A hotel in a pretty central location. This makes two knocking shops and a squat within 100 feet of me. Alas, here I am, sitting in a quiet hotel on my own on a Friday night!

my mate was living in the squat for nye and it use to be a old art workshop also there was a pretty sick squat party in brighton on thursday any of u there?

I think that was the one opposite my work, I spoke to someone else today and they said there’s been people there for a long time but they’ve just been given an eviction notice and had a party on Thursday. Shame they didn’t have it Friday or Saturday as I would have definitely wandered across.

Haha, did they let you in? One of my mates goes to one near the seafront sometimes. It’s not for me, personally, but he has no shame.

yeh they had been living there for about 6 weeks and it was a lovely squat they were suppose to get evicted at midnight on thursda so they threw the party but they didnt come til 8 am and they had to leave . it was an alright party but there should of been more people there and skanking now just sitting down

The people that had that party on Thursday night are good friends with my Husband… he was there for a short time on thursday night as well…

yeh the rig was down for like 45 mins because one of the djs was in a khole and knocked loads of shit over haha so they were trying to fire it back up agian and then they came told everyone to leave , im not too sure if they had places to go and i hope they did as they were such nice people but one of them told me theres going to be another one this weekend but im not entirely sure about that if its going to happen or not

a dj at a little squat party told me theres gonna be a couple of free parties starting to get going agian soon within a month because hes getting a van to store his rig in and just waiting for the weather to get better – fingers crossed to start making brighton abit more entertaining agian

The one the young detective is using appears to have a filter on it and/or has been carefully angled so as to make it difficult for the journalists camera to pick up what is on the screen. BTW the third grey/beige monitor on the left (not switched on) would be a touch screen control for the main radio scheme (if you’ve seen the full footage of the heli this is who the “VK” is they are referring to) – the older uniformed female officer is using one of these positions, hence her headset. She might also be taking phoen calls from locals grasing up the raves. nowadays he would just use his airwave radio set (on the desk in front of him) which is a combined two way radio and mobile phone (and you can’t listen in to their comms any more 😥 )

Not really as TBH it took a fair while for British Telecom to get the system working properly, especially out in the sticks… analogue kit still ran in parallel for at least a year, apparently some constabularies keep the old VHF kit on standby as airwave relies on loads of specialist computers…. which gave you plenty of time to work out how units of cops are organised etc and how many there are….

before then loads of summer parties used to get left alone as the old VHF kit would picks up French telly soundtracks in SE and East England and cops refused to take strong action without reliable comms…

Olus today it means owning a scanner is less bait and there is still lots of other interesting stuff to listen to, especially in coastal areas…

Hopefully with the summer coming up, a good sound system will give Brighton a bit more of an atmosphere! :crazy:
