  • welcome to partyvibe 🙂

unfortunately in recent times the British police have imposed zero tolerance on all unlicensed rave parties, because they consider them to be linked with drugs and crime. they are using the same tactics and techniques they use against “terrorists” to stop them (and I hear the same is even happening slowly in Holland!)

As there are more lads on the party scene than girls, one such technique, is for police officers to pretend to be a young lady, and ask for info about parties. however this undercover work gets very difficult and legally problematic for the cops if they don’t get immediate info. Sometimes also the British newspapers do the same as well and pass on info to the cops. There is a big backlash against raves and drugs in your part of England as a 14 year old girl recently died from the use of drugs, so the journalists feel justified at doing anything.

so you need to gain peoples trust, and prove that you are a raver. it says on your profile you do art. why not upload pictures of some art you have made to your profile, or talk about the stuff you like doing?

yup yup i suppose so! 🙂

Actually it’s still quite free in Holland, the police can sometimes show up at parties but do not always stop them, they check if it’s calm and people are just sticking to chilling and dancing and then they leave. It seems they have a bit more insight and understanding. Same with the squats even though there is a new antisquatting law… which is ridiculous. Gonna be a lot of homeless people if they decide to follow through.
Also about the drugs, there was a girl, a tourist who died in Holland from apparently mixing several drugs, one of these drugs was mushrooms, which lead to the ban of mushrooms. So yeah.. people don’t really have a say about these things… no matter how long it has not killed people, all it takes is one irresponsible person. They now sell the truffles though, which is basically the same thing and still legal. 🙂

So anyway, it’s a bit more paranoid in England i notice but i guess you have reason to so here we go:

I’m Swedish and moved to Holland 3 years ago, i worked with videogames during this time, because of the financial crisis the company went bankrupt and i had to look for a new job, the games industry is doing so so right now and England is hiring most atm. So i applied here, and got a job, w00t!

Our Police did actually have a lot of insight and understanding, but people in England just took the piss. The ravers did not properly clear up the field or warehouse building after the rave, many got addicted to drugs and others did silly things and injured themselves at raves so ambulances were called, also a lot of people what run parties never had jobs but make all their money through drug dealing so anti-organised crime police got involved. So now we have the zero-tolerance, it is very recent that things have got so bad.

I’ve put another post on the forum about Holland and I would like to go there, but one thing what worries me is safety. I read that all these new anti-drugs/squat laws are because the people have got pissed off with Holland becoming “drugs / moral cesspool” and also they are electing parties against immigrants / foreigners. I am not white skinned, I am Asian but I look more Oriental (Chinese) than South Asian and never grow a beard so thankfully do not look much like a Muslim (not that I have anything against them but don’t want to be mistaken for one!) – will I be OK to go to Holland and parties, or go into a bar or café?

To me the raves were always about being multicultural, but this multiculturalism is under threat across the EU. Is the party scene still safe in NL?

    Two sites worth a look…

Evenementen toevoegen aan partyagenda <- mainstream
    http://www.goatrance.net/ <- underground trance parties

Ah that’s shit 😛 This is what happens when the wrong people get into the parties i think, that’s why it’s important to keep them secret. 🙂 In Holland i think it’s going well though, i’m not sure i’ve been to any tekno where there was any trouble actually. Most people are respectful and behave well generally.

And you are right in a way, the dutch people are getting tired of the foreigners, but it’s not bad, the worst thing i noticed is getting shouted at while biking somewhere that a dutch old guy disapproved of. 🙂 And when you deal with bureaucracy they sometimes decide not to speak english to you etc, even if they can.

However i believe Amsterdam is still 50% foreigners, and the alternative people are the accepting ones also. You should definitly go, you will have a great time! 🙂 Go to the Abraxas coffeeshop and say hi from Sanna. 😉 I worked there for 3 months. All great people working there. Amsterdam is great and i was really sad to leave at the same time as i was looking forward to my new job.

    hehe 😀

Defqon 1 is one of a number of hardstyle/hardcore events that go on across Holland each year, along with other Q dance events such as Qlimax and In Qontrol. if this music appeals to you, you really need to get over there and experience one these partys. They are the best in the world for this style of music!

wosapnin peeps, im off to amsterdam next month for me b’day , although i know of all the main clubs ,but to find a rave night is baffling me as they dont have sites like dsi etc ……can somebody help me please . im into dnb but to be honest i aint gon be to fussy as long as i can go raving:crazy:

Stay away from Leidseplein first of all.

Ruigoord.nl is a hippievillage outside Amsterdam, they have trance parties once a month.

Korsakof is one of the best alternative “clubs” in Amsterdam, on thursdays they have trance so it’s a good place to meet some people and find more parties.

Besides from that you can look at goatrance.net.

For dnb and dubstep check dnbforum.nl, i recommend Cheeky Monday if you will be there on a monday. 🙂

And if you’re into tekno it gets more complicated… you kinda have to know people before you find out about the parties.
