I am a big bloke, but I have no crew sadly so that doesn’t exactly help. Probably am missing out to an extent, but what can ya do ay. Plus raving without drugs doesn’t seem very fun and I havt given them all up. The tricky part if finding something equally exciting that is music related, cheap summer festivals seem the only option so far. sucks.

these days all that happens is the piss, shit and violence is more spread out, and there isn’t a soundclash at a bumpkin party as there normally is only one rig…
there is much less random violence at a bumpkin party but people do still attend them (often travelling hundreds of miles :you_crazy) to settle scores. angry lads then beat each other up to the point that sometimes the NHS Ambulance is required, and then folk wonder why cops get away with saying the events are unsafe?
sorry but I’ve seen trouble with my own eyes at all the last few EA parties I went to before zero tolerance and a fair few of the SE England/Wales ones when I was living in Reading – started around 2004/05 in SE England and 2007 onwards in East Anglia.

loads of multi rig bumpkin party’s, quite unusual if there was only one rig when I went and I did go every weekend for a whole summer and about 8 last year. The soundclash is easyer because the outside is a lot bigger than a warehouse where its hard to not face each other unless there are multiple rooms.
Never seen any gangs of lads fight at a bumpkin but I am sure it does happen, lads will be lads and all that. Statically insignificant in comparison to fights in town centres I bet but then the old bill can patrol those easily.
if its who/where I think it was I’d always classed them as SE England rigs rather than bumpkin ones as every winter they’d be in Reading or Outer London 😉 – compared to EA most of SE England is suburbs rather than proper countryside….
bear in mind though my last few years partying were spent in EA where things are different – 3 crews will usually do a big link up rather than have separate stacks.

not “gangs” as such, very small numbers of people what know one another bringing their personal scores to the parties and then others taking sides. but once someone gets injured to the point the NHS are required it defeats any argument that unlicensed events should be tolerated, especially when Ambulance units have to be sent considerable distances into the country.
I think you (wisely!) stopped going just before things started going downhill…

I never went to EA (well, if I did I dont remember it), it was further south than that, and the west country a bit too. The crapist venues they ever used were quarry’s, but this was in summer never went in winter. Think they do the ushall warehouse stuff or cold barns in winter. Never appealed though and I was always trying to sort out my mental health so as song as I was strong enough to not go I did.
What really makes me angry is when a few idiots chuck bottles or give the OB hassel. Not seen it much at all, but there can sometimes be a couple of idiots, as with anything. But 99% of the time everyone if just friendly and polite and its all good. sometimes get some drunken chav idiot from the local town though.

its amazing our paths never crossed TBH as I’ve got a very good idea exactly what areas you were in 😉

this is the paradox of East Anglia. People here at raves are by and large really friendly but there seems to be more of a desire to have pointless losing battles with the cops…then again the only reason this didn’t happen as much in the Noughties in SE England is some crews had tried it in 2000 and predictably lost…

hehe I bet you do squire, perhaps they did, do you know what I look like?

Taking on the old bill can never be good! used to hear a lot of “fuck the police they cant do noffink mate”, people can be so F-ing dumb sometimes. But most knew of the importance of not taking the piss with the OB and that there presence was “tolerated” most of the time rather than a lack of ability on the OB front.
why can everyone else multiquote? I cannot work out how 🙁
to quote bits of a post with separate boxes you need to put the
second bit of post
bit in for the other part of the post you are quoting..
NB there should not be a “/” in the first quote but thats the only way I can try to explain it…
