone who was part of the start of the rave scene (and the drug dealing that went with it) and what happened to him. I found it really interesting.
Its about a 15 min interview
Election Meltdown Mobilisation – Sat 30 & Sun 31 Jan 10 – London • You are cordially invited to attend..
• An open-ended meeting, arranged so people can consider how a coalition of groups and tendencies might mobilise together in 2010, for a new society. All groups and individuals committed to a world free of oppression, very welcome.

It's very interesting imo, Archaeologist are finding artefacts encased in coal that is dated as being Hundreds of thousand years old. Seriously weird shit!
