  • Hi everyone 🙂
    this is my first post…

took ecstasy for the first time last weekend. Had 1 pill on the Saturday and 1 and a quarter on the Sunday. Drank quite a lot of water and only took what I felt comfortable with, felt that I was sensible as it was my first time.

it is now the Monday after so it’s 8 days since I took it. The past 4 days I’ve had a terrible headache come on around dinner time everyday. I’ve got some great tablets that do the trick but I’m just worried about any long term damage and how long this is gonna last for? And if this is even due to the pills.

My friend took exactly the same pills and doses as me and she’s felt fine so it can’t have been a dodgy pill. Maybe I’m just more sensitive to it? Oh I have also been feeling a bit faint, hot and thirsty over the last few days.

I had a great time! Just feel like I’m really paying for it now 🙁

Probably nothing to do with the pills, its pretty normal to feel like you’ve done lasting damage, that’s part of the come down.. Everyone thinks “oh no I’m going to feel like this forever” When in reality it will go away in a short amount of time.

I think you should probably tell your GP about the headache, IMO its nothing to do with the pills (however headaches are pretty common on the first few days of coming down, I used to get a pretty bad travel sickness feeling for a bit).. Worth getting checked out though, if anything it will put your mind at ease.

    Oh ok then thank you.

I did rule out other factors. I took a test for diabetes because of the drinking and even took a preggo test cause you never know!

But thanks a lot, I will do.

its all realitive but E kills serotonin synapses good and dead. lets not hopscotch that.

I thought a synapse was like a “highway/motorway” if you like, where things travel along, I did not realise that a synapse could be killed..

My understanding of how MDMA directly effects the serotonin system is obviously much worse than that of yours, still, there is no doubt (in my mind) MDMA is at least slightly neurotoxic.

permanently downregulate is probably a better way to put it, not trying to start an arguement but serotonin is much more fragile as a neurotransmitter and axions along the synapse can die, the synapse is still there and alive and kicking. but its like if you take the highway and get rid of all the off on ramps, its gonna work like shit.

it can’t actually kill the synaptic cleft you’d need a neurosurgeon to get that done.

i ment to say axions not synapses in the prior post. got my neurological jargon mixed up, my appologies, not trying to bully or anything. thanks for your post it has gotten me to think more about everyman when it comes to drugs instead of my personal experiences.

edit: it is my understanding that only taking heroic doses of MDMA or taking solid doses(200mg+) of MDA can really put you into a neurotoxic state to the point that it is appreciable, unfortuntely having lived this, i have a jaded view on MDMA. for the average person doing a few rolls here and there probably isn’t going to really do diddly in terms of damage.

double edit: dancesafe.org also claims overheating is a big issue for neurotoxicity. also antioxidents can really help prevent issues.

Ah very interesting stuff, I did not realise that you could actually permanently down-regulate receptors, I always thought that they up regulated over the course of the next few days/weeks as the excess serotonin was “cleaned up”..

The fact you can permanently alter your brain has made me think about my very own MDMA use.

permanently down regulate isn’t the best phrase, more like they don’t upregulate back to their former level if they got stressed really hard.

again i think i’m doing a poor job of explaining, it doesn’t just selectively shut off seretonin neurons for good, but they don’t come back online as healthy as before.

one of the coolest things i’ve ever seen was fMRI scans of longtime drug users vs. sober people, ommigod it was scary to look at.
