well…
When I drink, im crazy… I always go over the top when im out for a night. It makes my decision making process go out the window but more worryingly I can react aggresively to things which can be laughed at.
So I don’t drink much ever now!
However a good old blow out for a rave, bit of meow, bit of a smoke, maybe a e or two…
nothing wrong with that now and again
getting pissed up though!! fucking dangerous and could cost me so much in life i never want to loose!
I think its strange that alcohol is probably the only thing that I can potentialy completely loose control on and its legal, i think the only other thing that puts you that out of it is K but your stuck in your arm chair at that point so you cant really do yourself or anyone else any harm. :laugh_at:
That being said its good fun aslong as your sensible, i think a lot of people who do/ have experienced other drugs have a more sensible outlook on the stuff though, most people in this country seem to think getting rat assed 3 or 4 times a week isnt a problem.
To answer your question, it’s sort of an ongoing process. God works things out throughout our lifetime, it’s not just bang I’m done (sometimes it can be but not usually in my case). He hasn’t taken away my desires for things totally yet; I have to choose to say no (choose to not sin) – and Holy Spirit is workin’ on me as far as the alc. goes. When I was in my 20’s I’d think nothing of having up to 6 Jack & Cokes and then driving home! :hopeless: Thank God nothing bad happened! Now it’s down to maybe 1-2 beers in the eve, just to relax – and if there’s no beer then that’s ok, I just go without. Now my hubby, on the other hand, just STOPPED – both drinking AND ciggs. It’s not gonna be the same for everybody.
God can take away your desires? ahhaahhahhahaha that is pretty much messing with free will whether you are smart enough to see or just make out that you still have the choice to do it
interesting statistics:
The Alcohol Needs Assessment Research Report, published in November 2006, identified that £217
million was spent in 2003-4 by Primary Care Trusts and local authorities to support alcohol treatment1 in
England.
In 2005/6 there were over a quarter of a million admissions to NHS hospitals in England for
selected alcohol-related diagnoses (mental and behavioural disorders due to alcohol, alcoholic liver
disease and toxic effects of alcohol). Hospital admissions for these diagnoses have virtually doubled
since 1997.o Overall probably around 1 in 16 of all hospital admissions are for alcohol-related causes.
o Alcohol-related diseases account for 1 in 8 NHS bed days (around 2 million) and 1 in 8 NHS day
cases (around 40,000).o Up to 35% of all accident and emergency attendances and ambulance costs are alcohol-related
o Between 12 midnight and 5am, 70% of attendances are alcohol-related
o At peak times in A&E Departments,
40% of all attendees have a raised blood alcohol level
14% are intoxicated
43% are problematic drinkerso Common reasons for alcohol-related attendance at A&E Departments include:
violent assault
road traffic accidents
psychiatric emergencies
deliberate self harmo In addition, 1 in 5 patients admitted to hospital for other reasons are drinking at hazardous levels.
o In 1993 Dr. J. Chick reported that in urban hospitals in Britain 15-30% of male medical and
surgical patients and 8-15% of women patients have alcohol problems.Between 1995-7, Marshal et al conducted a prevalence study of current substance misuse
amongst acute general medical admissions in a London hospital. 20 per cent of admissions were
identified as substance misusers; the majority (72 per cent) of the identified patients having an
alcohol problem. 19 per cent were currently using illegal drugs and 9 per cent were poly drug users.

so alcohol is wrong then, you’re just ironing out the creases
well that’s fair enough, but why did Jesus drink wine at the last supper then if it’s wrong?

There are actually loads of younger people in CAMRA these days, and they have a specialist section for real cider and perry.
One of the problems with alcohol in the UK is that the way its marketed encourages excessive consumption of poor quality products….
HELLO
Got any links? You know mimimum joining age? :weee:
yes, you have to be >18 to join CAMRA unless one of your family is a member..

I am actually now legally obliged to remind you to drink sensibly and in the company of responsible people > 18 years old 😉
(you are at least trying to drink proper stuff which is a good start. I’m sure half the stuff I drunk when your age is banned now under EU health and safety rules!)
