Boo
Maybe its because times have changed, and equally I may be posting in the wrong sub-cat
but when i used to work nights around 5 yr ago and discovered PV, onwards til 2yr ago
I used to chat to loads of night workers (working equally as hard as I was :laugh_at:) or people in Malaysia/ Burma or far away (one chap who'd lived 3 roads away from me in the 90's!!!, usually UK ravers who'd settled elsewhere,
but it may be because I am a 9-5er now - so I dont see it ( the board at night) as often but when I am on here late / at night the traffic seems to have slowed down appart from the usual spammers!! (annual leave tomorrow )
what are others experience - is this how its been for the last 2 yrs?

DK : Historic and maritime information site..
I found this whilst researching some maritime stuff. It is all in Danish, though not as hard to follow as you may think as most maritime terms are common across English, Dutch, German and Danish. it is the same North Sea after all, we are just navigating from different bits

Cuisine of Kerala
The symphony of incredible aromas and flavours fill the air; the gastronomic options are ceaseless; and food fanatics rejoice in exquisite culinary delights of Kerala. The enticing cuisine of Kerala is influenced by the historical, cultural, religious, geological factors which set it apart from other regions of India and is one of crucial attractions in Kerala tourism.
Sadhya literally meaning the feast is an integral part of Kerala’s culinary arts and served specially during festivities and special occasions. This complete vegan feast is served on plantain leaf with boiled rice and more than 14 side-dishes, savouries, pickles. Three to four course of rice is served with each side dish at a time. The main course is complemented with the traditional dessert, Payasam.
While on culinary tour to Kerala, you can experience that Kerala cuisine inculcates the essence of foreign culinary culture combined with indigenous flavours which is the result of cultural influence of colonial rule of Greek, Portuguese, Arabs, Chinese and English during medieval period.
Kerala being the terrain of never-ending array of coconut palms utilizes coconut as the core ingredient to concoct delectable dishes that are sure to tantalize one’s taste buds. The lush fields of paddy cultivated in abundance at Kerala’s scenic countryside make rice the staple diet of Keralites. Considered to be the land of spices, there is liberal use of exotic spices in Kerala’s culinary preparations. A couple of herbs used in the cuisine are curry leaves, bay leaves, coriander leaves and mint. Alongwith rice, Tapioca forms the basic diet of Keralites and is exotically prepared with or without spices and herbs and accompanied by mouth watering fish curry.

Stag tour research
Hello,I am a po
st-graduate student at London Metropolitan university. I am looking into the ways the stag party has developed in recent years and in particular looking at the the increase in stag tourism and the association between this and paying for sexual services. I am therefore seeking to interview men who have paid for sexual services when on a stag tour abroad. Participants will remain anonymous and no one will be able to identify you in the research. Interviews will take place by telephone at a time that is convenient for you. The interview will last about 20 – 30 minutes. If you would like to be involved, or would like further information on the research and the interview process before deciding, please contact Sarah on dissertationresearch2012@gmail.com. Alternatively please call 07879 294 879 on Thursdays or Fridays between the hours of 1pm and 5.30pm to take part. More info can be found here: Stag Tour Research.
Many thanks for your time.

Saving more cash with simple savings recommendations
Saving more cash is one of those things that take just a couple extra minutes each day, if done cautiously. These few ideas will help you save much more cash. Resource for this article: 4 easy ways to increase how much you save
1 - Save before everything else with direct deposit
Rather than having a direct deposit into your bank account, direct deposit into your savings account. Then, every month, transfer the cash you have budgeted into your checking account. When you go over budget, it is a lot more work to transfer the cash into your checking account, which might change your mind.
Good money management starts with fulfilling your financial obligations, including paying off outstanding bills.
2 - Set up regular contributions
Budget your cash as if it has never entered your account by setting up automatic contributions to your retirement or savings accounts. It will come out of your accounts electronically with regular contributions.
3 - Use money
Use money instead of a card. Debit and credit cards are there specifically to give you disconnect with money. With cash with your hands, you will see exactly how the cash is leaving you. You will be able to make real-time decisions. Only pull out enough spending cash for the budget that month at the ATM or financial institution.
4 - Adding up with a change jar
It could feel like an old-fashioned way to save, but a change jar can truly add up. Every night or morning, clean your pockets of all change and put it in a jar or container of some kind. Most banks have change counters that will deposit your cash directly into your savings or checking account without applying for any fees. If your bank does not have a change counter, then you can use a CoinStar or comparable machine to count your change for a fee.

