From personal experience I think whilst there is a real danger of emotional/mental problems, provided users do eventually self regulate the effects on memory/learning are reversible.
Last year I built a couple of Linux / Unix servers – this was the first time I had used this OS in depth since my somewhat chequered Uni days (I dropped out after 1.5 years after discovering high quality MDMA pills and parties).
Despite the hammering I gave my brain from 1990-1992, I could still remember all the methods of using this operating system and even bits of my C programming teaching (enough to deploy a sophisticated digital phone system and customise it for UK telephone signalling protocols) with just a little prompting from the Internet.
I can’t have “bramaged my dain” all that much then 😉
