more than 25 000 people are at a Teknival forbidden by the authorities of Bouafles (Eure), which started Friday 01 May and planned to go on until Sunday.
The local Council have announced that a 26 year old French man was found unconcious in his car on Saturday and died of a cardiac arrest despite the intervention of the Ambulance Service. An autopsy of the casualty will take place.

Many British, as well as Germans, Italians, Spanish, Dutch and Belgians are participating in this rave. Tents and vans of sound stacks have been set up. But the (environmental) conditions started to deteriorate by Saturday afternoon in the absence of toilets and rubbish collection. Médicins du monde and the Red Cross are on the site, but according to one of their staff in insufficient numbers. The Fire Brigade are patrolling the exterior of the rave.
150 gendarmes are on the approach roads, as well as teams of Customs officers and sniffer dog units. The emergency medical services have treated 22 people and 8 people have had to be evacuated. Around 20 people have been questioed and searched, and 6 arrested for posession of drugs or driving under the influence.

FR: News Report on a LEGAL Teknival Interesting - although I don't think its the big teknival as the location and space seems to small nor is there any mention of foreign sound systems.
It appears that the Council have requisitioned land from local farmers and indemnified them against losses (!) - no mention is made of whether the organisers or attendees were expected to pay for this!
what is more ominous are the security arrangements - 100 gendarmes, a helicopter, drugs dogs, and tests on all vehicles entering and exiting the site.

Les fleurs jaunes de pissenlits donnaient hier au terrain de la rave un air bucolique. Mais les heures de survie des fleurs sont comptées. Car dès ce soir, les cinq mille teufeurs attendus au festival de musiques électroniques baptisé Electromania (un nom choisi politiquement correct pour ne pas dire rave et effrayer les maires, explique l'association organisatrice) vont piétiner les huit hectares de jachère réquisitionnés par la préfecture du Cher.
Terres agricoles réquisitionnées. « L'association organisatrice n'ayant pas eu l'accord des propriétaires des terrains qu'elle avait repérés, des terrains ont été réquisitionnés par l'Etat », a confirmé hier la préfecture. Une parcelle de jachère où se tiendra la rave (environ 8 hectares) et qui est située au lieu-dit la Marlette cordelée et des terrains limitrophes, eux aussi en jachères, ont été réquisitionnés « pour qu'il n'y ait pas d'ambiguïtés sur les responsabilités », indique la préfecture. « La jachère, c'est le moins pénalisant pour les agriculteurs. Il n'y aura pas de culture rasée donc on ne produit pas un traumatisme supplémentaire », a confié le directeur de cabinet de la préfète Olivier Geffroy.

Cars for FrenchTek at New Years Eve? are there any bods who r rollin down to any of the french new years parties, all my mates made the journey last year, unfortunately i was ill so couldnt make it, but i'm up for going this year. basically i'm looking for one or possibly 2 seats in a car there and back if possible, thanx for any feedback,

FrenchTek 2008 Pictures What an amazing wknd i have just had. Unfortunately words and these pictures do not do it justice but here goes...
This was the teknival in the north, the legal one. There were very few police, a few at the entrance conducting a few searches and some at the exit, breathalising etc. On the whole i felt it was a lovely vibe throughout. Everyone i met was very friendly and very patient with my lack of french lol!! The weather was beautiful, got burnt to a fucking crisp!! The link ups were sick.
