Atheist Wins Right to Wear "Religious Pasta Strainer" in ID Photo
Austrian atheist Niko Alm supports the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster, a joke religion conjured up by atheists who say their make-believe stories are no better or worse than any traditional church's. In 2008, to make a point about his faith's sanctity compared to others, Alm asked to wear a pasta strainer on his head for his driver's license photo. Austrian citizens are only allowed to wear headgear in state IDs for religious purposes, so Alm, a Spaghetti Monster "pastafarian," argued that a colander is his "religious headgear."
This week, after avoiding Alm for three years and even making him submit to a psychiatric examination, the Austrian government caved. Alm now has a valid Austrian drivers license, complete with colander.
Score one for the freethinkers. Now who will be the first to try this on in America?
Now that's religion!!12
Good research on belief – just one A4 page Replicable. Interesting summary of the findings. Seems pretty solid;-

Scientology, your thoughts. I have been wathing doc and reading text and watching Vblogs from X members for some time but have never really disscussed it on PV, the international HQ ho CoS is very near to me, we used often see, sea org members when we used to go rock climbing in at east grinsted. Also our camp site at blacklands farm was only about a mile away from saint hill manor (Hubbards house) Our friend who lives there also says that if she sees them around the town or passing in a feild they won't reall say hello or anything. (Normaly residents of east grinstead will say hello as they pass as its quite a tight nit community)
But from most the videos I have seen online where you can see "fair game" in action is soo creepy. People who speak out against the bad things that happen in the CoS are automaticly classed as religous bigots. Well this is according to what you read online. I have no first hand proof of this but all the signs point towards it being the truth. I'm not gonna get into the ins and outs about the CoS cos everyone who uses the net probably already knows, alos I don't want to make this post look like i'm attacking someones religion, as that is not what PV is all about.
Anyways just wanted to know what the PV take on Scientology is.12
Mystical Energy??? So someone tried to tell me of people writing nice things down on paper and nasty things then freezing them and other such things and somehow the nasty writing displayed NEGATIVE ENERGIES!
To me this sounds like some ridiculous science experiment but i wanted to make a poll and hear more views.

Helping people and why you do it I was walking through the town center today, and an old man passed me a card. On it was the basic stuff, trying to convert me to some judo-christian church. It hjad a quote from jesus on it, "For what does it profit a man, who gains the whole world and loses his soul?"
This started me thinking, what of those who help others, and try to show kindness and compassion out of fear for them selves? Is being selfless, for selfish reasons really the right thing to do?
Would a benevolent god be happy with those who acted charitable for no reason other than personal gain, or worship out of fear of their souls?
What about those who show true kindness, caring and charity, but do not worship said god, would they be sent into the depths of a painful afterlife for their heresy, and the selfish and cowardly allowed into paradise?
Now, I'm an athiest, and I try to help as many as I can, because I enjoy helping others, and try to offer any help I can. I don't expect some gift for this, I don't want anything more than a thanks, much less recognition. I hope for no eternel life in some paradise after I pass away, I want no statue, memorial or people to remember my name long after death. I just want people to be happy, and go on to do great things. I'm not saying the religious man is a selfish one, nor am I saying the athiest is a free man, or one who has risen above others. I was just thinking, "What are the reasons behind being a kind person, and are they really the best reasons?"
Just wanted to share my thoughts with someone while I still had them.
I hope you will share your thoughts too.123
Who are your favourite deities? I want to know who the many users of Party Vibe choose as their favourite deity.
Choose one or a pantheon from both fictional and non-fictional, oh, and dont go around trolling by saying your favourite fictional god is the chrsitian god or anything like that. As funny as it is, it's still trolling. Just to clarify, by fictional I mean religions from books, movies and games and such, and non-fiction is ones present in the real world, even the "dead" ones such as Norse, Ancient Greek, and Ancient Roman mythology.
Personally, my favourites are Hel, the half living half dead (literally the right half of her is a corpse and the other half a beautifull woman) from Norse mythology. Mistress of Hel, the great hall where those who were not warriors go when they die, and daughter of Loki the god, and a Frost Giant. her brothers are Fenris the great wolf, and Jormangr the giant Sea Serpent.
My favourite Fictional one is Papa Nurgle, the loving god of decay, death and disease. He bistows all manner of plagues upon his followers, but also grants them immunity from their more deadly effects, and unrivalled toughness and immunity to pain. He loves all his followers like sons, and giggles and bellows in joy at every pox and plague they unleash.
Becuase of his loving relation with his followers, and them with him. They affectionately refer to him as Grandfather Nurgle, The All-father, or even Papa Nurgle.

Nihilism A common, but misleading, description of nihilism is the 'belief in nothing'. Instead, a far more useful one would substitute 'faith' for 'belief' where faith is defined as the "firm belief in something for which there is no proof." A universal definition of nihilism could then well be the rejection of that which requires faith for salvation or actualization and would span to include anything from theology to secular ideology.
Within nihilism faith and similar values are discarded because they've no absolute, objective substance, they are invalid serving only as yet another exploitable lie never producing any strategically beneficial outcome. Faith is an imperative hazard to group and individual because it compels suspension of reason, critical analysis and common sense.
Nietzsche once said that faith means not wanting to know. Faith is 'don't let those pesky facts get in the way of our political plan or our mystically ordained path to heaven'; faith is 'do what I tell you because I said so'. All things that can't be disproved need faith, utopia needs faith, idealism needs faith, spiritual salvation needs faith.
F*ck faith!123
One Week Yes Challenge? So i was trying to think of a mini spiritual journey i could go on and i was thinking of doing a Yes mission where you try and say yes to every idea someone comes up with for a week (within reason).
What do you think about the Yes mission?
if you were god and you were going to send your son, when n where would you send him? so obviously god chose to send his son down here roughly around the year 0 and that was a time when there were quite a lot of romans mincing about and there were some shepherds here and there. but other than the spectacular event of the arrival of the son of god, there wasn't a great deal going on. also the romans didn't take too kindly to this event and jesus had a bit of a rough ride towards the end of his life due to this.
so if you were god, when and where would you send your son so he could have a really good time down on earth?
i was thinking a good setting would be 1969 - woodstock; its all gettin with the peace and love and the hippies think anything's possible then jesus shows up!
or maybe fit him in with the psytrance community of the world! - where jesus can share the gospel and party! - and a perfect surprise for some poor acid head who finds out your long haired mate is the son of god!

Humans as totems? Hi, I've been asked a lot lately what my animal totem is.
I had a rough time figuring it out. I couldn't say with what I knew about animal totems, and so I began to research more. The more I researched, the more I found recurring questions that seem to help one discover their totem.
But I was unable to answer any of those questions regarding mine in particular.
Then I realized: Humans are animals.
When I started thinking in that manner, I began honestly considering the questions in that light. I answered almost ever single question posed with "human."
I'm wondering if this is something that anyone here can shed some light on. I truly do believe that I've found it, but I can't help but wonder if it's even possible.
Thanks in advance,
~Mime
