  • Helo team. I been highly concidering a few machines, I got some of the details that I want sorted but I is having trouble getting verification on graffics cards. Some people have advised me to keep away from ATI radeon, when other people have told me that I can’t get rid of chipsets, and to be perfectly honest. I haven’t got a clue what plannet i’m on. Can anyone recomend a a decent modern cheapish graphics card, or maybe recomend me some litterature on how to understand graffics cards in general. There must be some hidden code in the name I can decypher, ohterwise how would anyone tell what sort of spec they are. Oh and Is this a deal, or a piece of junk Newegg.com – Shell Shocker Deal. Exclusive Jaw Dropping Savings on PC Components and Electronics.

The things I would be using it for would be FL studio, online gaming, minecraft etc. But I also wanna be able to play battlefield 3 on it too. Any advice is rewarded with good vibes!!

    Minecraft lol

hit me up on MSN and i’ll give you some tech support. 😉

PS, that PC you linked to is shite.

Get someone you know that can build P.C.’s to build you one.

Here’s a list of high end GFX cards and how they preform against each other in benchmark tests with regards to 3D applications like gaming …

Minecraft is therapeutic, it helps me focus and think about things. Like if i’m making a tune and I hit a brick wall, I put MC on for a bit and build myself a creepy dungeon or something. But at the moment i’m having horrid CPU issues and I could hardly get my computer to boot yesterday let alone play games. My MSInstal program is corrupted and won’t stop running in the backround hoovering up what little CPU I have. I have tried repairing it with various fixers, tried clearing the temp files associated withthe program that was installing before it corrupted. I tried restoring the system but because I harly ever shut down and install updates I only had one restore point I could go back to. Basically This lappy is well past it’s sell by date, and lappys arnt exactly designed for perminate use/abuse, running of games etc. They just haven’t got the umph that I need. I can’t really expect too much from the processer anyway. It aint even a dual core and its only celeron M 1.86ghz with 1Gb Ram, and some dumbarse ATI radeon xpress 200 series. Yeah so I been booting it up and in just keeps making iths wired clicky/grindy noise from the internal disk I think, and the computers CPU meter goes mental, and lag erupts and basically locks up the desk top. Now it doesn’t do this in safe mode which is where I have been trying to fix it from but I really don’t think I can save her. I can either take it to a shop and loose money that I could be spending on parts for my new desktop or, let it rest in piece and look ahead to getting my new desktop.

Really, lol, I had a feeling this guy was trolling me when he linked it. Damn my noobish brain.

Well there is a geek shop downstairs from me, and they obviously can build PC’s but I don’t have any physical friends who can build for me. 😥

TBH it’s piss easy to build a PC … as long as you got the parts .. it just all slots together pretty much.

    It’s like IKEA furniture.

hmmm I don’t like ikea… but I do like slots. I may be able to pull this off.

sluts > slots….some mornings I seem to read everything wrong lol

I often do that, it is these new web2.0 websites and their contrast, my eyesight is fine.

the hard drive on that laptop is on the way out (a new one is only about £60). its worth ressurecting the laptop as it can be used for audio streaming/recording (providing it hasnt got a shitty PSU what contaminates the mains ground as I was battling)

when I first saw this thread I thought “wait for Daftfader to respond”. I use a cheap zoostorm PC myself which is good value for what you get (Win 7 64 bit, 8 gigs ram, dual core processor and ready configured NVIDIA GFX). it wouldn’t be much good for hardcore computer games but handles 1080p/50 video well and also audio mixing and was £400 for the whole thing – whilst I can build a machine IT is my day job, I have 30 of the fucking things to look after at work so couldn’t be arsed with it at the weekend.

That’s not a bad spec for £400 GL, what GFX card is in there?

Geforce GT430. a basic card but does the job. PSU is a bit low powered at 300W (Zoostorm have their own made!) and slightly noisy on the filter but the ground loop transfomers on the audio sound card remove the bulk of this. I locked off the on board audio as its software was flaky and it was also a bit noisty. I added a extra fan to the side as it would run hot despite having its own cooling (was still within spec but on the high side). However my room is now 20-25 Celsius even with the CH turned completely off (which is fine for the cold weather but I will need more fans in summer).

As an aside that was the “mains hum” on the mic in the community radio station, it wasn’t hum but their fans/aircon as its in the basement and would be way hot otherwise!
