"Dear Mr. President"
(feat. Indigo Girls)
Dear Mr. President
Come take a walk with me
Let's pretend we're just two people and
You're not better than me
I'd like to ask you some questions if we can speak honestly
What do you feel when you see all the homeless on the street
Who do you pray for at night before you go to sleep
What do you feel when you look in the mirror
Are you proud
How do you sleep while the rest of us cry
How do you dream when a mother has no chance to say goodbye
How do you walk with your head held high
Can you even look me in the eye
And tell me why
Dear Mr. President
Were you a lonely boy
Are you a lonely boy
Are you a lonely boy
How can you say
No child is left behind
We're not dumb and we're not blind
They're all sitting in your cells
While you pave the road to hell
What kind of father would take his own daughter's rights away
And what kind of father might hate his own daughter if she were gay
I can only imagine what the first lady has to say
You've come a long way from whiskey and cocaine
How do you sleep while the rest of us cry
How do you dream when a mother has no chance to say goodbye
How do you walk with your head held high
Can you even look me in the eye
Let me tell you bout hard work
Minimum wage with a baby on the way
Let me tell you bout hard work
Rebuilding your house after the bombs took them away
Let me tell you bout hard work
Building a bed out of a cardboard box
Let me tell you bout hard work
Hard work
Hard work
You don't know nothing bout hard work
Hard work
Hard work
Oh
How do you sleep at night
How do you walk with your head held high
Dear Mr. President
You'd never take a walk with me
Would you

The Nuclear Bunker Buster: Robust Nuclear Earth Penetrator This animation depicts a proposed weapon with a one megaton yield. The funding for this weapon was cut in 2005 defense appropriations. However, the United States still has a B61-11 nuclear 'bunker buster' in its arsenal which has a 400 kiloton yield, which could still cause hundreds of thousands of deaths and spread radiation to other countries.

LEBANON: WE NEED YOUR HELP URGENTLY
NATIONAL EMERGENCY DEMONSTRATION
SATURDAY 5 AUGUST: ASSEMBLE 12 NOON
SPEAKERS CORNER, HYDE PARK, LONDON
MARCH PASS US EMBASSY AND DOWNING STREET
TO PARLIAMENT SQUARE FOR RALLY
After the Qana massacre, no one can deny what we are witnessing: the systematic destruction of two countries. Everyone who is horrified at what is happening can help to bring this carnage to an end. We need the biggest possible turnout on Saturday's emergency demonstration. What you do in the next few days can make a difference. Tony Blair is under the most intense pressure on all sides to detach himself from his master George Bush's catastrophic warmongering and call for an immediate unconditional ceasefire. His party wants him to stop. His cabinet wants him to stop. The vast majority of people in the country want him to stop. Our demonstration can intensify that pressure to breaking point.
Stop the War has not experienced anything like it since the run up to the Iraq war in 2003. Over 1000 people every day are contacting the Stop the War office. They want to be on our mailing list. They want to know what they can do to build Saturday's emergency demonstration in London. They want to know where to get leaflets, where coaches are arranged to transport people to London. They want to donate to help fund the demonstration.
WE NEED YOUR HELP NOW: WHAT YOU CAN DO:
1 DONATE: We have had the most fantastic response to our emergency financial appeal, from pensioners sending us a few pounds to peers in the House of Lords. But we still need much more to help fund the demonstration and publicise it as widely as we can. Please donate whatever you can big or small.
GO HERE TO DONATE: http://tinyurl.com/qvzt5
2 LEAFLET EVERYWHERE: Download the demonstration leaflet from our website and distribute it as widely as you can. Encourage everyone you know to join the demonstration and spread the word among their friends, work colleagues, neighbours etc. Leaflet mosques (we're getting a phenomenal response), churches, community centres, libraries, tube and bus stations.
DOWNLOAD LEAFLET: http://www.stopwar.org.uk
If you are in London, get leaflets from the Stop the War office: 020 7278 6694.
3 OUTSIDE LONDON: If you are outside of London, find out about coaches in your area on our website. Get together with friends and book a coach yourselves and get everyone you know to buy a ticket. People who know about the demonstration want to be on it and want to know how to get there. There are dozens of coaches already booked from every corner of Britain. More are being booked every day.
See our website: http://tinyurl.com/fzq2g
4 IN LONDON: If you live in London and have time to help this week, contact the Stop the War office. We have much to do to ensure that the people of London know about the demonstration and to prepare for Saturday. We need help for mailouts, to make placards, to leaflet mosques, churches, community groups etc. We need help to steward the demonstration on Saturday. TELEPHONE 020 7278 6694
5 THURSDAY IS TUBE LEAFLETTING DAY.
We are making Thursday 3 August tube leafletting day. We need every tube station in London leafletted in the morning and evening. Leaflets are available from the Stop the War office. Contact us now if you can help. 020 7278 6694.
Email office@stopwar.org.uk
6 KEEP SIGNING THE TONY BLAIR LETTER
Get everyone you know to sign the letter to Tony Blair, which we will hand in to Downing Street during the demonstration on Saturday. We are being sent thousands of signatures by post and email. Many thousands are signing online.

Noam Chomsky: U.S.-Backed Israeli Policies Pursuing "End of Palestine"; Hezbollah Capture of Israeli Soldiers "Very Irresponsible Act" That Could Lead To "Extreme Disaster"
Israel has intensified its attacks on Lebanon as warplanes launched fresh strikes on Beirut airport, communication networks, Lebanese roads and a power plant. Meanwhile, the US has vetoed a UN Security Council Resolution condemning Israel's attack on the Gaza Strip. MIT professor Noam Chomsky says the US and Israel are punishing Palestinians for electing Hamas, and says Hezbollah's capture of Israeli soldiers subjects Lebanese "to terror and possible extreme disaster" from Israeli strikes. We also get comments from Middle East analyst Mouin Rabbani in Jerusalem.

1) URGENT STOP THE WAR FINANCIAL APPEAL
Stop the War needs urgently to raise £10,000 to cover the cost of our emergency demonstration on Saturday 5 August (details below). It will be the fourth major event on the crisis in Lebanon and Gaza organised by Stop the War within three weeks. The August 5 demonstration is more important than ever, following the latest Israeli atrocity at Qana, in which up to 60 refugees from previous Israeli bombing, at least 21 of them children, were slaughtered when Israel destroyed the house in which they were desperately sheltering.
The Stop the War office is being inundated with messages and calls from all over the country asking for details of the demonstration and for transport arrangements.
Demonstrations cost money. The staging, the leaflets, the posters, the placards, the running of the national STW office, all of it is paid for by donations from Stop the War supporters. We don't have any rich benefactors, unlike Tony Blair, who, on the very day of the Qana massacre, is swanning around at a Rupert Murdoch gathering, probably expressing pride at standing "shoulder to shoulder" with George Bush and Israel.
People everywhere will want to join the demonstration but they have to know about it first. We desperately need the funds to make sure they do and to organise the demonstration. We must make our voices heard. To remain silent would be criminal. Please send us donations large and small. We can make a difference. Blair's own cabinet is split, the Labour Party is in turmoil, the vast majority of British people are outraged.
PLEASE DONATE NOW. THERE ARE THREE WAYS TO DONATE:
* DONATE ONLINE by debit/credit card:

4) ISRAEL'S BARBARISM WITHOUT LIMIT
Israel's atrocities rise daily but they are on the brink of their most horrific onslaught yet. Over 100 nuclear "bunker busting" bombs have been rushed to Israel, via Prestwick airport in Scotland, with the intention, it must be assumed, to flatten southern Lebanon completely. These are nucleur, uranium tipped weapons. A video showing how destructive these nucleur weapons are can be viewed here: http://tinyurl.com/p43yr

How can ‘terrorism’ be condemned while war crimes go without rebuke? How can 'terrorism' be condemned while war crimes go without rebuke?
Washington's partners in this hypocritical war on terror are given free rein to wreak their own brutal, illegal violence

As if we didn't know it already, the conflict in Lebanon shows that truth and war don't mix. All parties to the tragedy of the Middle East resort to disinformation and historical falsification to bolster their case, but rarely has an attempt to rewrite the past occurred so soon after the fact. Israeli ministers and their supporters have justified the bombardment of Lebanon as "a matter of survival". Total war has been declared on Israel, so Israel is entitled to use the methods of total war in self-defence. This would be reasonable if it were true, but it isn't. It's completely false.
The conflict was triggered by a Hizbullah operation in which two Israeli soldiers were captured and three killed. Let's be frank, this wasn't exactly the Tet offensive. It certainly didn't justify Israel's ferocious onslaught against the very fabric of Lebanese society. Yes, the rocket attacks on Haifa are an appalling crime, but they followed rather than preceded Israel's decision to escalate the fighting. They cannot provide retrospective justification for Israeli strategy.
The crisis has also been accompanied by the selective and often inappropriate use of the term "terrorism". Following the Israeli government, George Bush and Tony Blair were at it again on Friday, blaming "terrorists" for sparking the conflict. The purpose behind this is obvious enough. In the context of America's war on terror, anyone claiming to be engaged in the fight against this most contested of notions gets carte blanche to do as they please. But the result has been to politicise the term in ways that render it effectively useless as a category of moral judgment or policy analysis.
It is certainly true that Hizbullah has been linked to a string of classic terrorist attacks going back more than 20 years, including suicide bombings against civilian targets, hostage-taking and the hijacking of a TWA flight. A particularly vile example was the 1994 bombing of a Jewish community centre in Buenos Aires in which 85 people were murdered. Hizbullah strongly denies involvement, but the truth is probably murkier than either side pretends. Responsibility for these attacks has often been attributed to Hizbullah's External Security Organisation (ESO), a unit believed to be under the operational control of Iranian intelligence rather than the Hizbullah's Lebanese leadership. Britain is one country that draws this distinction, proscribing ESO, but not Hizbullah itself, under the Terrorism Act.
Interestingly, some of the earliest suicide bombings commonly attributed to Hizbullah, such as the 1983 attacks on the US embassy and marine barracks in Beirut, were believed by American intelligence sources at the time to have been orchestrated by the Iraqi Dawa party. Hizbullah barely existed in 1983 and Dawa cadres are said to have been instrumental in setting it up at Tehran's behest. Dawa's current leadership includes none other than the new Iraqi prime minister, Nuri al-Maliki, feted last week in London and Washington as the great hope for the future of the Middle East. As the old saying goes, today's terrorist is tomorrow's statesman - at least when it suits us...

Web sites like Amazon.com and MySpace.com may soon be inaccessible for many people using public terminals at American schools and libraries, thanks to the U.S. House of Representatives.
By a 410-15 vote on Thursday, politicians approved a bill that would effectively require that "chat rooms" and "social networking sites" be rendered inaccessible to minors, an age group that includes some of the Internet's most ardent users. Adults can ask for permission to access the sites.
"Social networking sites such as MySpace and chat rooms have allowed sexual predators to sneak into homes and solicit kids," said Rep. Ted Poe, a Texas Republican and co-founder of the Congressional Victim's Rights Caucus. "This bill requires schools and libraries to establish (important) protections."
Even though politicians apparently meant to restrict access to MySpace, the definition of off-limits Web sites is so broad the bill would probably sweep in thousands of commercial Web sites that allow people to post profiles, include personal information and allow "communication among users." Details will be left up to the Federal Communications Commission.
The list could include Slashdot, which permits public profiles; Amazon, which allows author profiles and personal lists; and blogs like RedState.com that show public profiles. In addition, many media companies, such as News.com publisher CNET Networks, permit users to create profiles of favorite games and music.
"While targeted at MySpace, the effects are far more wide-ranging than that, including sites like LinkedIn," said Mark Blafkin, a representative of the Association for Competitive Technology, which counts small- to medium-size technology companies as members. "Nearly any news site now permits these types of behaviors that the bill covers."
House Republicans have enlisted the Deleting Online Predators Act, or DOPA, as part of a poll-driven effort to address topics that they view as important to suburban voters in advance of November's elections. Republican pollster John McLaughlin surveyed 22 suburban districts and presented his research at a retreat earlier this year. DOPA was part of the result...

