Oh, you are all sweet and beautiful people. So easy to say this sort of thing, but be sure: I really mean it. Believe it or not, I actually got rushes and spine-tingles reading through all your replies. So thoughtful and, you know, when people actually take the trouble and time to think about stuff and respond…makes me realise..and recognise…how bloody beautiful we all are! This may seem heavy-handed for a (seemingly) mundane enquiry but, I promise you, it really is meaningful to me, and will be to him.

I am now going to ring my brother and read out all of your replies (I said: ‘I’ll make some enquiries on ‘forums’, the responses may be sporadic, but you’ll always get the best information, somewhere’.) Party Vibe people: You have surpassed all forums. I love you dearly. XXX

If he rly wantsto go then why not stop for the ‘detection’ period….say 6 weeks like u said and then apply/give samples or whatever the process is?.

Imo if his addiction gets in the way of his application then its his own damn fault….boohoio im afraid.

Harsh?…..YES, but why apply knowing full well hes gpt a weed habit and they do these sort of tests.

It depends how much and how regulary you smoke … for a heavy long term smoker it can be upto about 4 weeks. If you don’t smoke much it could be 2 weeks or even less. (I know this from personal experiance as well).

Cannabis can still show up for 6 months on hair tests. Moral of the story. Shave everywhere. And I mean everywhere.

Hello People,

Feel it’s only right to report, after all your helpful and thoughtful replies, that my brother, after a long, expensive and nerve-wracking campaign…has got a bloody Visa! To Australia! Going within the year!

This is such a right, true and beautiful result for such a right, true and….sorry, people, am getting emotional now. Am so happy for him though! Take my word: He really deserves a fucking break. So, I’ve got a few months to cry a little bit per day, hopefully mitigating, bit by bit, the inevitable breakdown at the airport. (I warn everybody, every new place I work (am a sort of ‘temp’; work different places all the time) that ‘when my brother goes to Australia’ am gonna need a week off work, seriously.)

I so very much thank you, people, for your help and replies here. Was an extremely emotional issue for me (can PM me if you’re interested/nosey/’tever) and, without realising, this was a really supportive ‘platform’ (sorry if that’s a bit of a wanky word but: you know) for me at just the right time. Love to you all. xx

P.S. And apart from anything else: It’s good to know that you can still emigrate to Australia having been a cannabis user for (ahem) some years. Perspective: Always a good view.
