That is where you fail. There doesn’t NEED to be a meaning to the Universe. Remember, all other living things that we know of exist purely for their own sake. We look for meaning because of the way our brains are structured and developed. If anything, the meaning of the universe is finding meaning.

Or maybe he means fat?
Bit harsh innit?
Oh well I don’t know if I can even be bothered with all this. I don’t really fancy debating religion and stuff anymore. I don’t bash religions so I don’t expect people to bash mine. (Ketamine Gods and DMT light beings)

All hail the Ketamine Gods

I don’t see any difference in preaching about religious views or preaching that extreme hedonism (over and above normal life like education, working etc) should be tolerated or encouraged as well as people ignoring what laws the obey (even if drugs laws are wrong). A lot of party heads actually have more of a sense of entitlement in society than the religious lot, and I had a elderly lady and her middle aged friend preaching at me today, I’d only opened the door to them thinking they were the gas man who had just been here earlier today and was due to drop a invoice in.
I was tempted to tell them I was having a great furnace installed but they looked like someones mum and nan. For all I know they could well have gone to the religious stuff because their kids/grandkids were bang into drone and they were themselves frightened about what that stuff had done to the young’uns.
its worth thinking about who has the wider balance of power anyway. as an example my local Councillors in Licensing department are far more likely to OK a “multi faith religious festival” than even a daytime rave or music event and make the god squad lot jump through less hoops, and the councillors are a variety of faiths themselves or secular, but they know the religious crowds here behave themselves a bit better than kids who are just into music, drugs and partying.
Oy vey this thread.
I can’t see any woe and pain here. Lot of bitching about nothing but no woe and pain.
Yah it’s just turned into personal insults rather than what religion people follow…
What are we then? a cult? lol
I think i follow a form of religion with the lifestyle i have, i refuse to go near commercial clubs and music and i give anyone i know a telling off if i hear they have done.
Is ‘free party goer’ a form a religion?
CBA reading this thread. I’m growing weary of all this controversy surrounding religion. Fair enough if you want to have a discussion about it in a thread but to dedicate several threads to the topic that clearly only results in a none-productive argument is totally futile. Has anybody actually learnt anything from these debates? I know I haven’t other than how obstinate people can be and I don’t like seeing people getting so personal about it. If like me you believe there is no God then leave the ‘believers’ to their own devices. Just as we won’t be convinced God is out there the people of faith won’t be dissuaded from their opinion.

I agree it can be rather similar to a cult, with unfortunately less of the positive aspects of being part of a wider community group (which can include a moderate faith group).
These days I unashamedly listen to a more commercial form of trance as I’ve got older, (curiously this music is making inroads into countries with strong faith group communities, I’ve jokingly referred to progressive house as “Protestant Work Ethic House” before 😉 because of its roots in traditional Dutch culture (Armin, Ferry C etc are hardly rebellious young men) and its being tolerated in all the moderate Islamic countries, there are really good trance events in Malaysia.
I still would not and do not attend commercial events in the UK, but that is due to poor production values and crowd safety issues. I don’t judge or mock people for going to them if they wish to do so, especially as in some parts of England where the unlicensed scene has burned itself out out as that is all folk have. My mates from ICR-FM often play out in townie venues, many used to like free parties but said “the drugs got too much” and we all saw a common circle of friends get addicted / overdose etc. I don’t like the townie scene but to be fair the event organisers don’t look after their punters any worse than on the EA free party scene, even if its more controlled.
In the same way I don’t judge people for folllowing moderate religious groups (and both Lshak and MR207 are very much on the liberal or even radical fringes of Christianity and Islam merely by continuing to stay on this site), nor do I see them as any kind of a threat. I’ve never had a religious person seriously criticise me for my partying, drugs use etc (though the worst of it is in my past), all they’ve said is “well everyone is young and will enjoy themselves in their youth”. I’ve got a lot of real life work colleagues and in voluntary activity who follow religions from Islam through to hippy New Age stuff and I get on well with all of them and they respect me for good things I have done in the community.
That said I think any postive aspects of religion/spirituality come from the community spirit and discipline it instils in folk, not so much from abstract “beings in the sky”.

This sort of bass is quite easy to make with todays VST’s. Massive would be the best for making it sound phat with sequenced steps etc but if you just want instand phat crunch I recommend TAL bassline VST (it’s freeware too : ))

Yeah ^
they don’t even bother trying to convert me any more. Somewhat amusingly a Muslim brother in my old city once thought I was a actual Buddhist scholar, not just because of my ethnicity but because there was some software bug on a big system at work and everyone was getting bare stressed and I wasn’t particularly bothered by it.
In the end I said “look mate, outside of this job (public sector IT for a high profile Government organisation) I lead a “double life”, I help run illegal raves and all sorts of other things. (This was a few years back when my lifestyle was a lot more hardcore than today). This is a minor IT issue which is really not worth me getting stressed about. He found this quite amusing and then confessed his own “secret” passion for music, particularly reggae and gabba.

You have been weakend down by it, now is the time when they swoop in and convert you. This is exactly how they get you!! ON YOUR FEET SOLIDER!!
I did mention this a few posts up from you. So you must be copying my threads, or simply not reading the whole thing. Tut Tut -_-
Seriously though every time I see a thread to do with religion I know exactly where it will end up. It is painfully obvious that the large % of users on here are not into mainstream religions like catholics and muslims. I have decided that I am no longer going to post in any thread that has the slightest wiff of religion.
I can’t personally see why anyones got an issue with it, it’s like some people swear by plain white bread and some people only eat the grainy bread. Some people are meat eaters and some people are veggies.
I just don’t see how religion is any different as everything it’s each to their own.
Lshak slightly brought a little bit upon himself when he started a thread ranting about dmt being the devil and bla bla bla,
but i just think he had a lot going on in his head and he needed to let it all out, which is fair enough, and i respect him and his opinions.
MR207 on the other hand deserved no personal insults, she has never tried to make us belive anything, she just floats in and outta here and gives all of us plenty of respect, so i don’t think she deserved the hate 🙁
Then again we all at times can come on here and say things in the heat of the moment without thinking about how it’s gonna be perceived…
