The mention that MDMA increases empathy and love has got me thinking… I mean I already knew that about MDMA, but after this reaction it makes me have some questions with BDSM, like is there some contradiction between BDSM and empathy? I’ve long valued empathy as a core virtue of how I define goodness and what humans should strive to be so this puts me in a bit of a crisis because I can’t lie, I enjoy bdsm so much and don’t want to give it up! I think I’ll probably stick to it even with my moral doubts, same as I’ve stuck to eating meat even though I know the animals suffer… not saying I’m proud of that, the thing is I’m not good at giving up vices, I also smoke like a chimney.
For the person concerned about my wife, I agree a chat about it wouldn’t hurt, but she was into bdsm before I met her. People change, but I just don’t want you thinking I ever pressured her into this. Our relationship is generally an equal one (just not always in the sex department).
if you feel you can’t do both, then why not just do one or the other, but at different times?
