Metamorphosis – Soirée le 05/04/2014 I can't post this in the "celebrities" thread as Ron always wanted privacy during his life (as he had to do a lot of stuff like work on govt surveillance and communications systems for nuclear installations as well as RAF (he had a full pilots license!) what wasn't quite in line with his principles simply to earn a living and feed his family, and divulging his identity would also have jepoardised his work and family.
last year my friend Ron Sewell who taught me a lot about the basic principles of telecoms took ill and suddenly got admitted to Addenbrookes (not the first time either), and at the end of January passed away recently from kidney cancer (he had been mentioning that he was unwell and had been exposed throughout life to strong radiation (both ionising and non ionising), asbest, and also smoked for much of his life.
Ron however was also best mates with Syd Barrett and they would build sound equipment together, until Syd did way too many drugs and got mentally ill. At that point he joined the British Post Office as an engineer, then later worked for Neve/Soundcraft ( (making studio mixers) but in the end had to go freelance working on various radio communications project for the MOD and other organisations. He also sent me loads of info about the 60s and 70s, and that generation in East Anglia partied as hard as the youths did! He was also responsible for a lot of middle aged/older people tuning in to PVR reggae stream as it reminded them of their national service and being posted abroad and allowed to mingle with "coloured people". also reggae is good to test the limits of a hi fi system.
He also told me loads of stuff about his family (who originate from DE and NL) and how they were totally split up during WW II and one of his relatives has serious mental issues as her Dad was a very prominent Nazi, and although he was in RAF reserves and his son is still serving (hence the need for secrecy), explained how fucked up WW II really was as it was two very similar nations and people killing each other, and more so was the Cold War (as it diverted so much of the best brains and resouces of this country from genuine public service to military surveillance) and warned me that "Europe risks repeating history if we are not careful".

From the official news release:
The Ivanpah Solar Electric Generating System is now operational and delivering solar electricity to California customers. At full capacity, the facility's trio of 450-foot high towers produces a gross total of 392 megawatts (MW) of solar power, enough electricity to provide 140,000 California homes with clean energy and avoid 400,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide per year, equal to removing 72,000 vehicles off the road.
Sprawling across a staggering 5 square miles of federal land near the California-Nevada border, it looks goddamn beautiful.

Golf Clap is Detroit's latest deep house export and is already making quite a stir in the few months they've been releasing music. After playing over 100 shows together last year, Bryan Jones & Hugh Cleal started releasing music as Golf Clap in early 2013. House legends like Kerri Chandler, Grant Nelson, and Miguel Migs have all taken notice, signing singles and EPs for release this summer.
Their debut single "Another Way" on Freeze Dried smashed the Traxsource charts hitting #1 in the singles, tracks & deep house charts simultaneously and their follow up single "On To You" on i Records climbed into the top 10 on the site for two weeks.

Next month we're doing something super special in London town with the launch of the mighty Askarabaskara Crew’s new own night “LOW FREQUENCIES”.
Askarabakara resident ALEX CENNI DJ from Italy will be in charge with an intamate deep, dark house & techno set to get you through the night.
Also on duty are DJ DRISAN who will be warming up the crowd with some deep and dubby Tech-House eclectica as well as our very own WYLHELM who will be closing the night for a proper vinyl session of the finest pumping progressive tech & dark techno to make you dance until sunrise!
They will be undertaking a mammoth 7 hours session, taking you deep, dirty, dark and utterly twisted at Nomad Club London’s Main room in Old Street, Hoxton. It's going to be a proper, intimate throwdown, full of the real Askarabaskara Vibe and much much more……as usual! ;)
Don't get left out in the cold people - this will be wayyyy more than the average night out, and hopefully will be the first of many in this vein.
It's International Woman's Day too btw ;)

Rose and violet lights fall on three musicians decked out sleekly in skinny ties, pressed slacks, and starched white shirts. The mass of bodies gathered before them pulsates with a unified enthusiasm. Sweet soulful vocals rise from the man in the middle, an effect rendered all the more captivating by the fact that he is concurrently beating out an unrelenting backbeat on the drums. Flanking him on either side are a bassist who jumps up and down to the rhythm as he generates the throbbing low-end, and a keyboardist whose cool composure belies the fire in his fingers. This is Tortured Soul.
