  • Brighton’s Three-Day Music and Arts Festival for 2005

    Press release

    Overview
Brighton is a chief contender in the UK for music, arts and creativity,
a melting pot of artistic flair in every capacity. People flock to
Brighton from all over the world to sample a taste of her infectious
passion for life. This strong network of creativity naturally deserves
a high profile annual platform to entertain the public and integrate
with other artists from around the world.

Inspired by this, a Brighton-based production team have designed a
festival that will showcase the freshest and most innovative
contemporary music and arts from Brighton and around the country. This
event will not only be an incredible outdoor party but the involvement
and ownership of local sound systems, artists, musicians, producers, and
performers will ensure its impact runs much deeper and lays the
foundation for an annual festival with staying power. All in all, this
event promises to be nothing less than Blatantly Brighton.

    Music
Brighton’s own plethora of musical talent, as well as the city’s party
reputation, will ensure a thoroughly enviable line-up of artists. Our
partnership with well-known musical and artistic emissaries such as
Skint, Supercharged, Catskills and Concorde2 will ensure a strong line
up of the most respected new, emerging and established artists including
bands, comedy, cabaret, producer-DJs and entertainers.

Our four main stages will be home to the highest calibre of artists set
to impress your most discerning festival veteran and represent the
diverse range of live, dance and down tempo music that Brighton
    embraces:

    * Main Stage: Open air so the audience can enjoy the sunshine
while they listen to headline bands and DJ’s from around the globe with
    lightshows and visual projection.
    * Dance Tent: 1,500 capacity big top with visuals, lightshows
and bold decor offering the best in dance music including house,
breakbeat, techno and funky drum and bass.
    * Live Stage: Capacity 900. Live bands and entertainers will
play inside this tent, complete with its own bar expect comedy to
cabaret, pop rock to hip-hop and soul through to ska.
    * Carnival Tent: This colourful marquee will reflect a vibrant
community atmosphere expressing true carnival spirit with live
performance, workshops, sculpture, costumes and décor for 400 festival
    lovers.

Imaginative décor, costumes and carnival entertainments will enrich the
atmosphere together with an art trail, walkabout theatre, BBQ area,
sports day field and authentic market area all sprinkled around the site
to ensure a truly memorable experience for everyone.

    Community
Blatantly Brighton will work closely with relevant organisations and
community groups in the run-up to the festival by initiating workshops
and courses for individuals to get directly involved, ensuring local
ownership of a global standard event. Our Information centre will
provide support and advice for people regarding both welfare issues and
creative interests. We are taking an environmentally responsible
approach and education will play a key role in our strategy.

who’s on the case then? i cant beleive noone on this site has anything to say about a new festival! i’ve already sent em a demo of or audio and visual….

they still need stewards, so potential free tickets on the cards!

who’s gonna help me infiltrate this event?

sounds good. Its such a pity we can’t have something like this in Reading but the big money crews have moved in with Reading and WOMAD so the councils expect everything to be done on a free market basis including paying for emergency services (a fair proportion of the cost of a Reading festival ticket goes to the old bill!)

even more reason an event like this needs support. With the “rest of society” treating festivals at best as an annoyance (the objections to Glade have already started down my way) and at worst as tantamount to a terrorist attack (in terms of the manner in which police and council deploy resources and liaise with the organisers) anyone who takes the risk and makes the effort to put on a fesitval deserves respect.

    Nice One!

lookin forward to this one. Brighton is the perfect place for a festie, so about time.

Not too far to stagger home either, being a local!

    🙂
