Kent boy’s bus jump stunt condemned as ‘idiotic’

Police said the boy could have been seriously injured

Images posted on the internet of a Kent schoolboy jumping onto the roof of a moving single-decker bus have been condemned as idiotic and irresponsible.

The video was filmed near the Chequers shopping centre in Maidstone and posted on YouTube in spring 2008 but has only just come to the attention of police.

Police said the stunt, in which the boy was also seen to jump from the bus to the ground, could have led to tragedy.

Ch Insp David Pascoe said: “It is not acceptable. It puts people in danger.”

He said the boy had been dealt with by the police and by his school.

“This lad could have seriously injured himself,” said Ch Insp Pascoe.

“When you actually look at the footage, what’s gone on defies belief. It’s just so, so stupid.”

Classic case of Darwinism right there.

He pulled it off quite well though, maybe he will grow up to be a stunt man.

    if he grows up….

one thing what concerns me about youtube etc is its encouraging people to do dangerous stunts (and believe you me I’ve been tempted to set up a few myself) – but in the real world when a film company does SFX they pay for their own private ambulances and medical treatment so if it all goes tits up the NHS (and ultimately the taxpayer) don’t shoulder so much of the burden.

Oh and they use their own vehicles, not the municipal bus company’s vehicles. If he’d stacked it the CSI would have to cordon off the bus and take it out of service and thats one less bus for everyone to ride on in that area, plus the driver would have probably been traumatised and need counselling. all costs passed back to the local council tax payer.

for the same reason Jackass gets away with it because they don’t have NHS in America anyway so they pay for all the treatment they require…

they would have private ambulances etc as do all UK film sets where they do stunts. especially as the injuries they sustain aren’t serious but often require immediate first aid to avoid infection etc.

You can hire entire ambulances/paramedics and even mobile hospitals from various places, until we tightened up on spammers we used to have loads of private ambulance crews arguing with each other on here about which one was best as they were touting for business for commercial raves!

bear in mind also with a crime drama/movie there will often be scenes where you want to show ambulances, so these can and do often serve double duty…

Call me a senile old bugger but i don’t see the skill in it, he jumped a few feet down onto a 30′ long target doing less than 10 mph, rolled with it and then jumped another 8′ down to the road.

I wouldn’t do it meself cos I’m not in any way athletic but ….

for a similar scene in an action movie they’d do the same speeds but speed up the film (overcranking)

back in Reading when I was hanging around with a younger bunch doing loads of amfet and K we were gonna put this K-head dude in a shopping trolley and launch them off the top of a flat roof into the garden (the K-head was up for it too) but we decided not to in the end, we didn’t have enough boxes and mattresses for the box rig at the bottom so there aren’t any broken bones…

GL, I’m sure with enough K he’d have been relaxed enough not to break anything :laugh_at:

you’d think that but a someone I know works right at the frontline at RBH Emergency Dept and nearly every Monday he used to book in and patch up a fair few of the local ravers with their ketamine-related injuries (one mate of mine could be guaranteed to do himself a mischief at least monthly).

he found it amusing at first but after a while the impact it had on resources and other peoples care started to trouble him, this dude went from being a supportive party head and a bit of a caner to knocking it all on the head and going down the Jesus/religion route!
