I firmly believe that moderate use of psychedelics and amfetamine is extremely beneficial to computer science (or science and engineering as a whole). Would be interested to see any pics/videos of the birds; I’ve heard of zoology profs doing this (especially with the owl; which is a well behaved quiet perching bird) and I know fo a Buddhist dude who rescues every stray animal in the North East of the Netherlands where they all live in peace in a large barn; but this is the first I’ve heard of a computer prof keeping an open aviary in their workshop raaa
I’ll snap a few photos of a cockatiel feeding frenzy, I feed them every three or four days and give them a lot of food so they are never hungry. I did discover something interesting, they are supposed to have fruits, veggies, and protein along with their seeds. Whenever I cut up stuff for them they ate around it and let it rot and for protein they say feed a few crickets but I happen to like crickets since they are cheerful singers too. So I buy baby food and mix it with the seeds and the birds have no choice but to get their nutrients. It’s also interesting that since the birds have their freedom they don’t have any sort of pecking order and the big birds have never picked on the little birds. Right now I have two finches, four budgies and ten cockatiels since my mated pair of cockatiels insists on having offspring twice a year, I started with three cockatiels. I’d give some away but they are such a close family I feel like that would be betraying them.
The budgies and the cockatiels are members of the parrot family so they are quite intelligent. My cockatiels even exhibit a great deal of curiosity. But the nice thing is they have no particular call. In fact they have about 30 different sounds they can make and they vary them constantly so their song is always different, it is music, not noise. The cockatiels even add percussion by tapping their beaks on the wall and the funny thing about it is if they are doing three taps in a song every time they beak the wall it is with three taps, sometimes they do the same thing with four taps so they can either count or they can identify which sound they should be making.
When I have pets I try and get them to behave the way they choose and I find that often this leads to my pets surprising and delighting me. I don’t believe pets should be saddled with trying to behave like a human, I want an animal because they are different from me. Sometimes you have to put up or deal with certain things like my cockatiels finding wires tasty and delicious so they’ve wrecked a few things before I covered most of my wires up but that’s really an exception, I find having an animal living the way it prefers means I have an animal who is really easy to live with.

Cool story bro.
Thank you. It just goes to show no matter how dark things seem they are never hopeless. Actually I know someone who tripped out way beyond me and he wrote about it. See Hunter S Thompson in Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, reading him makes me feel like I don’t have a problem with drugs.
