Ayo wanna hold hands? to show we are here and we care!

Vi holder sammen – VG Nett

for those of us in UK the list is sorted by the Norweigian name for our country. So as UK is called Storrbritannia in NO, we are between Sri Lanka and Sudan. (it took me some time to find this).

Well another complete loon who believed that what he did would instigate a revolution… damn i still can’t see where a revolution could be made by slaughtering 80 kids who are meant to be the future of any nation. It started as some sort of political statement (blew up govt building) and then finishes on some completely sadistic and mindless massacre ( the kids had no chance, had he been left any longuer and the maniac would have killed everyone). Some may see this as excessive, but to me this is another clear case that the death penalty should still be applied in certain cases: an eye for an eye… nothing more nothing less.

Death-penalty? No way, you cant fight murder with another murder. It is just completely wrong.

The total number of killed is now confirmed after recount and ends at 77 in total, 8 in the bomb blast and 69(!) at the youth-camp….

May them all Rest In Peace.

I see what you are trying to tell me, except how i see it is that this person has snuffed out 77 ppl lives. How do you think it is fair that this guy who has no respect for life (by killing) should stay alive. I am sure that those who died may have contributed more that what this guy has done (which in the end all he ended doing is destroy potential futures). From my perspective death penalty should only become a deterant. Most ppl when confronted with death suddenly come up whith any excuse to avoid it, which is normal. It is called survival. Except in cases like this the maniac gave no choice to these young ppl. So why give this guy the choice of living. Death penalty is an ultimate penalty to be given out in rare cases. What i prone is : an eye for an eye. It’s like stealing. They stole from you let’s say your favourite item. Now you would be pissed off, right? Now if you did the same thing to those who stole from you, then they would react in exactly the same way.
For me it is all about respecting each other. The moment you step over you must show that there is a limit. Otherwise there would not be much left of what we call humanity and our society is heading straight towards this. Some ppl will abuse you whether it is politicians, billionaire CEO’s or criminals but we should be able to respond, not turn the other cheek as if nothing happened.

Yes we should turn our other cheek. We should be bigger than demand death and destruction. Or we are no better than those who do the killings in the first place. Prison sentence is enough to keep those people out of harms way.

To be honest with you I whole heartedly agree with you, except this has brought a form of slackness in our justice. You want to turn the other cheek in order to make the other understand why your doing so, except in this day and age you’ll have ppl who will hit you harder if you do turn the other cheek.
And this is what i mean : whether it is a criminal or a politician, thieving CEO, etc., they all have the same mind frame : that they think they can all get away with it!! And they do!!! For example : follow the murdoch case and in the end it will all finish in a big whitewash, criminals in the UK who have a life sentence are out in 15 years!!!! Where is justice in all this, where is the fairness??? If a rule cannot apply to everyone, then we’re bound to be f***ed.

At this moment in time, in this society, we are not ready to fully understand the actual importance of life on this planet. Too many ppl dismiss it as some god given gift to flout, when we should cherish every second of it!! (I know some ppl do have respect, but, for xample in free parties so many ppl can’t be bothered to use a bin to throw their shit away. Its straight to the ground. And that seriously pisses me off!!) To me the simple fact that we are still incapable of protecting this planet and fully understand that we need to protect it in order to survive will be our downfall.

What i am trying to say is that in certain cases we have to find a way by making ppl understand that this is not acceptable. In between killing someone in a crime of passion and this sensless murdering spree there is a big difference. In the first you just went over the top due to blinding anger, the other was a completely flawed but well organised crime. I am simplyfying things, but effectively every case is and has it’s unique twist which has to be fully appreciated to understand.

did you hear what the singer morrissey said about this? That what happened in norway is nothing compared to what mcdonalds and kfc do to animals everyday

Not sure what Norway laws are but in the UK it is harder to get early release for being sectioned to hospital for a crime like this than to be released from conventional prison.

That said I am not sure that by English standards he would be considered insane. What is insane and sane is relative.

A man who crawls about on all fours and meows to cats might not be considered sane, clinical lycanthropy is a diagnsosable mental illness in this country but harms no one, not even the cats, who see it as a gesture of friendship, whereas even a sane person who decides to make bombs or shoot at people is commiting an act of war. However someone doing this as a serving soldier might well be viewed as a military hero rather than a psychopath (right up to and including suicide bombings which many European militaries did in the 19th/20th century).

What I find more worrying is that the links with the UK are not being discussed more openly, nor does it seem that SOCA / MI5 are taking that much interest (though of course they may be and its being done secretly). I would struggle to deal wirh a few words of Danish or Norweigian, yet this man could write 1500 pages in English.

Also I’ve heard reports that he was taking some form of drugs as well (amfetamines and steroids?) but not seen anything in detail due to language barriers. This will be used by the prohibitionists as a anti-drug argument :hopeless:

You microwave a Hamster in the UK and you can expect time, you beat the crap out of someone one a Sat night and its a slap on the wrist (sometimes). Seems out of proportion to me. Sure my post is related somehow…

it is not however a crime to cook a dead hamster (though there is not a great deal of meat on it and I doubt it tastes much good). I’m sure someone somewhere eats them, certainly guinea pigs were originally intended as food animals wherever they come from. Frozen (and obviously alread dead) mice/rats are sold to feed to snakes, but it is against the law to give a snake a live one (especially as the snake doesn’t always win and can get hurt or even killed!). Someone did this and was nicked – they didn’t get sent down but got fined a fair bit. The mouse was “arrested” and seized by the RSPCA and handed over to the Police, but as it was not a dangerous creature ended up being kept as a pet by a WPC who had a number of other animals.

Also many other crimes against pet/companion animals are often overlooked, and more so in the commercial food industry.

I agree that the sentencing for violent crimes is flawed and there is too much tolerance of fighting amongst young males in particular. I think any violent crime, even minor ones should at very least result in the “weekend prison” that the last Government were planning where the idea was the offender did not lose their job if they had one (and many do) but they lose the weekend and still have to work, which I think would be much more of a punishment TBH!

This means they now can put him away for life, a prison sentence would have given him max 21 years…..it also means that if they find him sane again they can let him out after 3 years, but that not very likely looking of his monstrous act of insanity…. So in short, they lock him up and throw away the key….
