The cheese has more than 1,250
      registered MySpace friends

      Quote:
A 44lb Somerset cheddar cheese which internet audiences have watched maturing since January will be auctioned for Children In Need. Weginald, as the cheese has been named, has attracted more than a million viewers to Cheddarvision TV.

Dom Lane, of West Country Farmhouse cheese-makers said he hopes Weginald’s high profile means it will fetch a record price for the charity.

In September, the cheese was tested for depth of taste and maturity.
Cheese taster Tom Calver said the cheese exhibited “hints of caramel and a note of grass”.

The cheese has also become a big hit on internet site MySpace with more than 1,250 registered friends.

cheese is my best friend along with my collection of pens…….. :laugh_at::laugh_at:

It seems to be becoming a common theme. Last year could you not preorder your christmas turkey from a farm, name it and then watch it grow up over webcam. Like turkey big brother except the winner gets eaten.

Haha thats quality!! You’d watch em get bird flu as well:crazy:

they had “pig brother” as well a few years ago (not sure what happened to the cute pigs, I expect they are all bacon and pork now)

there is a (sort of) rational reason for all this

people who live in cities/towns are finally wanting to learn more about their food and how it is produced.

If you are a single person who works long hours in an office you may not have the time or inclination to go out with your family to visit an organic farm, but you may still be curious about the ways of the countryside..

the website has lots of interesting info about cheesemaking.

not sure though about the sanity of those who added the cheese as a myspace friend though :laugh_at::laugh_at:

I have not eaten much today, and all the webcam does though is make me hungry 😉
