BLOOPTFUNK is an outdoor electronic music event to raise funds for the oxford children’s hospital campaign, organised by myself (GRAHAM FLETCHER, http://www.myspace.com/grahamfletcher)
we have had an overwhelming response from some absolutley top notch artists and DJ’s to give their time to the playing for the cause. music policy, dub, downtempo, electro, dubstep, broken beat, detroity tech,turntablism/old school hiphop, deep house, dub disco
Last year my two year old son had an operation at the john radcliffe in oxford to remove a lump from his neck so this is my way to show gratitude and publicise there work and publicise quality deep electronic music in one go.

mate if I still lived in Reading I’d be there like a shot
good to see Mat Carter’s still playing, I remember the old Slump events in Reading from 1995 or so, excellent way to spend a sunday afternoon back then 🙂
Still got the videotapes I made of those events back in Reading but don’t have any working Hi8 kit or I would try and properly transfer and edit them…
i’ll be there, good tunes for a good cause and right on my doorstep
yeah sounds good, HOW IN SWEET JESUSS NAME DID THEY GET THE POLICE TO ORGANISE THIS
TVP and West Berks council aren’t that bad about daytime outdoor events (12-8pm) as there has been a long-standing tradition (going back to the Middle Ages!) of fairs and fetes behind held around those hours
when I was with OOOPS! they managed a couple of similar events, one even was linked to a protest against the CJA and this was at the height of a Tory Government!
Plus this event is raising money for a kids’ hospital and its put on by the father of the kid involved so its a lot more difficult in PR terms for cops to object to.
I think its an excellent idea myself – hope it all goes well raaa
ooooo yeah true , i can understand the whole fundraising and i cant wait to go, buuutttt, why dont ppl have more organsised events in the day time then
I think a lot of ravers prefer the night time events – plus they’ve still got to go through licensing approval and that often takes months to sort out…
Hum only down the road from me… Could be a fun way to spend an afternoon, also would give me an excuse to say hello to some people in Newbury! :bounce_fl
suprised they didnt get the local electro lads to play 🙁 shame …
wishful thinking DA 😉 :groucho:
😉 haha … no.
the local promotors always seemed to be in bar cuba for the electro nights i would of thought theyd wish to ‘promote’ the local djs
did you ever attend the 36th chamber nights at the tap n spile, GL?
im hoping to play submerged thinking about it, the only local psy night … dont no if theyll be a crowd though :hopeless:

nah, only times i was in West Berks for parties were Ridgeway parties TBH
moved out of Thatcham in 1983 and stayed in Reading until 1990, then back to London for a bit then Reading from 1992-2006…
i got invited to one of those i at the start of april, but my brother was down and he said he was going, so i never went in the end. i met this guy in cuba called DJ kendo, he said he was outta 36th chamber, he invited me to a d and b eve in venom, tempted to go, but i know itll be like a wasps nest of chavs tho.
ill be happy to take up some crowd space.
the lads and organiser that play 36th are twats man, my mate benny got invited to play which was a big thing for him, he was practising for several hours each day for weeks before, when he arrived they gave him a 20 minute set (hour and ten minutes shorter than what it was supposed to be) and all left to go get pizza, there was no-one left, with his motivation crushed he just left the now empty pub …
(tell a lie me and our friends all watched him and he was great, i love benny)
thanks man 🙂
@GL, did you drink in newbury when living here, if so, which pubs or clubs? if you dont mind me asking, although you lived in thatcham there isnt much there in the way of night life, newburys not much better but i assume you see what im getting at?
