coincidentally last night I was reading about the old black and white nitrate cinéma film and how although it gave a better picture (until colour film superseded it) it was feared due to the way it would very easily take fire; projectors had to have enclosed metal cases for the spools of film and various safety devices and even then quite a few picture houses over the years (especially short term film shows) did go up in flames with many injuries/fatalities.
Any remaining archives of it have to be kept in secure vaults (in Northern Europe these are often converted war time emergency shelters, there is one in DK and another in NL)
Jesus, like thermit.
