Also root is an Australian term. Here when we’re rooting for something we’re looking for. This caused amusement in my old work place when an Ozzy started working for us and when he asked a female colleague where something was her response was ‘I’ll have a root for you’. He started blushing and then when we questioned it he explained and it became apparent he fancied this particular person, it was also revealed she fancied him. Commence much sexual tension as they were both married but spent at least 20 hours a week working with each other.
