This is very true; I see this at work all the time especially with the male patients who get admitted; nearly all are hard working middle class men who have taken ill in late middle age. I try to get stuff for them like pictures of old cars, aircrafts and videos of industrial equipment, ships and building work for the activities co-ordinators and carers as many of the activities are skewed towards females (as more are left alive) and this generation isn’t normally going to want to spend their hours with bingo, arranging flowers etc…
I keep asking my the younger staff (two of the young lads attended Uni to study IT related courses) and a smart young woman if they could think up a design for some “computer game for seniors” (which I could get built into a console looking like 1970s industrial equipment) but they all claim to be too busy…
