It must be good to go for playing battlefield 3 (obviously not the bare minumum) and enough room to hold all my submarine porn. Can it be done?

[h=3]Recommended system requirements for Battlefield 3[/h]
- OS: Windows 7 64-bit
- Processor: Quad-core Intel or AMD CPU
- RAM: 4GB
- Graphics card: DirectX 11 Nvidia or AMD ATI card, Nvidia GeForce GTX 560 or ATI Radeon 6950.

Dont get Vista
Dual & Quad Core AMD processors are prone to overheating, similar problem to the first generation of Pentiums, if you go for these ensure you have additions fans and plenty of space around the desktop case to allow ventilation. Also 2.7ghz is quite low these days, my PC is 2.7ghz and it’s about 8 years old.
4GB RAM is very low, I’d say 8GB minimum, more the better
Go BIG on the HDD, 1TB drives are cheap these days and you’ll be surprised how fast you fill it up
Graphics onboard memory, 1GB is fine for most things, but you never know what the next gen of games will need so if more dont cost much get it
I take up your challenge!
Although tbf for less then £400 it might be worth looking into buying a pre made one (and I second not getting Vista as it eats your memory up, win 7 is the way to go! Although it’s an extra few £££ then using your old OS). I’ll get on it a bit later today … after I had my bath.
If your looking for a gaming machine then cheap is not the way to go from what I understand. High end PC gaming is not cheap. Good luck though; cant help with the specifics been years since I used to build PCs. Have a look on ebuyer for parts they can be good value.

^^ This
If I was you soggy, I’d make your machine specked for music production, just with a GFX card in it. You should still be able to play games, just not have spent so much on the GFX card, what will be one of your biggest pay outs in a gaming machine (about 3-400 for the top end gaming cards!)
It is possible but your probably better off just waiting for a bit and saving up more, i’d reccomend atleast 400-500.
ebuyer is fucking ace for parts, i’d also reccommend building it yourself though as opposed to buying a prebuilt one; often you will just get mugged off and its not to difficult to build one plus theres so much information / tutorials on the net anyway
I agree with deez as untill you hit the £400 mark it’s cheaper to buy pre built shit ones … try save up another £1-200 and then you’ll actually get a pretty decent pc out of it (one they would probably charge £700+ for in the shops)!
Aye I could spend a wee bit more on it but that would wipe out a big chunk from my overall balance and it’s not all my money. So maybe I will hold off a bit more and wait until I have near 800. Since battlefield is a year old now and it isn’t exactly pushing the limits on things.

I would reccomend waiting mate, otherwise in a year or 2 you’ll be left with a solid boat anchor rather then a PC capable of gaming. Imo its much better to get a high end PC as it is an investment that will last you years, rather then going cheap and having to upgrade more often. 800 would get you a pretty fucking nice machine though 🙂

If you had £800 to spend you could almost get a top of the range machine!
A thou is probably the most you’d ever want to spend on a gaming rig as anything more and it’s overkill and/or you’re gonna be buying the latest hardware out that drops massively in price with in a few months (making your machine worth about a thou a few months later even if you spent 2 thou on it for example).
Thing is, I am known for blowing money on stupid things like faberge eggs and stuff like wacko Jacko.

I need help man….please help
As awesome as things like that are..
..Just remember that if you save the money now and invest in a decent PC, you’ll have many hours of fun/gaming ahead of you, and it’ll last you longer, then you can buy more of those guiltfree!
The thing is if you’re saving up for it, then it’s best to do the spec of the machine when you’re actually gonna by it, as tech moves so quickly everything in the machine will be old hat in a few months lol and you could get even better stuffs if you do the machine spec at the time of purchase.
This thread inspired me to make spangled eggs 😀
