The Magical Backwaters of Kerala
Kerala, situated in the South of India, is famous for many things among which backwaters are the most famous. Unlike the canals in Thailand and Milan, the Kerala backwaters are less crowded and less polluted. The Arabian Sea caresses the Southern tip of India and hence Kerala backwaters have a complex network of lagoons, lakes and canals meandering through the entire state. Cruising down the backwaters, catching a glimpse of the scenery around is an experience never to be forgotten.
Houseboats are the chief attraction in the backwaters and are much more modified than the old models that were used for carrying goods. The houseboats used for tourists are huge, slow moving, exotic barge suitable for leisure trips. The houseboats are called Kettuvalloms which mean ‘boat with knots’. As the name suggests, the entire boat is held together with coir knots only without using a single nail. Planks of jackwood are joined together with coir. Caustic black resin made from boiled cashew kernels are used to coat the boat. A portion of the houseboat is covered with bamboo and coir that serves as a restroom and kitchen for the crew. These houseboats provide tourists with exotic travel experience. To add comfort to the houseboat they are provided with furnished bedrooms, modern toilets, cozy living rooms, a kitchen and balcony for angling. The curved roof of wood or plaited palm is built to provide shade and allows uninterrupted views. The breathtaking view of the rural and untouched Kerala provides a magical experience and hence the great demand.

Eravikulam National Park in Munnar
Munnar is one of the most famous hill stations in Kerala.
Munnar holidays are famous among nature lovers and offer a lot of interesting things for the tourists.
One of the famous tourist places in Munnar is the Eravikulam National Park. It is located in the Idukki district and lies on the borders of Kerala and Tamilnadu. It was established to preserve the Nilgiri Tahr, which is a rare species of wild goats. The Nilgiri Tahr is only found in the south of the Himalayas. There are also a number of shola forests and grasses in the park.
According to history, this region was owned by Rajamalai and Eravikulam during the British rule. It was then passed on to Kannan Devan Hills for tea plantation. It was later declared as a sanctuary in 1975 and upgraded as a national park in 1978. The famous animals that are spotted here are elephant, Nilgiri Langur, Nilgiri Marten, small clawed otter, tigers, leopards and Nilgiri wood pigeon.
Anamudi is a famous trekking place and has enough facilities arranged for the tourists. Anamudi peak is the pride of the Eravikulam National Park and is situated in its interior. The national park is at a peak of 2695 m. The hill houses a number of endangered animals and various kinds of flora and fauna thus making it a very interesting place for animal lovers. The dense forests in the Anamudi peak make it a natural habitat for many animals. The animals found here are Nilgiri languars, leopards, tigers and macaques.

This is what we hobos call "Riding suicide" ~~~
Riding suicide is called this for the reason that the rail cars you're riding has no floor to lie out on or a safe place to lay your head. This was a coal train I was riding. I rode this coal train only because the railroad bull was on to me and I "HAD" to get out of the area as fast as I could. I only rode this coal train roughly 110 miles south to the first crew change town of Pittsburg, Kansas. Once there I moved to a different train with a nice open boxcar! A "crew change" is when a new, fresh crew is placed onto the train and 99% of the time these crew change towns are in the same location. Engineers and conductors have to abide by nearly the same rules that a truck driver must. They're only allowed a certain amount of hours before a fresh, new crew has to take over the operation of the train.
You certainly want to stay awake on a suicide ride and be sober so you don't fall to your most certain death.
Here's the link to this mad, mad ride:

Riding a freight train in style and comfort! ~~~
This is a video of me riding inside the cab of a "pusher" locomotive from Kansas City, Missouri, to New Orleans, Louisiana.
A "pusher" locomotive is a unit that helps push the train when it's in mountainous territory or if it's very heavy.
These pusher units have no crew on-board and is radio remotely controlled by the lead locomotive on the front of the train. So, you're alone and can sit back and relax and really enjoy your ride! These units have a small refrigerator, bathroom, (like on a Greyhound bus), heater and AC and it's a very comfortable ride when the weather is crappy outside.
You can tell I was taking Oxycontin in this video just by how sluggish my voice is. That's why I hate these pills and love my newly found friend,........poppy seed tea! lol!
Here's the link to this video. I hope you enjoy!
You all have a nice evening. ~~~

Boing jet airplane fuselodges on flatbed rail cars on their way to the Boing plant.
These airline fuselodges are manufactured in Kansas City then sent for further fabrication at the Boing plant in Washington state. Really neat ride if you could ever get up and ride in style inside the plane itself!
So, please enjoy ~~~

Ticket Fraud
Today I was on the train with one of my younger mates, he is 17. We were going a few stops down and he had yet to buy his ticket. A 'conductor' came down asking for tickets, I showed mine and he moved on to my friend, my friend being very skint and wanting a cheaper ticket asked for a child, when challenged by the conductor it was obvious he was over 15. This was when the conductor decided to tell us that he was a revenue inspector (not exactly sure if thats what he said). My friend opened his wallet to get money to pay out and the inspector spotted a child ticket my friend had used earlier that day, the inspector then proceeded to tell him that this was fraudulently using a train ticket and he would be receiving a letter shortly (having just given the inspector his details) telling him what was going to happen.
I was wondering what he would get for this? A penalty fare notice? The fact that he said it was fraudulent use of a train ticket made me think that maybe he could be receiving a worse punishment. My friend is rather worried so I said i'd try and find out more.
Cheers.
