acid is very very hard to explain, because what you will experience is not like anything you have ever experienced before.
most other drugs either enhance, suppress or distort emotions or perceptions that occur naturally. Acid doesn’t. It just makes stuff up
Your brain will go through states that are almost identical to those of somebody suffering with schitzophenia. Indeed, you may well find that taking LSD leaves you permenantly mentally ill.
When i was a teenager I experimented with LSD. Of a group of about 10 close friends, one never came back after his first trip. 15 years later he still takes very heavy medication, and this allows him to beat the section (incarcerated treatment), but his life ain’t great. Another friend simply did too much too often, and had to be cared for for around 5 years until he was able to cope with looking after himself again ( a spliff can still trigger odd episodes).
You need to be aware that you are quite literally putting your mind into the hands of an unknown quantity. You should ask yourself… does anyone in your family show any signs of mental health problems such as depression, or more serious ill-health? Have you at some stage? If so, avoid LSD.
However, it can, and will change you life and your view of the world. it can be a delight beyond delight.
If you are still determined to try it, take it with a couple of friends you are sure you can trust (really trust, not met on the dancefloor a few times) who have taken it before and who will guide you through the experience.
make sure you have somewhere ‘safe’ to go if it all gets too much (ie. somewhere quiet with a friend where no straight people are going to question you about your state). Try and be near somewhere with open space… the night sky is always a good thing to wonder about, while towns and built up areas tend to be a bit of a downer
try taking a quarter to start with. The effects won’t hit you for well over an hour, with the peak coming several hours after ingestion. Don’t be fooled into thinking nothing is happening and taking more. Just be patient. Once you are sure you’re enjoying it, take another quarter.
I’m sure some people will deride me and say ‘lightweight’, but there’s not much uglier than an acid casualty.
Also, when things are confusing you and you don’t know what to believe, try repeating the mantra “it’s just the acid” and enjoy the sensations. if it doesn’t usually happen like this, it probably is “just” the acid.
