German army in "Racist video" row Shame on them..
But it probably happens in Denmark and UK too :hopeless:
I just hate racists..Does that make me a racist too ??
Quote:
A video aired on German TV has shown an army recruit on firing practice being ordered to pretend he was in New York's Bronx facing hostile African Americans.
In the grainy 90-second video, the instructor tells the soldier to swear as he fires his gun.
US civil rights leader, Al Sharpton, said it was outrageous to depict blacks as "target practice".
New York officials say they are saddened and frustrated that the Bronx district is depicted so negatively.
"Clearly these folks don't know anything about African-Americans or the Bronx," said Bronx borough president Adolfo Carrion Jnr, who recently returned from a trip to Germany to promote tourism to the district.
He has demanded an apology from the Germany military over the clip.
Skulls
During the filmed training session, an instructor tells the soldier: "You're in the Bronx, a black van pulls up in front of you and three African-Americans get out and start really insulting your mother... act!".
The soldier then fires his gun several times and shouts obscenities in English, as the instructor encourages him to curse even louder.
The clip was filmed in a forest in July 2006, near the barracks of the northern German town of Rendsburg .
The German army said it has been aware of the video since January and was investigating it.
It is the latest in a series of scandals to hit the German military.
A group of 18 army instructors are on trial in the country accused of abusing and humiliating recruits during training in 2004.
Last year, German newspapers published images of German soldiers serving in Afghanistan posing with skulls.
Can't find the video anywhere yet

Embarrassment ????? EMBARRESSMENT???? think it's the press who is embarrassing
:head_bang:head_bang:head_bang Why does the FCUKING press just let him be!!!!!!
It makes me so angry..I wouldn't like paparazzies following my every move..
It's not like he chose to be royal himself..
I'm sure some of you have another opinion about that, but I feel so sorry for him
Prince Harry is "dangerously becoming an embarrassment to this country", a veteran royal photographer has said.
Arthur Edwards, who works for The Sun newspaper, criticised the 22-year-old Army officer over pictures which showed him allegedly lashing out at a member of the paparazzi as he left a nightclub.
Edwards called Harry a "fabulous young man" but said he should be "behaving a lot better".
The Prince is currently on leave from the Army ahead of being sent to Iraq for a six-month tour of duty.
Speaking to the BBC, Edwards said: "I think Prince Harry is dangerously becoming an embarrassment to this country.

Freedom of speech ???????? After some American put a video clip on youtube showing the King of Thailand in a bad light (bad light that's what the papers are saying) youtube has been blocked in Thailand.
There are also rumors about the goverment session hacking (they can see everything I'm doing on the internet)
Now this ask's questions about free speach and how far it goes ?
I know that sentence condridicts it's self but you see what I'm getting at.
Here's the info Via google
http://www.google.co.th/search?hl=th&q=youtube+blocked+in+Thailand&meta=
Here is the question. Does freedom of speech mean we should shut our mouths when it comes to certain topics ?
are you A or B
Why do we still get up at cockcrow and when the cows moo,
when only 5% of the population work within agriculture or fishing?
Why does everything have to take place in the same rhythm and pace,
resulting in a huge problem with our infrastructure?
Why has the societal framework primarily been arranged to suit
people working from 8 am to 4 pm?
Let the tyranny of A-time end. Let us create a B-society.
Let us create B-patterns in our work and in our families.
Let us have quiet mornings and active evenings.
Life is too short for traffic jams. Let us have more all-night shops!
There is a general consensus that, in the future, Denmark and many other
countries will have to make a living from the inner processes of thought,
i.e. ideas, creativity, innovation and design. In the innovation society we
will be paid for thinking – and this work of thought is an inner process best
stimulated when working rhythms and working hours are individual.
It therefore becomes important to work when one is most productive.
B-society has good social economics as it generates quality of life as well
as productivity if B-persons work when they are at their mental peak.
B-Science
Science has shown that our biological rythms through ”a day” (i.e.
”Nychthemeron” = ” a day and a night”) are regulated by so called
”clock-genes”.
B-persons has an inner day-and-night lasting 25-27 hours, whereas A-persons
has one that runs through approximately 23 hours.
Any individual has it´s own inner rythm throgh one day-and-night (”Circadian
rythm”) and it´s own sense of time for time and planning of time. There are
lots of different kinds of circadian rythms. Most people are B-persons, which
means that their circadian rythm has a cycle that runs through 25 hours.
Therfore these persons has a tendency to stretch their ”nychthemeron”.
B-persons finds it easy to stay awake in the evening; but has difficulties
waking up in the morning – the time where the A-persons are most active.
Every human has a so called inner clock, which is regulated by the earlier
mentioned clock-genes.
A B-person has a strive for staying awake untill late at night – for instance,
to go to bed at 1 or 2 a.m. and then sleep a little longer in the morning.
If a B-person and an A-person goes to sleep at the same time, and rise at the
same time early, the morning wil be experienced differently as the body-temperature
of the A-person is higher than that of the B-person at this point. The
B-person therefore has a very good reason for feeling drowsy, as it is still
”night” (”time for sleep”) for the B-person.
Further, one family has been followed and tested for several years in
the USA. They have "FASPS", familial advanced sleep phase syndrome.
See, for example, http://www.hhmi.org/news/ptacek2.html.
A group of scientists has found out that humans that are extremely
A-persons has a genetic flaw or disturbance.
15 – 25 percent of the population are B-persons, 10 -15 percent are A-persons.
The rest of the population are more or less either one or the other, or
something in between.
B-work
B-Society’s is working towards a more flexible labour market.
B-Work is flexible and gives you the possibility to work in accord
to your own rhythm.
There are both good bottom line and higher life quality in B-Work.
B-Society is convinced that it is necessary to force a showdown
over the industrial society’s centralized time discipline, according
to which everybody must come at a particular moment and leave
at a particular moment, and where life is compartmentalized into
time for work, time for family, time for leisure and time for vacations.
There is enormous waste of resources in the society organized
according to the ‘larks’ with rigid office hours and misunderstandings
around efficiency of working time. For today much work is carried
out independently of time and place. More and more people can work
anywhere and at any time, and more and more work is invisible in
the process of production. We should therefore move from Chronos
designating the mechanical and apportioned clock to Kairos
designating the most opportune times for work. Hence, it is about
working at those times when one is being at his or her most productive
instead of being parked at work from one particular moment to
another particular moment in order to demonstrate one’s involvement,
yet then perform the most productive work at home in front of a
computer in the evening hours. It is a fact that it is unproductive for
the ‘owls’ dealing with knowledge, creativity and innovation to be at
work at 8:00 without being present mentally since their productivity is
peaking in the afternoon and in the evening. It is different rhythms of
people that generate good bottom line in the innovation-driven society.
B-Certification
B-Society is working with B-Certification of employers that accept
and respect the working rhythm of the ‘owls’. B-Certification will enable
the ‘owls’ to navigate in the labour market and find those workplaces
that have actually implemented flexible working hours as well as show
respect to and accept of life and work rhythm of the ‘owls’.
B-Society
B-Society will create a new daily rhythm in schools and other
institutions as an alternative to the current rhythm of “early at work
and early at home”.
The society’s time structures based on habits of the early riser’s
are not untouchable natural laws even though it can easily seem so
from looking at the ways in which we have organized our lives. No.
The ‘owl’ has got the right to say: “Give me the late riser’s rhythm at
work, at home and in society. Let me come to work at 11:00 and go
home at 20:00. Let me have quiet mornings to read my newspaper and
ease into the day gently and peacefully”.
B-Politics
B-Society will create a more flexible society that supports the way of life
of the ‘owls’ as well. A society which accepts and respects a later start of
the working day because it suits a person’s individual rhythm and lifestyle.
For it is persons’ different rhythms that underpin the growth of social wealth.
When a person works in accord to his or her rhythm, it will furthermore
result in higher life quality and hence less stress.
It is the widely held opinion that Denmark’s prosperous future will depend
on the inner mental processes: ideas, creativity, innovation and design.
In the innovation-driven society we are paid to think, and mental work is
an inner process that is stimulated most successfully through individual
work rhythms and working hours. It is therefore a matter of working at the
time of the day when an individual’s productivity is at its highest.
There are good social and economical benefits in the acceptance of the
‘owls’ as it creates both life quality and productivity because these persons
can work when they are peaking mentally.
Hand free sets just as dangerous
Quote:
Drivers talking on hands-free mobile phones are just as dangerous as those holding phones, a Government study has found.
Drivers who use earpieces or speakers still have slow reaction times and are likely to miss hazards and signs, according to the research.
Using a hand-held phone while driving is punishable by a £60 frine and three penalty points.
But the report, carried out by the Transport Research Laboratory, said that this could encourage drivers to think hands-free kits were safe.
It said that hands-free phones may also have to be banned and suggested that employers tell staff not to use any phone while driving for work.
The report concluded: "This study deomonstrates that driving and talking is cognitively demanding and results in poorer driving performance.
"Talking on a hands-free phone while driving can result in poor decision making."
Recent studies in Australia and the US also found that hands-free phones were no safer than hand-held phones.
A study by the University of Utah found that driving while using any type of phone was as bad as drink-driving.
:crazy::crazy::crazy:
So what next?
Ban talking to passengers?
listening to the radio?
Traffic reports?
Taxi Drivers talking on the radio?
Police communicating with headquarters?
What on earth do we do if we sneeze or wont we be allowed to?
Do you think hands-free kits should be banned too ?

Iranians release British sailors
Quote:
Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad says 15 British naval personnel captured in the Gulf are free to leave
He repeated Iran's view that the British sailors and marines "invaded" Iranian waters, but said they were being released as a "gift" to Britain. He said they would be taken to Tehran airport and flown home within hours.
Downing Street welcomed news of the release, while Iranian state media said the British crew members "shouted for joy" on hearing the news. Television pictures showed the Iranian president smiling and chatting with the crew. He joked to one: "How are you? So you came on a mandatory vacation?"
The Britons were wearing suits, rather than the military uniform and tracksuits they wore in previous pictures. The one female crew member, Faye Turney, wore a blue headscarf with dark pink shirt.
An unidentified crew member said: "I'd like to say that myself and my whole team are very grateful for your forgiveness. I'd like to thank yourself and the Iranian people... Thank you very much, sir." Mr Ahmadinejad responded in Farsi: "You are welcome."
Good to see that this endend sensibly :group_hug12

kids kicked outta school do you think it should happen?
reason i'm askin this is cos i really dont think it works, and i dont know how school governers/headteachers have the fuckin stone heart to write a kid off at 15-16 as a bad un... all most end up doin is spirallin downhill, cant get a decent job, get heavy into drug/drink abuse, fightin... the usual.
it's creatin a problem, and didnt the recently make it easier for schools to expell kids? it just aint fair i dont reckon. i got kicked out for 5 months at the end of 3 n a bit years, not for anythin big put i'd pushed it too long, takin the piss. never hurt anyone just me and a few mates were notorious for all sorts of stuff, just havin a laff but pushed it.
durin these 4 months me and my few mates were just gettin high/pissed and doin absoblutely jack shit, if i hadn't finally been re-admitted i'd probably be doin somethin worse now, out of pure boredom probably.
so yeah, what do ya reckon? personally i think writin kids off is wrong, and sendin them to young offenders will both just fuck em up, write a geeza off at this age is harsh imo...
How Good People Turn Evil: The Stanford Prison Experiment Watch: http://play.rbn.com/?url=demnow/demnow/demand/2007/march/video/dnB20070330a.rm&proto=rtsp&start=14:10
Quote:
In 1971, psychology professor Philip Zimbardo created the Stanford Prison Experiment in which 24 college students were randomly assigned the roles of prison guards and prisoners at a makeshift jail on campus. The experiment was scheduled to run for two weeks. By Day Two, the guards were going far beyond just keeping the prisoners behind bars. In scenes eerily similar to Abu Ghraib, prisoners were stripped naked, bags put on their heads and sexually humiliated. The two-week experiment had to be canceled after just six days. Zimbardo tells the full story of the landmark study in his new book, "The Lucifer Effect."

site blocking and proxy servers hello all,
i have recently started helping at a youth centre that has internet access in hampshire. the filtering of sites for the centre is the same one that is applied to schools and libraries, and various vital sites are blocked from use.
myspace = essential networking with young people
erowid.org = essential drugs information
google image = we are a creative media centre, yet cannot access a basic image source
ironically enough, some pron sites, and squatjuice are both unfiltered.
i have asked for explanations from education IT but they are lazy, backward thinking arseholes and refuse to be engaged in a debate about the role of youth work, and how it is different form schools, therefore should be on its own filtering. (basically, both coputers are in full view of everyone else, including staff at all times, so supervision is tight, plus our role is very different to schools in that we encourage young people to let us know if they are doing drugs, fucking each other etc, so we can confront the problem, i could go on...)
i have heard of the use of proxy servers can mean we can get round these difficulties, can anyone explain what these are and where i can find them?
also i know that globalloon has experience with dealing with bloody-minded council workers and wondered if he would share some advice form experience.
thanks
Disarm DSEI From the 11th September til the 14th international arm dealers will descend on London once again funded of course by the tax payer. The plan, to try to stop and disrupt them from even getting there.
Public meeting to share ideas and plan and discuss possible actions, 2-4pm 28th April at the University of London Union, event open to all. Come if you're interested in getting involved or if you just want to find out more.
There maybe police photographers outside, this is only to try and intimidate people and to put them off taking part, covering your face as you go in might be a good idea if there are any pigs with cameras around.

print and send postcard flood to josé manuel barosso:
to have a bit of a idea about radical europe, here a quote of a mailinglistmessage i find pretty understandable:
In fact, it makes sense to see in the Copenhagen riots as a
continuation of the French protests of 2006, and both as instances of
a new phase for radical movements after the decline which followed the
failed attempt at blocking the Angloamerican invasion of Iraq. In
particular, it is tempting to see it as an anticipation of the
generalized rebellion of the European creative class against the
hyprocrisy, arrogance and corruption elites ruling the EU, which have
been delegitimized by the French-Dutch no, but are clinging to power
as if Europe were an asset that belonged to them. The Brussels summit
is supposed to spruce up the environmental credentials of the EU, in
order to make it appealing at least to somebody beyond the privileged
few. Later in March 2007, the Berlin summit (which will issue the
Berlin declaration on the constitutional future of the EU) will
celebrate half-a-century of European treaties, but it will be the
death of European federalism and the transition to some kind of
confederation of nation-states, combining the bellicosity and racism
of the former with transfer of sovereignty of the latter. We'll also
see how thing turn out in Heilingdamm-Rostock in June, and how
movements from East and West of Europe will be able to fight the G8
and the huge transnational police force that will protect its
closed-doors decisions. The insurgence of European youth in
Copenhagen, Paris and elsewhere seems to point toward increasing
political awareness and radicalization among young people working in
information, knowledge, culture industries. Only the creative class
can alter the course of European history away from its present
reactionary path toward social emancipation of a finally mulatto
eurogeneration. We have to act now for radical Europe, by connecting
and solidarizing with major struggles like the Copenhagen and Athens
revolts: let's create a European space for radical youth culture!
