Hard earned respect from your peers is a rare commodity but Huxley, aka Michael Dodman, has it in spades. Since his late teens he’s been producing, seeing initial underground success as a garage producer before his sound partly mutated towards a deeper, house-based sound in the past few years. Collaborations with old mate Ethyl for the then hot-as-hell Cecille imprint in 2009 showed a producer receiving massive support for what instantly seemed like a fully developed sound.
Since then, Huxley has delivered releases for an enviable roster of labels (Tsuba, Morris Audio, Fear of Flying, Hypercolour and 20:20 Vision for starters) and has stayed true to his robust, bass-led strain of house music that reflects his formative interests in UK and US Garage, with critics, punters and peers lapping up each release and remix. Whether veering towards deeper vibes alongside Ethyl on his own Saints & Sonnets imprint, turning in cast iron grooves for Tsuba or full vocal barnstormers like his lauded ‘Let It Go’ single for Hypercolour early 2012, there’s a clearly defined but pliable and versatile sound to Huxley productions that marks him out as a truly talented producer.
As a remixer, the Tring (Herfordshire, UK) man is hugely in demand, turning his hand to major label talents with as much flair and skills as he does underground cornerstones like Like Burridge or Maya Jane Coles. Completing the picture is his Djing – another perfect string to his bow that sees him tour his open minded and deftly programmed music selections in clubs and festivals across the world on a weekly basis.

Focus Presents: Huxley(Tsuba, 20:20 vision, Saints & Sonnets, Hypercolour, Leftroom) US plans drone-based recovery
WASHINGTON – Facing a potentially huge market for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs or drones), the US Federal Aviation Administration is preparing guidelines expected to spawn an entire industry, with applications from selling real estate to dusting crops, baby-sitting oil rigs and uncovering marijuana plantations.
The FAA is negotiating a political and technical minefield to figure out how to regulate this booming and controversial technology, with a resolution expected as early as this year.
"Aerial robotics will be a significant market, assuming the FAA doesn't put huge restrictions on it," said analyst Michael Blades, who covers the commercial drone market for global consultants Frost & Sullivan.
"And the first time one of these unmanned vehicles accidentally takes down a jet plane, the FAA will be torn apart. So the rule-making process going on right now is tricky, because in a way the sky is a political battleground."

How was your party last night [username]? I went to a pretty good party last night at my local venue.
We where expecting 'stay sick' (a monthly psychobilly/ punk party) but that turned out to be next weeks.
Anyway it was pretty sick. They had two drum kits with these lads bashing out to some hip hop tunes with another lad on decks. Real nice 80s detroit hip hop.
At the back of the stage they projecting some really fucked up 70s B horror movies, all weird cults wearing uniforms and getting stuff chopped off - it was odd but kind of worked. A dj came on after they finished and played his own rendititions of classic funk and dusco tunes, even cranked out some talking heads :D
I had to leave at half one sadly and when I went to get my coat the dj came down stage to give me a kiss goodbye hahaha. He must of liked my dancing (fuck knows how because its laughable)
Btw I hadnt spent any money at this point save my bus fair there, which was a touch.
I grabbed my coat and left to find the nearest cash point and some guys whistled me which was very unsettling, and an older bloke came to tell me I shouldnt be walking around town at this point and he was worried. I said yeah I understand but Im literally just getting a cab home. He insisted that he walk me to the taxi rank and saw me home. Obviously I was suspicious but the walk to the taxi rank was just accross the main road and the streets where busy. We git in a taxi and he got out before me giving me a tenner and said goodbye. What a sound bloke !
So on the downside the night ended sooner than I hoped, on the good side I spend no money, listened to some great beats and awoke hangover/ comedown free !
UK : East : Violent incident at pub night gets event judged as "illegal rave". This is a very unfortunate incident, not least that its nearly on my doorstep, and Little Pete (the lad in whose memory this pub night was being held) is someone I'd consider as a friend but sadly I never really got to know him that well as he lost his life at a very young age, and had stopped hanging around with a lot of the younger crowd because their events ended up in incidents like this.
Added to these issues, Police profiling these days and the 20 year age difference between myself and many of my younger friends will easily get me suspected once again of being a middle level dealer (it happened when I live in another area of England), and as much as I disagree with the profiling I can understand why it is done in the wake of various incidents in 2006.
What is worse is that the Earl Kitchener was not a disused pub (the only time I've been to an "illegal rave" in a pub in SE England would be because my mates hd squatted it), it is a perfectly normal licensed pub that gets a positive mention on Suffolk CAMRA for actually selling real ale and its landlords would not have knowingly contravened licensing regulations.
Indeed the clientele were relatively well behaved in there and the venue "kept itself to itself" to the point I didn't know it existed until now!
Fighting in licensed premises is illegal anyway, as the lad up before Court has found out the hard way, and that it happened might hint at poor event management skills, but its worrying that the event would be judged as an "illegal rave"....
