Yeah man it was awesome, good location (although none of the rumoured ones). Unfortunately had to leave at 6ish as I’ve got a ton of revision to do, gonna make up for it next Saturday though! 🙂
I think I know where it is I could be wrong though. Grass and bushes all look the same. I’ll PM you my guess okay.
Teenage girls were seen dancing in their underwear and other revellers in the field, a few miles from the A27 junction for Rottingdean and Falmer, appeared to be intoxicated.
Me likey!!!
Haha, I don’t blame them! It was a very warm morning! Can’t say I noticed them myself, although most of the night was a bit of a blur to be honest.
other than I am old enough to be the father of most of the attendees, it doesn’t seem like too much of a problem or issue, a bit like pre-zero tolerance EA raves, especially the age group becoming younger.
What is more worrying is how divided Brighton seems to be. I think the Greens just about hold the Council which is why they don’t send 100 riot cops into these events like other areas, but its not a majority and there is a strong population of bitter old ex-Londoners who quit London because its multicultural and you can make noise there. In those comments are whinges about the licensed event Cheeseweasel may have some involvement with. At present they can be safely ignored, but democracy goes both ways…
@GL remember this
Two police patrol cars were wrecked early on Sunday when people attending an illegal rave on the South Downs, rolled the vehicles down a hill.
Sussex Police said the cars were later recovered from the dance event at Woodingdean, near Brighton, but were so badly damaged they would have to be written off.
About 1,000 people set up camp on the South Downs on land known as Race Hill.
But police say revellers have now started to leave the site after officers met with the rave organiser, who now faces arrest. This follows the claim by a farmer whose land was occupied, that £400 damage has been caused to his crops. It is also thought that the area chosen for the rave is part of a local nature reserve, which is now being inspected by reserve workers for damage.
A Sussex police spokesman said: “People have now started clearing the site. The organiser faces investigation by police in connection with damage caused to vehicles and the farmer’s property.”
It is believed those attending the event were the same group who were moved on from land in Hampshire and Surrey on Saturday.
The attack on the patrol cars happened at around 0400 BST following a visit by police.
Officers had been deciding whether to move in and break up the rave by force or to let it run its course in the hope the revellers would move off peacefully.
Ravers are ‘enterprising people’
Police moved on 250 revellers who had gathered for an illegal rave at Bramshott in Hampshire on Saturday.
Surrey Police also moved action to stop around 400 setting up camp at Painshill in Cobham.
A Sussex Police spokesman said: “We had a problem with gatherings all evening and it looks as though many finally went to this site.
“These are very enterprising people. They all have mobile phones and can change venue at a moments notice.
“When officers went along following a call at 4am a group wrecked two patrol cars by rolling them down a hill. The cars are complete write-offs.
“Attacking a police car is like attacking a fire engine or an ambulance. It could make all the difference in an emergency and this will cost the taxpayer a lot of money.”
He added that it was thought the rave had been intended to continue all day and night.
yep and it was viewed as wrong and out of character by every raver in SE England, as were similar attacks on Police vehicles in Suffolk in the 2000s (which led to zero tolerance, and the cost of replacing the car being put onto the license fees of every legal dance music event applied for in the same year).
The problem with unregulated crowds is it only takes one kid who has beef with cops for perhaps being arrested for their own personal crimes (drug dealing/shoplifting etc) and see a opportunity for revenge such as an unatennded Police car and takes advantage of it to get everyone judged. Whilst cops tend not to leave their patrol cars unattended in rough estates, they often let their guard down at seemingly friendly events like raves…
This party I was at once there were bails of hay (the circular ones) all over the field and some clever dick lit it on fire. The crowd, that was dominated by a certain high tech big bugdet crew and travelers. Instantly turned there attention to finding out who it was who started the fire. I don’t blame him for not owning up. The travelers were asking everyone, he would have either been decked or told to leave and given a kick up the arse or something. When the cops turned up they were all over the fire too. Main reason the party ended.
there are whole articles / websites devoted to preventing or dealing with fire at licensed entertainment venues and some extremely harsh stories and pictures of what has happened when the correct safety/emergency procedures were not followed. we live in a country where people regularly use deliberate fires to settle disputes and have done since humankind discovered it, more so because guns are strongly controlled in modern Britain.
Both the Police and Fire and Rescue Service are trained to assume any fire at a large gathering of people might be deliberate and investigate accordingly (and they expect folk what organise such gatherings to have taken precautions). in the 90s/2000s a number of people were killed at a squat party in the Netherlands where fire broke out and escape routes were blocked/inaccessible. whilst most UK summer raves are outdoors, a fire at one is still going to destroy either someones farm/businesess or a habitat for wild creatures. neither is acceptable in a small country like ours.