Why I believe alot of drugs are illegal. And why most drugs become illegal.
(especially in America)
I believe that it is the only things that give western society power over the rest of the world...
Most illicit drugs are produced in third-world countries, like pakistan produces opium, and african countries produce cannabis. Alot of the time these plants are native to these countries and it grows in the wild.
With the demand for drugs in western society, third world countries (assuming these substances became legal) would gain a stable economy, and no, this does not happen at the moment, due to the fact that the drug money goes instead into the pockets of millionairrre drug traffickers (who surgically shove coke in dogs and sick twisted shit like that).
Many third world countries would become first world countries if even marijuana became legal. America is just scared that one day alot of other countries will be just as powerful as they are. England, (if you notice) does the same thing. When a drug becomes very well known, it becomes illegal. At the moment there is a very limited amount of people who know about BZP and the like, but when it starts going into proper circulation it will be made illegal.
Last time i heard, they were reviewing the legal status of Khat (a plant containing a chemical nearly identical to amphetamine) now there is no minor health risk yet, so there is no excuse to shedual it, but there just waiting for someone to get a sore throat from it to deem it illegal. America however has already seen it as threatening since it is native to africa and has made it just as illegal as heroin and cocaine.
They claim that they schedual it because it is dangerous. If that really was the case then they would shedual really dangerous drugs like datura, but wait, no thats native to america, so no need to worry, while over the border in mexico is a much more stable mescaline plant, but thats illegal becuse its mexican.
All this from our western societies who willingly hand out speed to 5 year olds.

Latest "Cop-Out" Over Police Terror Shooting Britain's Crown Prosecution Service says it intends to prosecute the Metropolitan Police under the Health and Safety Act for last year's shooting of Jean Charles de Menezes. But it will not pursue criminal charges against individual officers involved.
On 22 July 2005, Jean Charles de Menezes - an innocent 27 year old Brazilian working as an electrician in London - was shot seven times in the head by police marksmen who had mistakenly identified him as a terror suspect. London police were at the time hunting suspects from four attempted bombings carried out the previous day across the capital.
A major police sweep began immediately because the perpetrators had of course not died in the failed suicide bombings. One clue, a written address found inside an unexploded bag, is said to have pointed to a three-storey block of flats in Scotia Road, Tulse Hill. Home by chance to Mr de Menezes, among many others.
Reacting to the CPS decision, the victim's family have called the move "completely unbelievable", while chairman of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Policing, Lord Toby Harris, branded it a "ridiculous cop-out". London Mayor Ken Livingstone said the decision made "absolutely no sense", and the Met also reacted negatively, saying it created "uncertainty" over its role in protecting the public from terrorists.
The cousin of Mr de Menezes, Patricia da Silva Armani, has said she is "sickened" by the CPS move, adding: "I am very disappointed. This is shameful. By using these laws to cover up their own mistakes, they are treating my cousin like a dead animal."...

They must have known what they were doing ABOUT 20 shells fell in or close to a UN base in south Lebanon before an Israeli aerial bomb penetrated the bunker killing all four foreign observers sheltering there, according to a UN military source.
The source told The Age protests had been made repeatedly to Israel during the course of shelling that preceded the fatal bombing.
The pattern of the fire made it clear that it came from the Israelis, he said, and only Israel possesses weapons heavy enough to penetrate the fortified bunker protecting the four observers.
The only thing in doubt was how or why an Israeli aircraft came to bomb a clearly marked UN position that should have been exempt from attack.
"This position has been there for twenty years. Israel knows these positions and they have had two weeks to zero in on this area and register targets and where you don't want to hit. That's standard behaviour," the UN source said.
"They (the bunkers) are big white things . you can see them for miles and they are lit up at night. Even if the Israelis just arrived cold from the moon two weeks ago, they have been firing there in that area regularly for two weeks. If you keep firing all afternoon into a position like that, then ultimately something will go wrong."...
