I know I’m in the minority here, but I hated ‘No Country For Old Men’, but I find that’s usually the way with critically-acclaimed films, I almost always think they suck!

i wasn’t blown away by it, but i really like coen brothers after seeing ‘a serious man’ which is very much my sort of film 🙂 albeit a bit dark, well the message is kind of… black humour
Mel Gibson’s Apocalypto is a bad ass film if you can find it, the uncut version is about 3hours long though so takes up a significant portion of your day/night.
ok nice thanks. i had a bit of an allergy to mel gibson so had to avoid his films, but i haven’t tried for a while so i’ll look it up 🙂

Well with Braveheart aside (because I think everyone loves that film) can’t say I’m too much of a Mel fan either but Apocalypto is well worth the watch.
He supposedly spent several months just inventing the language used in the film, not too sure how true that is.

Oh man this is SUCH an epic film! Deffo worth a watch! It’s a take on Mayan culture and is sooo dark, but also very touching in a nice way. The sacrifices some people make (excuse the pun) to help others was really heart warming amongst the mayhem.
It was written and directed by Mel Gibson, he’s not actually in the film afaik.
DON’T FORGET TO EAT THE BALLS! :laugh_at:
