Thanks for your replies.
Friends and open laptops! Never a good mix… I’ve seen a place that is boarded up, but it is next door to a police station. It seems pretty secure from what I can tell and would need some proper ninja squatters to open it.
if it is still an operational Police Station (many have in fact been closed and are empty, some friends did actually once squat a former Police Station :laugh_at:) then that is way too risky. Even if its commercial property, the cops are more than likely going to keep an eye on it and often (along with other Emergency Services, especially the Fire Brigade) have an agreement with the building owners to use it for training purposes (practising raids or rescues, training GP dogs and drugs dogs etc). where I used to live in SE England the Fire Brigade kept a close watch on empty buildings.
If they did get squatted they didn’t grass on the folk but they did count them (which was fair enough, as then if there was a fire or other emergency they’d know if they needed to be worried about anyone being trapped).
when my mates did squat the old Police Station of course the feds did eventually turn up but to be fair even they saw the funny side of it and they were more concerned because some folk were European and had brought a small child with them (not in a racist way, they were worried about child welfare stuff and the kid being vulnerable etc…).
Yeah the station is still in use! I knew it would be too risky but the idea of it sounded appealing! Going to have a look around SE tomorrow see if I can find any open squats and talk to a few people, hopefully find something down that way. I saw a pub in Chelsea yesterday on the Kings Road, empty with a window open but it looked like it was under renovation as it wasn’t boarded up just had the windows painted. No one was in there though!!
I know some of you may look on this as immoral but sometimes needs must. I’m not looking at this as a long term solution just need something to help me get my wallet back in check! I could move back in with my mum but that means leaving everything and living out in the sticks and no chance of getting anywhere…
Well, people are still squatting, are still going to court, and are quite happy to document their actions;-

If you have the means to withhold the cops as well (good steel bar holding the door in this case) then they basically are screwed before they begin. 🙂
