Vienna – Austrian police said on Thursday they have arrested eight young people in the country’s southern Styria province who are suspected of organising clandestine, drug-fuelled rave parties across Europe.
The group, known as the Invisible Freak Project, is suspected of having organised dozens of rave parties in Austria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands and Spain in recent years, the police said.
The police said they confiscated drugs with a street value of 44 000 euros ($57 000) from the suspects, who are between 23 and 27-years-old, and were still on the lookout for another eight suspects.
Austrian authorities say some of their parties drew up to 5 000 people and ravers were supplied with drugs by the organisers, who are estimated to have made about €500 000 from the events.
