The culture there is different, Dutch ravers organise their plans for raves months in advance (and obtain their drugs then) and don’t really brag about their drug use as much as we do even if they take them.
Actual Dutch society is more judgemental against drug users than you may think, its just that the punishments are lenient for younger people as its seen as “kattekwaad” (mild mischief done by young people and cats/kittens!)
if you are in your teens/20s you might be lucky befriending and asking people your age out there. Looking at the news on vk.nl and the other Dutch language sites of what sort of person gets nicked (as thats all I have to go by) the street-dealers seem to be younger folk from the lower socio-economic backgrounds and in their teens to 20s (as if you are older and caught with drugs for dealing it often means bigger fine/community service and a trip to mental hospital for compulsory rehab!).
But attitudes to buitenlanders might have taken a turn for the worse with the economic depression so there may be a chance of rip offs or even being grassed up- Remember hotel staff are the same age as you and pissed off that they are working when you are partying, friends of mine got grassed up in good old Blighty and there is yet a culture of informing in Holland (Big Brother was first shown on tele there for a good reason).
And this is definitely “één feestje voor buitenlanders” as it seems to be completely organised from within UK, none of the promotion material is in Dutch as well as English, all the artists are English. I know there are some good dnb artists in NL and the genre is also popular there but they don’t seem to be shown on the party line up. you are at least unlikely to get sold dangerous pills unless whoever selling them is really stupid or a psycho as the penalties are greater than for selling decent ones. Even then “let op” (be careful!)
A paradox : older Dutch folk are more likely to chance it with imports to to the UKas its more potential profit and they are under less suspicion here because of our attitude that zero tolerance against raves has worked, if they don’t behave like obvious ravers they are just seen as normal tourists or workmen (normally its the importers of flowers and plants what get busted for trying to bring stuff in at the North sea ports). but maybe some older English people also going to this event might be able to help as this is clearly a “English” event just held in NL because our authorities don’t want it and NL will endure it provided the tax euros are paid and its been going on for some time (though I think the complaints about the smoking ban are hiding other bad news).
Next time ask this a few months in advance, there are young ravers from NL who use this site too but the sensible ones are discreet. if you want to party like the Dutch you have to plan ahead like they do…
