Haha mental image coming up, Nice! :laugh_at:

I agree with some of it but, like all organised religions I’ve encountered so far, there are things I can’t agree with and can’t get past.

    Quote from Wikipedia:

    1. Do not give opinions or advice unless you are asked

    I’ve already failed…

Well, it has been a month since I answered your question, and it is kind of sad that the responses are so predictable—I admit, I have been doing this for years, but every so often one would like to hear something new.

Except you, Hairygrape! That was unique and honest and very cool:

    1. Do not give opinions or advice unless you are asked

    I’ve already failed…

Luckily we’re not so anal as a slip here and there qualifies as failure! The message is essentially an acknowledgment of human nature–When we volunteer our opinion to those who don’t ask they either resent it, or we become part of the issue—who needs that?

Now, I wouldn’t be doing my job if I didn’t address some misinformation others have posted here, so………………………………..

    Tank Girl says:

“you have to pay $200 to join – more american wank

I’d rather spend that on wrongbow :laugh_at::laugh_at::laugh_at:

my ‘goth’ mates used to read the satanist bible coz its rock innit – I asked one how come she was wearing white once (as it was SUCH a difference) and she stated it was ok as white is the chinese colour of death 😉 raaa”

Now, now, it isn’t nice to lie by omission! Yes, there is a fee to JOIN the organization, the Church of Satan. Unlike churches that want 10% tithes forever, or ask you to donate for missions in bumfuck wherever, we ask for $200.00 for a lifetime HOWEVER we plainly state that NO ONE needs to join the organization to be a Satanist. The vast majority never join the organization, but simply follow the religion as put forth by The Satanic Bible and other religious literature published by the CoS.

I know. It sucks when you want to shit on something and it doesn’t fit in your world view properly. Anyway, Tank Girl, what we have to do with your little Goth friend is beyond me, and somehow I doubt her fashion choices reflect upon the religion of Satanism at all. And there is The Satanic Bible—I have no idea what a “Satanist bible” is. Goths generally bore Satanists silly because of their preoccupation with death. Our religion is about life, and we could give a shit what colors people wear.

Lastly, Tank Girl, this American Wank (nice bit of prejudice there, hm) is a religion with members in virtually every country on the planet. ‘sorry to disappoint, but given the current rate of exchange our European Satanists got a real bargain.

    NextSod:

paying to join a religion! , Sod:

Here, on the planet Earth, in order to do things, you know, like have computers with records and databases, producing literature and information, using a pay mail system, telephones, paper, paying clergy and clerks, travel, etc….well, those thing cost money. I don’t know how it is on your planet—do you exchange roots or rocks or sexual favors?

Anyway, as I metioned, on Earth those things, administrative costs to run a worldwide organization, cost money. There isn’t a church on Earth that doesn’t expect regular donations/tithes or sell their wares (books, tapes, etc…) to support that adminstration.

More importantly, for those who obviously don’t read well, I have stated, as does the website and wikipedia, no one is forced to join the Church of Satan to be a Satanist. If that part is too difficult for you to comprehend, get a translater from your planet to help you out.

O-D: Now this person pisses me off. He/She/It is endorsing not Satanism but an organization of Christian Heretics/Devil worshippers who advocate teenage blood rituals, Nazism, illegal activity and having kids run away from and lie to their parents. They are irresponsible and dangerous and I will be personally spending time each day to see to it they are destroyed. They steal the name of our religion and then we suffer because they are every bad stereotype the mainstream has ever heard. They are walking cliche’s who make life quite difficult for real Satanists.

