  • He’s lucky he got pardoned. I think he only ended up paying like 400k in taxes and got a budget cut or something. I don’t really get why Ford pardoned him. Also, before his resignation, congress voted in favor of his removal right?

i get what you’re saying on that end of things in regards to prison but he was a fucking pariah until the day he died. dude was a leper, can’t quantify that.

gearld ford has told his golf buddies that he’s going to hell for pardoning nixon.(he’s one of those types of believes in a literal heaven and hell)

he did make out really well in comparison to what would have been ‘justice’

You had 2 Kennedy’s assassinated that seemed really nice yet no1 does or says a thing when absolute fucking muppets somehow end up in power.

I agree with what you said there mate.

    RFK was down with LSD

Yeah and he was not gonna ban it if elected. That’s probably what got him killed.

I’ve heard a lot of insults regarding Americans, but I have NEVER heard someone call our president a muppet :laugh_at:. The Psyentist was a muppet.

I fail to see a resemblance.
The only read-headed president I can think of is Jackson.

Barry Goldwater was the last reasonable republican

Gonzo was a muppet and he reminds me of almost all your elected lunatics.

    :oh_god:

    Is my only response.

You might wanna think of a few more cos America bashing isn’t a rare occurance :laugh_at:

That’s DB’s job; to bicker with you like you’re an old married couple. :lol_big:

You just gonna sit back, relax, and absorb it all eh? Might be for the best :laugh_at:

although Obama is far from perfect he is genuinely a bit more progressive than any other US president in my lifetime; I remember when he was giving some speech early on in his career; some donut muncher must have dozed off and leant against the horn push on his patrol car. In all Emergency Service vehicles (including European ones) this goes through all the sounds on the siren unit; its usually a short whoop/yelp/wail then the foghorn sound.

I noticed the President visibly flinched and was seconds away from hitting the deck (I presume that lectern thing is bullet proof and there is space to hide behind it if required)

to be fair Muppets as portrayed on modern American TV (especially Sesame Street) are by and large intelligent; well behaved, tolerant and good natured and shown in a context of positive multiculturalism and consenus; thus completely unlike American politicians and business leaders.

The British term is derived from the UK produced Muppet Show from the 1970s which was a comibination of vaudeville and “end of the pier” British variety show comedy.

TBH the biggest problem I find with American culture is the stubbornness and hatred of consensus. North Europeans (many Americans are descended from them) are equally stubborn but there is a point at which they realise they must work together for the common good (putting aside individual short term commercial/political gains) or whatever they are designing will not work efficiently (if at all) or there could even be danger to everyone.

Often this means some kind of government assisted regulator oversees the consensus processs. Americans whinge about this as “socialism” or “inteferiing with the free market” and end up creating something that works in the short term but causes bigger problems down the line as well as using their people or end customers as unpaid guinea pigs for all sorts of things, or simply ignoring established technical standards/regulations if they think there is no one to enforce them. I see this loads in tech and its the reason there are so many big security and resilience problems the world over.