DE : Achtung Torpedo!
(received on HF from Hamburg Coastguard)
311700 UTC JAN 12
NAUTISCHE WARNNACHRICHTR. 108
WESTLICHE OSTSEE. NEUSTAEDTER BUCHT.
TORPEDO GEORTET AUF 54-01,966N 010-49,941E.
GEFAHR FUER DIE FISCHEREI.
311700 UTC JAN 12
NAVIGATIONAL WARNING NO. 108
WESTERN BALTIC. BIGHT OF NEUSTADT.
TORPEDO HAS BEEN LOCATED IN POSITION 54-01,966N 010-49,941E.
DANGER FOR FISHERY.
this map is slightly off, (zoom out to see where it is) I probably screwed up on the conversion of the latitude/longditude to something Google understands. The first try located it in Warsaw! The torpedo is not in a hotel in Germany but in the sea to the right of it, where it certainly will be a problem to the small fishing boats. Unexploded ordnance does not care what country you are from, nor know that the war is over! (and it must be hard enough navigating there as it is without a torpedo floating around..)

MY : A population survey of the Malayan bandicoot rat in Penang
I was looking for something completely different but came across this, from the local uni. I'd thought this creature had long gone extinct due to habitat destruction but it seems to be still quite prolific raaa (although wrong species, badgers in SE Asia are smaller and closer in size to ferrets)
This creature isn't a proper bandicoot either but a rat (they are similar and easily misidentified as you get big rats out there and small bandicoots)
Also they didn't ill treat or mishandle the rats they caught in any way but let them all go once they had counted them...

roof spaces across the world
this might seem like a really strange thread even by my standards, but my tech blog is intended for anyone in the world.
I am going to explain why I needed to get a 1970s era radio antenna working for listening to the community radio station, then realised not everyone in the world has a roof space like in England (which is often unconverted and contains all manner of random pipes/cables)
Many countries only have single level houses, or flat roofs (which often pets live on or people sit on in good weather), others in multiple level buildings do not need to have individual radio/TV antennas as the building owners provide a distributed one - or their roof spaces are nicely converted into living / storage / hobby areas. so what is up in your roof?

Europe interrail suggestions
So I decided I'm bored of this country and got an interrail ticket and flying out to Amsterdam tomorrow.. Just doing the main touristy thing really to tick off some boxes and see where's worth visiting again in the future and meeting my sister along the way so not so much partying. ATM the plan is roughly Amsterdam -> Poland -> Budapest -> Prague -> Croatia although I might do some detours or change of plans. Anyone got any advice, suggestions of places worth visiting or things to do?

National Express Coaches
I have a bit of a mission on my hands soon. I gotta go from my home town (near Watford) and am going to see this bird in bloody Worksop, Nottinghamshire!
Cheapest train fare I found was 70 quid but with about 5 change overs, journey takes 3 odd hours. the coach is one change (right around the corner so is easier) but takes 5 hours, this costs 42 quid. I figure the coach wins but a 5 hour journey? all I can say is I better be getting some when I get there!
Anyone used these coaches before?

Ibiza: Worth the Time and Money?
Any thoughts on this?
Is Ibiza just too commercial and too filled with shallow rich sunglass wearing drunks? OR is it still the party island it used to be where nearly everyone is high and very much into the dj and music.....
