its bait though there are very limited gains from metpol trying such a stunt. its hard enough to get many rigs tob turn up on the night with correct kit, let alone sort out things two moniths in advance. Also the feds cannot seize a rig which has not already been brought into a burgled/squatted venue as no crime has been committed, and under English law (unlke the USA and even some European countries) entrapment of this nature is unlawful and will result in any Court case collapsing. The met are in enough shit as it is for trying to stop youghurt weavers shutting down active power stations (which is has far more serious consequences than a few people makiing a racket in a old building).
If Faz is a fed )and it is hard to hell what exactly he did after Uni and he is just the right age) I strongly suggest he grows a pair, goes to his seniors and points out this plan has gone “tango uniform” and that they simply should police NYE as normal and if there is a illegal event in a building genuinely causing problems to the locals, then deal with it in the usual manner in accordance with existing laws. Metpol have a perfectly good and relatively effective “clubs and vice” unit to police the nightlife (at least since they purged it of the druggie cops who were reselling what they confiscated) which people pay their council taxes for.
This kind of half-arsed shit is actually how a lot of British Asian officers get stitched up (like Ali “G” Dizaiei) as it seems cool but when it fucks up the bosses aren’t there to help and the officer ends up carrying the can for what is in fact corruption and entrapment. if you are a cop, then try and get assigned to something more useful and positive, such as deterring young British Asian lads who may have failed at education and become estranged from their families from gettting involved in serious/organised crime and even religious extremism. otherwise behaving like some cop out of a second-rate crime TV series is a misuse of scarce public sector resources in a country facing permnanent economic depression and a rise in racial tension which needs to be dealt with as a priority and not worth your badge and shield nor the cash I and millions of other citizen taxpayers forked out to put you through Hendon.
If Faz is not a fed then this post is hopelessly naïve and overoptimistic. He has not found a “venue”, but a building in a expensive bit of London with a potential insecurity which he is asking others on a high profile forum highly monitored by the Police to help him burgle.
Even if this is through family connections or friends (or even someone Faz or his family has fallen out with), without formal permission to use the venue it is burglary and criminal damage. The cops aren’t idiots and can tell the difference between genuinely homeless squatters (who do get given some leeway) and middle class kids with University educations who are simply too stubborn to pay the measly £21 it costs for a TENS license and do the small amount of paperwork required.
This same week some single mother chavette has been covertly filmed, publically judged and nicked for openly being a racist sket on a South London tram – and quite right too. However by the same count this means that a British Asian lad doesn’t have the right to burgle buildings (I am British Asian too and used to do stuff like that (not to rob the contents but to get squats) and indeed a few times I did get nicked, and I certainly wouldn’t have even considered openly asking for collaborators online, it was monitored 10-20 years ago). if we are born here we are all English or British and the best part of being British is the sense of proportion and fair play which still exists to some extent. Its not perfect but by and large if everyone doesn’t take the piss it works well.