Even if you hate the Church of Satan, look at the website this thing has suggested and realize that these people are dangerous neo-nazis preying on kids for money, sex and blood. And contrary to what this asshole says, they do charge and they worship a literal devil—how sad and pathetic is that?:

:here’s a free and much more interesting ‘Spiritual Satanist’ website called Joy of Satan (http://www.JoyofSatan.com) it has an extremely large website, constantly updated and full of ‘facts’.
Whoever made that website took a lot of time to do it, and the popularity shows it’s power of persuasion. It also gives out the information freely, the ‘High Priests’ are extremely sociable on that Yahoo chat bulleting post thing, and they have a lot of rituals and meditations with which for you to try out.
However, they’re hypocritical fuckwits who believe Jews are the descendants of lizards and they have a webpage, if not a few, dedicated to anti-semitism. The ‘High Priestess’ Maxine Dietrich (basically the head honcho of that thinly veiled Nazi cult) is an outspoken and shamefully proud Nazi along with her abominable husband.

And here is an outright lie:

I haven’t bothered taking a look at it, but I can already assume it’s by the guy Anton LaVey?

If so, that guy was a wanker. He preached more hate and intolerance then muslim extremists.
His whole community are egomaniacal, and their ‘Satanic Bible’ is just to indulge themselves in their fantasies.

Anton LaVey founded the Church of Satan in 1966 and published The Satanic Bible in 1969. The Church of Satan has thrived for over 40 years—we are not a community but a legal church. We are in every religious encyclopedia, the Armed Forces Chaplains Handbook, recognized by every state in the US and most countrys that have a religious freedom clause. We have a hierarchy, and our High Priest Gilmore has added to our already existing canon anotherr book of dogma. (The Satanic Religion has the follwing books as our religious dogma/canon:
    The Satanic Bible/LaVey
    The Satanic Rituls/LaVey
    The Satanic Witch/LaVey
    The Church of Satan/Barton
The Secret Life of a Satanist/Barton
    The Devil’s Notebook/LaVey
    Satan Speaks!/LaVey
    The Satanic Scriptures/Gilmore
Our membership has included artists like Coop and Timothy Patrick Butler, gay author and artist Jack Malebranche, professional wrestlers Balls Mahoney and the Sinister Minister James Mitchell, performers like Jayne Mansfield and Sammy Davis Jr, and I could go on and on.

The Satanic Bible has never been out of print in 40 years. We are not some “community” indulging in fantasies. My point is that there are lots of wanna-be and would be quasi-Satanic or devil worshiping sects and communities. WE ARE NOT THEM. We are a church that has defined modern Satanism, have produced the works to sustain Satanism, and continue to grow and produce while others have a website and bitch about Jews.
There is no intolerance in Satanism and I defy, Hell I demand this liar prove what he is saying by citing a reference. Go ahead—find a published LaVey quote where he shows intolerance worse than any Muslim extremist.

You obviously have never read a word of genuine Satanic literature, and are obviously a tool for some “Spiritual Satanism” org—which is an oxymoron, fit for a real moron who is endorsing Nazis and blood drinkers who worship a devil.

    Now, for no name:

Church of satan is as bad as believing in god (in fact no, it’s probably worse cos you need to be not only gullible but a wanker too…)

Starting your own religion is the way to go – that way if you do start believing it, at least you’re being paid to… 😉

And as for Anton Lavey (say it without the accent and it’s about right ), he is, as has been said, a complete and utter tosser (and not even an interestingly inventive one).

Do any of you people actually form opinions based on anything? You seem to have a lot of opinions and yet cite no sources, offer no examples—just high school name calling and fervent nothingness. And what is up with leaving an opinion but being “no name.” I mean if you are so ashamed of your view that you won’t even leave your name with it, why should anyone else think it is worth anything?

    Um, For the record:

The Church of Satan believes in No gods, devil, demons etc….Satan is an archetype—a metaphor representing he who will not kneel before any supernatural deities/entities. So, no, BrainTrust (I gave you a name, it seemed the thing to do) it is not as bad as believing in God, because the belief is in the individual.

And yes, having your own religion is great. That wasn’t the original question, but I have no disagreement with that statement. However, what has happened in Satanism is this—someone reads The Satanic Bible and automatically and completely feel as if the book is what they already feel/believe/know. For some that is enough. They love the book, it suits them, they know inside they are a Satanist, and that is that.

A few, however, are so taken with the book that upon further research they discover the Church of Satan and opt to join for fellowship, opportunities to stratify and network. They pay the fee gladly to support the organiozation dedicated to Satanic philosophy.

So—you see, many of us THOUGHT we had our own religion, only to find it was already written, to the letter, by Anton LaVey in The Satanic Bible.

You call him an uninteresting tosser, but face it—you’re so fucking exciting you are embarrassed to even identify yourself. How many books have you had published? How many encyclopedias are you listed in? How many religions did you create and codify? How many movies did you serve as a creative consultant on? How many will remember you after you are dead for 11 years—will even be arguing about you after you’ve died????

    ‘just curious.

BTW__I knew the man personally and aside from all his accomplishments he was an amazing, sweet, talented, kind and charismatic man.

So…off i go back to the satanic realm—enough slumming for one night.

Those who actually want a funny little thing called facts (although I realize that can seriously hamper your ability to just call everyone a wanker and a tosser) can check out the following:

A lot of informative writing that Little Luke has read and understood but doesn’t feel the need to leave in the quote as his following question isn’t really relative to any of it, and has merely quoted MagitraY to get her attention in the hope that she might answer his question. Erm….Yeah, whatever

MagistraY, this isn’t really relevant, and I hope it doesn’t make me seem an ignorant person because I am not, but I wonder if you could tell me about the relationship between Anton Lavey and Walt Disney?

Actually yes, my opinions are based on the fact I ran an occult bookshop for many years, and did actually try to read the satanic bible – got about quarter of the way through before consigning it to the complete drivel pile… And my forum name is a shortening of my DJ name – The DJ with noname (I won’t bother to go into the whys and wherefore’s)….

For someone who claims high levels of assumption in others, you do assume an awful lot…

Oh yeah – and another thing – while you’re on the subject of how “world changing” or otherwise monumental LaVey’s accomplishments were – there are plenty of people whose names are remebered for very much the wrong reasons – after all, L Ron Hubbard is more famous then LaVey ever was, and he also talks utter drivel… Fame is not the same as wisdom….

sounds more like a cult than a religion to me…..:yakk:

also religion is the cause of war, hence this thread:you_crazy

well thats 10minutes of my life ill never get back.

    fuck that i’m a christian

Kings Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud,
Custodians of the Two Holy Mosques

Abdullah of Saudi Arabia – Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

(Due to varied methods of translation from Arabic and the fact that these Angels also exist in Christian contexts and the Bible, several of their Christian and phonetic transliteral names are listed.)

King Gabriel (Jibraaiyl or Jibril in Arabic). Gabriel is the Archangel responsible for revealing the Qur’an to Muhammad(PBUH), verse by verse. Gabriel is known as the angel who communicates with (all of) the Prophets.

King Raphael (Israfil or Israafiyl in Arabic). According to the Hadith, Raphael is the Angel responsible for signaling the coming of Judgment Day by blowing a horn and sending out a Blast of Truth. The blowing of the trumpet is described in many places in Quran. It is said that the first blow will destroy everything [Qur’an 69:13], while the second blow will bring all human beings back to life again [Qur’an 36:51].

King Michael (Mikaaiyl in Arabic). Michael is often depicted as the Archangel of mercy who is responsible of bringing rain and thunder to Earth. He is also responsible for the rewards doled out to good persons in this life.

Angel of Death (transliteration “Malak al-Maut”) (colloquially referred to as Azrael) who along with his helpers is responsible for parting the soul of the human from the body. The actual process of separating the soul from the body depends on the person’s history or record of good or bad deeds. If the human was a bad person in life, the soul is ripped out very painfully. But if the human was a righteous person, then the soul is separated like a ‘drop of water dripping from glass’. It is also noted that The Angel of Death will look like a terrifying beast or demon for the souls of bad people and will look like ‘the most pleasant sight’ when he comes for the souls of good people. A common mistake is to think that The Angel of Death is named Azrael. But the Quran never names The Angel of Death but refer instead to “Malak al-Maut” (translates to Angel of Death), and there is no connection in the Koran between the name Azrael and The Angel of Death.
