Shocking that some, if not most places, consider anything like that that wasn’t given permission vandalism and destroy it, no matter how beautiful the work is.

interesting -the area is near identical culturally (and geographically) to Ipswich and Felixstowe in the UK except there seems to be a lot more effort put into developing it since the mid 20th century and it seems more accessible even though there is far more sea/river!
Round here all the port areas are locked off for security reasons and even the disused warehouses owned by big companies in London (80 km away) which means its near impossible for community groups to use them for anything else as the owners want full market rates.
There is a fair bit of tolerated graffiti (it is still there) but since the economic depression there are no more tolerated sites or community art projects; well at least not stuff I can relate to, they have some posh theatre and modern art type stuff sometimes and my friends from the housing co-op know some of the artists but I don’t understand a lot of it TBH….
I’m really surprised looking back at this thread, how all of the pictures are still there and new ones have arrived.
