On Wednesday night I downed around 320mg of DXM. This was my first time ever using the drug and to say the least the experience for me was horrifying and painful. I woke up on Thursday with a pressure on my chest and my heart would beat fast randomly even when I was laying down and then it would sink so low and the heart beat was fairly slow. The pressure in my chest at first felt like maybe gas but I’ve been making myself blech w/soda and the pressure is still there.

A couple of times I felt the pain slightly under my armpit. I woke up today with the same pressure in my chest and now I’m considering seeking medical help but I don’t necessarily want to unless I should be alarmed. I am feeling that maybe the DXM is still in my system. I had two major panic attacks during my trip so I wonder if that has something to do with it.

Has anyone else had trouble like this? The only thing I’m afraid of is having a heart attack but my blood pressure is fine and the heartbeat doesn’t seem irregular. The pressure is also consistently in the same spot, it doesn’t seem to change at all and I never felt it before I did DXM.

The bottle I drank was Robotussin Lingering Cold and DXM is the only active ingredient in it.

Thanks for anyone who has any advice to offer.

I am feeling okay now, pressure is still there but heartbeat isn’t racing. I just wanted to see if anyone had similar effects. I don’t have insurance and will have to pay to be seen and I don’t want to do that unless its necessary. I know that DXM can have weird effects that can last awhile, just wanted to see if anyone had a similar experience with DXM

I just did a quick google search for you, and it seems that DXM induce panic attacks are common and symptoms seem to be similar to what you had; it may just be a residual effect but like i said we can’t make a diagnosis, but i’d highly reccomend that if your condition deteriorates you see a medical proffessional. Your life is worth a lot more then what you’ll have to pay to be seen/treated.

i know loads of people who are having anxiety attacks and think they are having a heart attack but when they call emergency services they say that their heart rate is ok it’s anxiety. 320mg of DXM isn’t gonna give you a heart attack, don’t waste your money on the hospital you’ll feel ok in a few days just heed that your body doesn’t like DXM…. not surprising either it’s a filthy drug.

It is dirty, something I’ve never experienced before, I had 2 panic attacks during my trip. The pressure has decreased but its definitely still there, especially when I lay down. But I’m hoping that after a few days I’ll feel completely normal again if not I will pay to see a doctor. Thanks guys, I have no one I can ask or talk to about this so this kind of puts me at ease.
