you might be too young to remember their Their previous hit “Geno” as that was in 1980. Kevin Rowland formed the band in 1978; which would have been a time when Dexys were more likely to be available. He was brought up as a Roman Catholic in England which is an influence of a lot of his music.

Around the same time Dad sent me to one of my first Catholic junior schools; we thus had a lot of Catholic Irish family friends from school/Mass; most of whom my mum didn’t really approve of and one of them was able to get all sorts of “diet pills” (one of which could well have been MDA).

So I sort of saw Kevin Rowland as a role model 😉

Although its supposedly a mortal sin to take “intoxicants”; if “medicines” help you perform your duties to society and God; there are ways round this rule (in 1987/88 school year the nuns at my sisters school purchased enough booze to fill up a whole isotainer (the big one, not the half size model)

yea about music names about drugs, we’ve got an electronic duo in America named the “Crystal Method” their second album was titled Tweekend. Saw them play once, they didn’t obviously look to be tweeking, but ya never know.

crystal meth is clear, but for speed , i always thought it’s amphetamine but i am not 100% sure

and i just looked the result and am very surprised that’s speed came at 1, maybe because it’s cheap

Base is amphetamine, usually sulphate, but that can readily be converted to the N-methyl (so I’m told but there is a synthesis in Professor Buzz’ book).

am very confused with the Term “Base” in the Polll question, in my country, if somebody ask me: “is it Base what u are smoking”, He means Base cocain (aka freebase, crack)

And therm speed is refeered to be the same as amphetamine

or more comprehensive to Req aka TRYPTA THE SHROOM “Phenethylamine is the parent compound of amphetamine, while N-methylphenethylamine is a constitutional isomer that differs only in the placement of the methyl group”

base is British slang for a stronger form of amfetamine sulfate – often popular amongst those in the North of England and Scotland though it has its fans in the south. it is often a damp paste-like substance or brownish in colour (I think that happens when the reaction which might use strong vitriol (sulfuric acid) is rushed and it burns the end product slightly. Some of the harsh chemicals can be still present in the end product to the point it is very often wrapped in aluminium foil (as it attacks sealed plastic bags) and/or stored at low temperature.

Speed or “whizz” is usually a lower purity of this bulked out with inert powder – there is a character in a British childrens comic (originally from 1970s/1980s) called Billy Whizz who always runs very fast (to the point he ends up causing havok due to collisions/accidents) – he also has a tendency to be short tempered and unable to focus on anything long term :laugh_atL
