the depression may not be a side effect of the autism (it may im not an expert) but may not and could just be as result of you feeling confused that you see the world in a certain why and why cant you see it the same way as every one else? which could make you frustrated and depressed. but now you may know why you think different to everyone else hopefully you should be able to overcome the depression a bit easier.
take it easy mate, im off to get some munch! :love:
true true it could be that way. Cheers man have a good lunch/brunch.
Dont use an online site to diagnose symptoms. I actually have Aspergers Sydrome, and I know it annoys alot of people when someone uses online tests for these kinds of things, go see a trained professional.
I know 3 people who have asperger’s and none of them are or were ‘depressed’. Their social skills just aren’t as up to scratch as most other people’s.

its certainly not a pre-requisite
maybe it’s just related to something else? drug taking, maybe? family history? chemical imbalances?

depression can be a symptom of autism but its unlikely to be from a singular cause I wouldn’t have thought. I am not saying that it is the single reason why I have felt depression just that autism is a significant factor. Lots of other reasons to.

what pisses me off is when people use it as a excuse for bad/criminal behaviour. To be fair its often defence lawyers as opposed to the offenders themselves but if “lack of social skills” is making someone do genuinely criminal things they need to seek help and adopt self discipline!
today some woman round our way (area where me and process live) narrowly escaped being sent down.
She was working in a small bookshop and ripped them off for loads of money. Whilst the owner was on holiday and had entrusted her to look after the business, basically selling the businesses stock on ebay, using the companys resources to deliver the books and keeping the money for herself!
she was busted and brought before Crown Court – her defence lawyer claims the offender “had Aspergers and didn’t understand the consequences” – yet she was intelligent enough to run a entire specialist bookshop on her own and this is the sort of thing what would be a dream job for many people. she wasn’t a little girl either but a year older than me, by this age you should be aware of both your personal strengths and weaknesses.
biggest irony is it was a new age bookshop (process would probably want to buy most of them books :wink:)

this is something across the board that annoys me with mental health – as it stereotypes people even more – what with papers like the sun etc jumping on it
(ie – every schizophrenic is a knife wielding murderer – as one killed someone – tragic yes – but no need for mass hysteria – when there are no doubt more murders etc perpetrated by the so called ‘normal’ lot )
and then others ‘jump on the band wagon’ – sorry guv its not my falt as I have no responsibility for my behaviour as I am mentally unwell – most likely – bollox – your most likely to be playing the system ….
I’ve seen it happen for years!
so – I am dyslexic and got another assessment tomorrow am –
what am I entitled to ? 😉 …….any wrong-bow :laugh_at::laugh_at:
