Don’t get me wrong, I like a bit of laughing gas every now and again, but there seems to be more spent canisters littering parties than beer cans these days.
Do you think they realise that Gas Cansiters are made from re-cycleable aluminium and should therefore be taken away to be disposed of sensibly – especially since the people who sell it for £2 a pop must be making an absolute fortune out of the parties they attend (and I’m fairly sure they don’t donate a share of their profits to the clean-up crew).
I fully agree with what you are saying, but I nearly pissed myself laughing at the thread title (especially when you look at the shortened version from the forum), I had this vision of people dressed up in clown suits (or maybe just the masks/make up) selling crack at parties to avoid being identified :laugh_at::laugh_at:
I heard these things are actually worth a fair bit if u collect them up and take them to the scrappers. Anyone know how much?
Alot of them are stainless steel but i still chuck them in with the scrap cos theve got a bit of weight to them. The ali ones are obviously worth more but you’d need alot. I always collect them in a seperate bag after our parties and put them in my scrap bin, “penny’s make pound’s”. But yeah its a bitch of a task just cos these people who are making money off the back of party organisers cant be bothered to chuck them into an old box or summat.
Aluminium = 80p a kilo, Stainless Steel £1.20 a kilo
Are you sure you got that around the right way? Ive never weighed in a load of purely stainless just mixed irons but ive always thought ali is worth more. I dunno about kilos into tons but ali was £620 a ton last week at my local but goes up n down n varies depending where you go.
Oh n thats why i was askin about your rolls of cable 😉
Oh n thats why i was askin about your rolls of cable 😉
just looked at a recept from friday and thats what we got payed n it seems the same from the last few times we weighed in as well.
the next roll is gettin weighed in n all 😛
Tim – is the scrappy talking in terms of Imperial or Metric tons?
I’ve heard that a rave crew that collects and weighs in the cans and nitrous chargers can sometimes recover enough to pay for some of their fuel costs!
the prices MrAHC quote make sense as I’ve noticed a lot more new stuff what would normally be made from higher grade ferrous metals is increasingly made out of aluminium – bicycles, garden furniture etc…
I remember as a teen an aluminium framed bicycle being a premium price item, now most new bikes are made from aluminium rather than a steel frame (apart from sometimes the front forks) and you pay more for a decent steel frame..
Forgive me general for i am just a scavaging ruffyun never worried about imperial or metric just the cash! but bein as they are selling on a worldwide market (china i guess) i would presume its metric? n yes i collect the cans after party’s aswell but they are only £540 a ton. dont ask me why? But you wouldnt believe how many cans you need for just a tenner!!
TBH that was what I thought and on further investigation it appears that the metric ton (1000kg) is the only one legal for trade these days.
An old ton was 16kg bigger than the metric one (I thought the difference was larger TBH)
what confused me was when I was in high school a 1000kg metric ton was spelt as “tonne”… and a “ton” was the 1016kg Imperial ton
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ton
would expect this is due to a different grade of metal -or maybe the paint etc needs to be removed before recovering the metal (increasing the expense of the recovery?)
China and India are buying up metal like nobody’s business thus forcing the prices up, copper is at £4000 a ton at the moment.
How do people take clown crack? how do they inhale from those pressurised cylinders?
it goes into a balloon first to cool the gas down.
I thought all gases leaving a pressurised container cooled, so wouldnt you be warming the gas? I maybe wrong though 😉
ive seen em doin it from balloons but that was from a big hospital canister not them wee cyilinders.
