THIS is What The ‘Spirit of Religion’ Will Do To People Monks brawl at Jesus' tomb - Israel-Palestinians
VERY sad indeed! And NOT what Christianity is about!
Quote:
JERUSALEM - Israeli police rushed into one of Christianity's holiest churches Sunday and arrested two clergymen after an argument between monks erupted into a brawl next to the site of Jesus' tomb.
The clash between Armenian and Greek Orthodox monks broke out in the Church of the Holy Sepulcher, revered as the site of Jesus' crucifixion, burial and resurrection.
The brawling began during a procession of Armenian clergymen commemorating the 4th-century discovery of the cross believed to have been used to crucify Jesus.
Saving Africa’s Witch Children Did anyone watch this last night? i only caught the very end.
I know that christians will say that these preachers are extremeists who are misinterpreting/misusing the bible...but it still just gives me one more reason to hate religion!

Tough Questions that Christianity Has No Satisfactory Answer To? WHAT'S THE PROBLEM?
Some problems, like the suffering of the innocent, have vexed the minds of the greatest Christian theologians down the centuries. Isn't this an insuperable barrier to belief in a good God? How can you give any Made Easy answers to such block-busting questions?
ADMIT THE SIZE OF THE PROBLEM
There are some difficulties which do not appear to have any satisfactory answers. In humility, we have to admit this. On the next few pages we will examine some of these tough questions.
MAKE USE OF THE LIGHT YOU HAVE
1. STUDY THE BIBLE
Some of the "Tough Questions" will be fully and satisfactorily answered in the Bible.
"Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth." 2 Timothy 2:15 KJV
2. REFLECT ON THE TEACHINGS OF JESUS AND THE PRINCIPLES UNDERLYING HIS TEACHINGS.
When people ask: "What is God like?" Christians reply,, "Look at Jesus. Look at His life, His healings, His teachings, His death and resurrection." When people ask: "What does Christianity teach?" Christians reply, "Check and see what Jesus the supreme Teacher had to say on this topic".
3. RELY ON THE HOLY SPIRIT
"The philosophers of old made reason the sole ruler of man and listened only to her, as the arbiter of conduct. But Christians make reason move aside and give complete submission to the Holy Spirit." John Calvin
Ask for the Holy Spirit's help as you tackle these "Hard Questions".
4. DISCUSS THESE TOUGH QUESTIONS WITH CHRISTIAN FRIENDS
If you belong to a Christian group discuss some of these questions together.
WHAT'S THE CONCLUSION?
Christians have a duty to answer (to the best of their ability) any genuine questions about their faith.
"But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect." 1 Peter 3:15

philosophy… BBC NEWS | Magazine | Four philosophical questions to make your brain hurt
interesting article after all our religious debating...
Philosophy involves standing back and thinking - intensely and rigorously - about aspects of our lives that are at once ordinary and fundamental.
And when the surface is scratched, what you find below is extraordinary - or, rather, extraordinarily difficult to make good, clear sense of. Lying in wait are arguments that lead to, if not sheer lunacy, then bullets we're loathe to bite.
What if you’re wrong? I've been asked this time and time again about how I know to be 99.99% true that a higher spiritual power does not exist.. what if you're wrong?
Now, I'm not an especially articulate person especially when under fire, and I'd usually just state the tired old mantras of Atheists which are logical but just been used once too many times.
Richard Dawkins has given an extremely satisfying answer for this question.
(Amy this is more directed at you since you seem to be our local (as the most expressant on the forum) believer of faith)
As he says:
Anyone can be wrong about what they believe to be true. You happened to be brought up in a country that believes in Christianity, or at least Christianity is the majority.
Now, what if you were brought up in India? You would of course, believe in Hinduism as the truest religion, and you would believe that their version of god existed.
Same if you were brought up in Saudi Arabia, you would believe in Islam.
Same if you were brought up in classical Greece you would believe in Zeus and all their other gods.
Same if you were brought up in Central Africa you would believe in the great Juju up in the mountains.
My point is, by the sheerest chance you were born in a country of a Christian majority, and so there is no reason for believing in a Judeo Christian god just as much as believing the Juju up in the mountains.
So, what if I'm wrong?
Hell, you've got just as good a chance, if not more so, of being wrong yourself.
Peace.
A request PLEASE if anyone wants to ask questions...honest questions.... if you must use hateful, ugly language I will not answer.....my comp. is messed up and I cannot IM - running scans for DAYS, can't find the problem.. PM me and I'll give u my email.
Clarifying Hey all, I would just like to clear something up.....
I am more than happy to DISCUSS my views on religion, answer honest questions etc. ...but if it resorts to ugliness and namecalling, that is NOT what I am into at ALL. You are all in my thought ans prayers and I will try to get to know y'all better in time. :group_hug123
F*ck Religion [YT]bAouFMANYSY[/YT]
tunes alright. try and watch it amy if you agree with at least one of those statements how can you not question what you belive.
Dont know why im bothering to waste my time tbh.
Just thought of a question. Ok so this is me question:
If God is an powerful, all knowing, all everything, omnipotent being...
Why did he take 168 hours to make creation?
Surely he'd just take a second. He obviously had to sit down and think about it, do a little bit up, appreciate his handiwork and get a new idea and so on.
Supporting or against Religion This may not work, and it may go into another row but I'll lay down some rules for this thread to try and avoid this.
This topic is about short and interesting (and hopefully funny) quips/cartoons/videos/comics supporting religion or against it.
There'll be no discussion about anything posted, neither can you put anything after the link to say why you believe this is true because that'd just cause a row and the main subject will be forgotten.
The only thing you can say, is where you got it from.
I know the rules are harsh (and this topic may fail anyway ) but it's the only way I can see to stop people driving off the subject in hand.
Hopefully we can agree and keep to this. raaa

I found this through Richard Dawkins blog which linked onto another website which linked to Religious Cartoons.
Where was God? ...before people believed in god.
I mean did everyone in the entire history of man except Jews and Christians go to hell?
Everyone who was too far away to hear the word of God by default was a sinner and fried for it. Hardly fair.
The Bible is not the word of God it is the work of Man What is probably the oldest known Bible is being digitised, reuniting its scattered parts for the first time since its discovery 160 years ago. It is markedly different from its modern equivalent. What's left out?
The world's oldest surviving Bible is in bits. For 1,500 years, the Codex Sinaiticus lay undisturbed in a Sinai monastery, until it was found - or stolen, as the monks say - in 1844 and split between Egypt, Russia, Germany and Britain.
For those who believe the Bible is the inerrant, unaltered word of God, there will be some very uncomfortable questions to answer. It shows there have been thousands of alterations to today's bible.
The Codex, probably the oldest Bible we have, also has books which are missing from the Authorised Version that most Christians are familiar with today - and it does not have crucial verses relating to the Resurrection.
Firstly, the Codex contains two extra books in the New Testament.
One is the little-known Shepherd of Hermas, written in Rome in the 2nd Century - the other, the Epistle of Barnabas. This goes out of its way to claim that it was the Jews, not the Romans, who killed Jesus, and is full of anti-Semitic kindling ready to be lit. "His blood be upon us," Barnabas has the Jews cry....

If you went to hell.. If you went to Hell wouldn't Satan think you're totally awesome, and want you to be part of his posse?
He'd take you golfing, sniff lines off sexy whores and play pranks on God like mooning him.. maybe pull Jesus' pants down around his ankles and run away giggling like little girls, while he'd turn the other cheek.. so to speak.123
When I Need To Stand Strong in Times of Weakness Lord, help me to put on the whole armor You have provided for me so that I can stand strong against the enemy. Help me to be strong in Your Word and in obedience to Your ways. Help me to be steadfast in faith so that I won't waver in the face of ominous circumstances. Help me to be mighty in praise and worship of You, of who You are and all that You do. Help me to be strong in Your power.
Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. Ephesians 6:11
